I think now engine dies is ok. But press more before let go the clutch.
It's ok to let the engine roar a bit, but dont let go the clutch quickly. do it slow and steady. |

Oh ya and off the aircond when you're doing the slope test. The car is already crappy enough without having to worry about aircon sucking power.

sit at the chair and let other ppl do the test 1st... dont choose the car which drive by failed ppl, the car may difficult to drive... such as hard clutch, less response petrol, hard steering,etc... |

inside the car, first think must wish them good morning/good afternoon
Then, once you are in the car, must remmember to adjust mirror, must purposely wind down the tester window and pretend to adjust the side mirror, then adjust your side, adjust seat, adjust rear mirror, seat belt, honk, signal, wiper, then GO |

I never finished my road test coz the day I took the test was early Friday and by the time its my turn it was almost Friday prayers. To elak all the jam since the route will be around a Mosque, the JPJ guy just said make a U-turn and we're done. And we're just went out on the road!
Result = I passed with some point minused because of earlier mistake before starting. Hill test and such got free points. Btw, this is the road test. Not the one at the compund. |

took my test 8 years ago. used to have a driving license when i was in singapore..........the cops there took that away from me:-P did not bribe, all went well in the circuit, but when we went on the road, the gut tried to ask for a bribe, me being singaporean and all........... so i did what i do best...........went to an open carpark, handbrake turn, flicking and sliding the slk all over the place, that guy in the car was shitting bricks:-) end of the day, he asked me where i learned all those moves........... told him of my rallying history in singapore and he passed me:-)

Many years ago, I was about to be tested for emergency brake on my 500 cc Norton going downhill. They had 2 testers standing apart in the middle for different learners. Mine was a male(nearest) , the other a lady. He kept making signs for me to go faster when I was at about 70 kph. He signalled lated and I jammed my brakes. The back wheel was sliding left and right and gave smoke of burning rubber and I was heading straight to the lady. Those at the side of the roads were screaming and the lady was looking at me shocked with mouth opened. At the last moment I released my brakes and swerved avoiding the lady tester.
My tester shouted and scolded at me for releasing my brakes. I argued saying I would've whacked that lady. I argued and asked me to do another one. I passed and that lady stood at the roadside, stopping the test for her candidates. Later he asked me what speed I was travelling and told him I hit the brakes the speed was about 80 kph. "Y, so fast?" "I was constant at 60 but you still make sign for me to faster and faster" " Didnt look that fast compared to these cubs going at 50" Then he was laughing. |

Wheelspin = wont fail
therefore pass NOTHING TO DO WITH JPJ TEST therefore can get P license and bang people at peak hour FYI the slope test is to demonstrate mastery of using the handbrake technique to start on an upslope and NOT to use wheelspin (power over) to generate an uphill resultant force just so that the car tak mati engine and tak roll back This post has been edited by ceo684: Jun 10 2007, 02:36 PM |

We need to press the accelerator hard at the slope coz if we didn't, the probability to roll back will be higher with the crap kancil car they provided.
One of my fren who didn't do that hard, resulting the crap car to roll back hence fail. It is not entirely relate to skill of the driver but the condition of the car. He did it well with the driving school practice car but not the crap test car. The condition of the test car is totally crap for ur info. |

QUOTE(dman @ Jun 10 2007, 04:02 PM) We need to press the accelerator hard at the slope coz if we didn't, the probability to roll back will be higher with the crap kancil car they provided. Dude, the TOTAL opposite for me lol. The car I drove during lessons sucked so bad that I was worrying my ass out that I might fail coz I thought all the test cars were as crappy as my practice car. The test car turned out to be fine. SMooth clutch, just the way I like it. One of my fren who didn't do that hard, resulting the crap car to roll back hence fail. It is not entirely relate to skill of the driver but the condition of the car. He did it well with the driving school practice car but not the crap test car. The condition of the test car is totally crap for ur info. Well, for the hill there's a technique that'll assure a 100% pass if you know how to do it. After u pull your parking brakes and the JPJ guy asks you to proceed, just step a lil bit on the accelerator, then slowly release the clutch till you feel the car jerking forward, then just step some more on the accelerator and release the parking brakes and ...... |

