Hi, I am wondering the same.

I have system per below ;
- Mobo : Asus Rampage IV Gene
- CPU : i7-3970X

I was planning to plant in NVME SSD on the PCI slot.
Wonder if it works or better stay conventional by using sata port.

Better stay SATA until you are 100% certain the NVMe does work for the old system.
If not you will be wasting your money... those PCIe NVMe SSD ain't cheap yooo...

Thanks for the advice.
Look forward too for the PCIe to NVMe conversion result.
If works with stock BIOS, it should be a good thing then.

Great, please update the result and work step required.
I'm rebuilding my RIG, but not from ground 0.
Still attached with X79 technology. notworthy.gif notworthy.gif notworthy.gif

as for drive, certainly can but as for bootable/system drive highly doubted.

Reading through other forums and site, not advice use as primary / bootable.

If there no option ssem then have to move forward to newer tech.
