wau........thermalright even come out with a tower heat pipe casing, wander how much they will cost...........

seriously i think it a good idea for silent setup, u just need a few large and slow fan to do all the necessary cooling only

Well, this had been posted here before :

http://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopi...post&p=11889833

Not sure where it supposed to belong though because it seems it can be in both places..LOL..

Anyway, Yes, Zalman TNN series is using heatpipe as well. But, the heatpipe here is to contact the proc and the body of the casing to spread the heat via the casing. As far as i know, those heatpipes are only for sale seperately from the casing. Besides, i have asked the price for the TNN 500 before. Cost almost a bomb Rm2k last time in Spore.

Its a great idea, especially for portable, weather resistant systems (no fans to suck in rain or dust. Now, if only I could adapt a PSU to take in power from a SLA battery, I could have a highly portable video editing system-no need to wait until I get back to start editing.

Not sure about thermalright though but trust me, there is no portable when it comes to the Zalman..LOL..From the last time i research about it, it weighs around 30KG. However, it does come with wheels for you to push it around..LOL..

um well... so far what we can see is just the outside of the casing...
it'll be interesting to see what goes on inside.
if just cooling the casing alone with heatpipes and pins, its totally overkill.
but if the hot stuff like the CPU and GFX are connected via heatpipe to the casing, then it gets interesting... like what zalman did...
could it run fanless? how would it compare to a casing with good airflow and good heatsinks (coz this aint gonna be cheap)? that we'll have to wait and see...

Saw di... first time Thermalright has a reasonable booth in Computex. Don't think it'll sell though, it's quite madness

Too lazy to take pics but think of it like this... a cpu plate with lalang of heatpipes connected with it

edit: they also have some water cooling rads.

Interesting concept for the fanless radiators. At least they are on the right path with tubing size (looks like 7/16") and I see a 50Z and DDC pump with a custom delrin top. I guess it's only a matter of time as they'll improve...

i've been to this exhibition for industrial stuff ler......what i saw which was pretty interesting is that a company made a radiator with spiky or pin-like fins soldered like around the copper pipe.....i think that would be great if they were able to implement such design because the surface area is even greater than having fins....

looks like there will be a lot of 2nd hand Ninjas and other HR series heatsinks judging by the future prospects of heatsinks laugh.gif

with the heatsink huge, it doesnt need any fan at all......but there will be a lot of issues

cool i get what u mean. but that style would only be better for fanless designs...
with designs for fans, more surface area doesnt mean better. its the right balance between surface area and airflow restriction especially if it is designed for low airflow (example: thermochill PA series and swiftech MCR-QP series). besides designs for fans are usually implemented with flat tubes for lower airflow restriction rather than the abundance of round tubes. all IMHO only tongue.gif

Added on June 6, 2007, 11:50 amon a side note, that whole side panel as the CPU heatsink is crazy... but how would it cater to different motherboards with different positions?
EDIT: looked at it again, looks like its actually movable.

wouldnt the pin/spike design heatsink be great for fanless design ??
it can dissipate a whole lot more than what fin design can give.....

btw, they should have come out with the stove modification DIY for heatsinks to enable end users to shift the heatsink positions to fit their casing.....

but too much heat, the heatpipe becomes pipebomb whistling.gif

yeah i said wat... it would be good for fanless design...
for fans, fins are better... (coz air only flows in one set direction)
sorry i didnt make that clear blush.gif

They need fan unless stated that it is design to run passively. Thermalright always does not come with a fan so that the user are able to choose them seperately according to their liking..

Yea, the good thing is that you can choose your own fan. There wont be any complaint about it being too noisy or too slow. The bad thing would be, you will need to spend extra to get another fan and to be honest, good fan does not come at a cheap price..

Not sure of the performance but it should perform well considering the number of fins and the larger heatpipes.