QUOTE(shinjite @ Jun 12 2007, 01:31 AM) That's why. If we do it slowly the car will 100% move forwards even if its condition is crappy. And YET we still see people's cars rolling back helplessly. Wrong technique? Or simply the nerves. |

Technique is correct, just wrong amount of pressure on both the accelerator and clutch, thats all. Some of them, when the car jerks, at that point of time, their amount of pressure on the accelerator will be light, that is why they tend to mati engine and slide down.
But some cars are different, it seems that you haven't experienced it yet This post has been edited by shinjite: Jun 12 2007, 04:57 PM |

Added on June 14, 2007, 1:43 aminteresting, found out that you yourself oso noob ha ha ha.. how long u've been driving kid..? hahaha I say its for noobs because they have not been taught the technique properly by their instructors. It is not recommended to balance up there without the handbrake. Once the car is parked on the slope and shifted (clutch pressed in) in 1st gear, u just need to apply moderate amounts of throttle (not excessive till the rubber burn out as if its a drift event), engage clutch [engagement point is when the front of the dips a little after some point], and release handbrake (while maintaining power to the engine). The car will definitely go up and not roll back. In short u just need enough Petrol, engage Clutch, pop the handBrake. (PCB). This post has been edited by ceo684: Jun 14 2007, 08:14 AM |

How long does your clutch last with balancing - not much longer than your timing belt huh? You don't understand that when the clutch is engaged 1/2 way aka "balancing" it, it wears off the clutch? Can't get it in your noob head that the clutch functions mostly as a binary function (on or off)..and try driving while "balancing" almost the way without touching the brake in traffic jams..since u so pro or none?? hahaha.. trying to change topic izzit? clutch balancing which is executed properly will not destroy your clutch.. unlss it's nooobs like u that are driving.. u drove for how long... like 3 years?? ever been into motorsports?? no i guess... hahahaha..all theory, but no practical. What does motorsports got to do with clutch balancing PS. Clutch balancing is defined as holding a car using the slippage of the clutch so that the car is stationary/accelerates uphill. Clutch engagement is defined as engaging the clutch properly using a lil bit of gas and engaging clutch slowly so as not to mati engine dramatically. Nooooooooooooooooooooooob, I've probably been driving manual trannys before you even got your license. My first car was a manual NPS. My second is also a manual NPS (sold). My 3rd is a manual PS. The 4th is an auto myvi. In case your noobness prevails, these are not driving school vehicles but kereta persendirian aka privately owned vehicles. I dun change cars. I keep them working. Unlike you. Clutch plates wear off faster in my case, all lasted 150k km before they start slipping. Bearing - since you're opening up the engine might as well change both as well. Practical skills of operating a clutch 100% technical knowledge of the level of a BMW chief engineer is not a prerequisite to drive/getting a license. Question is, have you ever been in motorsports? I have not, because I don't see the point in bringing small underpowered cars into motorsports when the car is not even race prepped. This post has been edited by ceo684: Jun 14 2007, 11:52 PM |

Look who is contradicting himself And one more thing, you need to learn some manners as well, heck, your communication skills are seriously low, kid, get a life, and wait for your 21st birthday then come back. i had my test around 12 years back .. was a bit scared at that point of time since i was the first person to be called to naik bukit .. legs were trembling when i was about to step on the clutch .. manage to go up the hill nicely .. then spin tires a bit to go up the hill further .. luckily pass ..
went for the road test but there wasn't too much issues .. he asked me to overtake the vehicle in front .. did that for him .. minus marks for not lowering gear before overtaking .. if i lowered the gear, i would be considering speed too since i was driving at 75km/h already .. it's all over so it's okay .. good memories though .. haha .. |

Just to share something I've witnessed when I was learning to drive. About 2 years ago, I went for a practise round before the real driving test at this place in Kajang, called IMKEDA. Something funny happened that day. I saw this mak cik going to the slope for a practise. She stopped perfectly on the yellow line. After that she tried very hard not to stall the engine and put pedal to the metal while holding the clutch.
The engine of the kancil roared like mad Then when I was stepping away, I heard a bloody loud tyre screech. I turn back and saw the Kancil launching itself into the air off the little hill, and landed on the other side. I was like OMGWTF!! THAT WAS 1337!!! |

lol. I just passed my exam erm, 3 months ago. Now its like totally different, those test you took doesnt really apply onto daily driving XD. I like to be noob, so to scare people.
Experience Rate = 20% Section A passing = 70% Section B passing = 40% Section B a slight mistake on parking, also you get FAIL! lol. |

QUOTE(nixZorus @ Aug 19 2007, 07:29 PM) It's even in Alor Setar, Kedah. Very strict and clean (not a single bribe I ever heard). Anyway, to make long story short, I would like to announce that I failed my test twice (personal problems, not because their strictness). I failed because:1st take-In 2005. By the time my parents urged me to get the license. So, I went to the nearby driving school and register. I had no skills at all and the instructor there was sucks. He always scolded me for my incapability to drive like pro (I had problem with that stupid clutch). It really deteriorated my motivation as a newbie (stupid instructor, I paid him for the lessons what? Couldn't he tell me nicely? Worse, I had my parking lesson in an empty field (they only put kayu2 to replace the tiang2). I was like confused a lot. The real highway was too far away, so he only instructed me to wander around my place. By the time I didn't know that we could get our lessons at the driving institute (the real test place). Getting my driving license thru the driving school was such a hassle. I had to wait for about a month before they called my name for the JPJ test. By the time, I forgot the entire steps for hill's and parking's tests already. Nonetheless, I went there still thinking that I would pass (as many did). By the time, I didn't know how to get thru the hill, parking and didn't even know whether I was using the right road or not ++ extreme nervous wrecked 2nd take-I didn't try to get another lessons but went straight to register for another tests. How stupid I was. I thought, if I take another lessons, I have to pay - that was why I didn't add my lessons. By the time I thought luck will be on my side. But I failed the way everybody expected. I was so frustrated that I wish I would die on the road instead. 3rd take- Going to be this Sun (9th Dec). Can you imagine, it is already two years (2005-2007) and even the driving institute doesn't have my test card anymore. I was too busy with my study (at Sabah) so didn't have much time to continue. Anyhow, after I make a police report, they get me another one. For this test, I think I'm mature enough by adding some lessons directly at the driving institute (not the stupid driving school) and learnt a lot from a nice teacher. He never scolded me, yet he loved to make laugh and give of beneficial tips and tricks. For every minute he asked whether I'm OK or not. So, I feel I'm ready enough for the parking + hill test and 50-50 for the highway test (as this based on skills more, which I have only little-I don't have a car at home to practise). Anyway, for those who live in Alor Setar or area nearby, if you want to get driving license, do go directly to Ilmu Baru Driving Institute.. or just simply call Cikgu Ilyas (017-4209557).. You won't regret, I tell you honestly. You don't just get direct learning at the place you're going to be tested, but also a supportive instructor too. P.s. Pray for me. |

i'm going to take my driving test at january, still gt 2 weeks like that ler
first time i drive, that car really let me dissapointed, in the circuit there, and the steering making me the road that i've been test is very short, just take about 15 mins like that, of coz, only 1 road will be tested, no highway test. did i mention highway?? i dont want to go highway anymore the most hardest part for me is the reverse side parking, 3 points turn and hill test that SLK r bad, in highway maximum only can run until 90km/h like that then the needle vibrating like wants to break. i step the pedal to the metal also wont run one |

ok heres my part of the story,
1. i got a good trainer to train me, 1st he ask me did i drive b4, i say i drive a bit, in fact i only drive my father van foward and reverse at the same spot. to my horror he told me '' ok then lest go on the highway'' O_O. on the very 1st day i drive i manage to go up to 5th gear,(phew) after the training he say i did good, and my parking all very nice. then the last few day we take our brake early to teh tarik. lol i was hoping he to ask me for kopi money so i can pass easily(influence from other that say need to pay kopi money) but he nvr ask. then on the test day, i go there early so i can finish my test early. but what shock me is, i line up second but my number is 52. i have to wait for 1 hour to reach my turn. but in that hour i see alot funny stunts hahaha i'd saw 1 very funny, a lady very fat got in and her belly already touch the steering, and the car only trevel few meter, and between the distance it stalled few times, after that the lady come out of the car. some fly off the hill, some nearly bang the JPJ inspector. when its my turn to go on the road, 1st i sit in and greet the officer good morning. then i try to adjust the mirror and stuff, the officer told me no need to do all this, later on the road go fast, :swt: i done all my task in flying colours and pass in 1 shot only the only thing to pass is confidence only, |

QUOTE(iamavirus @ Jan 11 2008, 11:49 AM) i gt check free gear, but i always forget to check the signal and wiper during my learning lesson As usual, I always google for everything, and this time its for my JPJ test. Hence, I found this threat and read from A to Z. Btw my JPJ test is tomorrow 17/1. Strangely I passed my QTI test last week, even with my engine died erm, about 4 times. I just can't understand how my engine died when I want to drive down the slope after I did all the steps correctly...or did I not...hehe...too nervous, everything goes down the road...Not used to the clutch. My driving school cars are all very old, and yes, I'm not used to new cars. Aiya. What exactly is the difference between new and old kancil cars? Any advice? So now not to jinxed things up, lets hope things will go ok for tomorrow. Oh gosh, and I can't really remember where the road ends for my B route. Will the JPJ person tell me where to go and where it ends? Arr, wish me luck! |

Btw my JPJ test is tomorrow 17/1. aiya...dont scare lar, when i drive, the JPJ guy lead me to a shortcut and i just finish my test in about 20mins like that Strangely I passed my QTI test last week, even with my engine died erm, about 4 times. I just can't understand how my engine died when I want to drive down the slope after I did all the steps correctly...or did I not...hehe...too nervous, everything goes down the road...Not used to the clutch. Will the JPJ person tell me where to go and where it ends? Arr, wish me luck! not much different between new car and old car lar, gas pedal is the same one, just the clutch u hv to release more and the brake some r stronger, but the car i use during the road test the clutch is very strange, normally if i suddenly release the clutch, the clutch will straight go back to the original position and engine stall if no free gear, but that car is strange, if i suddenly let go the clutch the clutch will slowly go back to it's original position, very strange, but this good for driver who r not doing well in clutch and accelerator balancing, but bad for me, coz i want to pick up fast. My test would be this Saturday which is tomorrow since now its pass 12am. Well as for the last part of the test which is the highway part, if the tester ask you to go faster and etc (all sorts of tricks), should listen or just keep cool ? Some tester really wants you to go faster but some are traps to minus your points, wonder what to do if the tester suddenly said something like that ?

Just maintain it. Yea, some want to trap you, let you unleash your trueself. Some might be serious when they ask you go faster, because they need to test other people too, and they dont want to waste time, or bored doing the same thing. Anyway, here's some tips. Make sure you touch all the mirrors despite you can see them, there are points for it. When come to junction, STOP! Dont go straight or slow down. If you slow down, they count as kesalahan. So do stop, before the white line. Just be calmlah, dont let them see you worried face. |

I'll be sitting for my test this Monday, eep.
Truth is-I'm pretty darn inconsistent, especially on the road. T.T Circuit...I daresay ok lah. (And I don't dare ask the office admin if my package is the 'pao' sort, hahaha) |

One thing to note.....Some kancil max 4th gear, some 5th gear.
The one I use to learn is an old kancil max 4th gear, but on the road test is different kancil max 5th gear. In the end I didn't use the 5th gear because I didn't know it's existence and got one less tick on the paper... This post has been edited by bambambam: Apr 19 2008, 02:38 PM |

Wow..
Just found this thread after some fun with google Anyway my story... 17...that was the age i started out for training, this included the boring lecture, garage etc... i never practiced at all with a car all i did was go to one lesson and thats it never came back to training becasue of my studies, So waste, because at 19(TWO YEARS SINCE MY LAST LESSON!!) i had to redo everything again, and even then i delay here and there cause of my college I took the lectures again and took the computer exam and passed on the first try, then i delay again for another year and finally started training with the car, it had its up and downs some days bad some days good. Anyway fast forward to June 2008, i finally will take my test for the first time, the night before i prayed that i would pass and i felt kinda down cause my parents werent there to wish me good luck since thy were both in Vietnam at the time. I took the test and waited patiently.. They called my name for the highway test first i was scared as all heck but i went in the car and did all the 6 points, i driiiiive and then the examiner stopped me after only a few feet, you know why? I drive on the wring side of the road Second time, early July...i came early in the morning and waited, this time i took the hill test first and i failed yet again, same mistake rolling down the hill...then i was pretty sad so went to drown my sorrows at the nearby cafeteria(with sarsi not beer Then the third try which was on the 11th of July before the exam did my prayers and my baby niece kissed me for good luck, i took the hill test again and remembered some neat advice from my examiner...i passed the test with flying colours... there you have it folks, it took me three years to get my license, it had blood sweat tears and plenty of drama...now waiting to go on the road... One piece of advice to all you guys and gals taking the hill test, ---"the hill parking and 3 point turn" Kancils are in horrid condition for sure but can be negated... When you want to fell how good the clutch is...this is what you do... when the car is idle and on even road you pull the handbrake and slowly release the clutch slowly and count how long it takes to get the oomph to the engine... if you had problems with the clutch and you do that you will do fine... I failed my jpj test last week and really sad why i failed the parking
i guess i cannot rely everthing on what my instructor said and need to change the step to avoid the "Meluncur" i guess i dont have to touch my front tyre until it step into the middle of line before going for the 3 point. About the meluncur the JPJ dude show me that my bumper is at the line but no tiang are down. anyway does my step is wrong fellow lowyat.net and also i need to ask something about the Jpj at the parking, after ur car already inside the box what actually u need to do after ur raise ur hand cos like me after enter the box i raise my hand then i look at the jpj dude but he just look blur blur and dont show any sign to move the car out of the box,no showing hand sign to go or ask my number but stand there like "tunggul" i look at him like about 1 minutes and shout my number but he show no sign then i realised this parking got time so i guess i need to go out the box and head for the 3 point but when i reverse the car and follow my instructor where i need to make sure the front tyre sit at the middle of the line then suddenly out of nowhere the jpj dude magically become non blur and ask me to free the gear and u are dooooooooooommmmmmm anyone here can help me how to do the exact step to pass the parking cos i'm kinda down and confused i hate jpj why should they exist and why dont we just have only the police like other country |

jz sharing my experience...i took the test few years back....is kinda panic tat time bt managed 2 pass all easily...my advise is stay cool n calm...driv as if u're not a "L" driver on the test day...b nice 2 the officer is the most important...remember 1 thing DONT EVER GIV THEM KOPI $$ in order 2 let u pass,i got few frenz even they paid oso the officer stil failed them. I passed on the road test wit 19/20 without payin them a single cent extra..so dont b so stupid.
For those who jz got their license, plz dont driv recklacely...driv like a pro...train more at ur neighbourhood b4 u driv on the streets... wish u guys all the best on test day.... RememBER... PRACTICE make PERFECT.... Practice more b4 u go 4 a test...Tryout diff cars if possible...myself i drov few cars(rusa, myvi, kancil, iswara, carens, avanza, kembara) b4 i go 4 a test... ALL THE BEST TO U GUYS.... |

I heard someone says that the rules to get a 'P' will change after July.
Like Need to have L after 3 months only can test and need to have 30 hours practise instead of 10 hours (currently) How true is it? This post has been edited by sjz: Jul 29 2008, 02:35 PM |

Did my test on 29th July at Ulu Langat..we get there at 9:00am the auntie distribute us the card and see what group we belong to. I was on the Yellow group No. 050+, we did the on the road test first..was too nervous but we tell each other (new found friend) to relax and be calm that help a bit. Our JPJ examiner is a nice fellow we are five under him and he didnt made a rule who is number, next...next..unlike his collegues..he just told us..."kalau saya balik sesiapa nak pergi dulu boleh masuk" so we let the guys finished first...am the 4th one..kancil arrived i opened the back passenger sit to put my things open the driver door...i said hi encik morning
Slope test i gagal...car reverse back..lol....i didn't feel the clutch and i dunno where to see the minyak meter just press n press still no reply with the car to jerk up but then i already pull down the handbrake so turun lah.. i asked the auntie if can talk it out she said cannot, all the officer there are new and on their first day there so can't do anything..have to re-test on tuesday. Paid Rm210 incld. 3 hours lessons.. now am broke! hopefully i will pass on tuesday. Can't stop thinking about this really this days, am thinking of trying to press the clutch then vroom vroom the gas see what will happen...lol.Any idea where too see the minyak meter when pressing the gas on certain type of kancil??? the car used on the slope test are different with my L car so thats confuse me. when we reach a traffic light which turned red. When braking is it a must to switch the gear free? For example, im traveling at gear 4, then when i reach the traffic light, slowly i press the clutch and braking. When my car stops, can i just leave the gear at gear 4? Or i must switch it to free gear? T.T im sux at this..

No , must switch back to free gear... then have to start back with first gear or else will mati enjin...
my JPJ test was quite fun as it is towards lunch time , i get to skip the 7 perkara sebelum bertolak...actually that even the mirror is ok but need to pura-pura abit as my instructor said.. i ended up taking a shorter route and finish it fast.. he even asks me what kind of song genre i like... fun officer there... And while learning, me and my instructor saw a motorcyclist went down the drain hahaha... so we both stop there and help him up...my instructor was sooo super fun !! hehe enjoyed my period learning in metro =) |

I was the only one who passed out of 11 in my academy. Almost rolled off the hill and out the yellow area, but managed to dump the clutch and rev hard. Close call.
Learning sucked. My instructor was young and impatient. Well I showed him. |

If on da hill, dun release H-Brek yet... n-gage 1st gear ease off da clutch until can da car trying 2 move 4ward, thn release H-Brek n giv it more gas n release more clutch NOT 2 FAST |

It's quite embarassing as they shout out loudly.if u fail on de road, u juz need pay rm150 n retest on de road only. Good luck I calm myself and proceed to the On the road test and I passed it without hestitation. written test as in the undang?got english version as well..there are classes conducted in english also..and also theres english booklets available
@silverchain, for parking..place ur car until u see the rear passenger seat window is on par with the pole...then reverse in until ur side mirror sees the 6th pole..then reverse straight to touch the white line...then reverse in and place ur tires nicely before waiving ur hand.. then for 3 point turn... when u reach the 2nd pole ..press the clutch and turn turn turn...then reverse...then drive out like normal...normally the instructor will teach one... normally after u pass slope..then no need to be afraid of the rest already...just follow the steps... as for on the road...i guess i was lucky as the cars are the new kancil...the clutch very syok lol.. |

I remember my tests. I flunked the computer test. That was my fault for not reading up and answering all the 500 questions. You read the rule book, do the questions, then try it out on the test computer (there should be one there for you to have a try before you sit for the official test)
Btw, my re-sit costed me RM50. my other friend re-sit didn't cost that much, but the same centre. Haihz. Forget that, if the instructor wanna act like that, biar la.. but My suggestion, so that you dun waste money, is to score for the stupid Hmm, as for the on the road, I also waited really long. Thank God I passed. Was afraid the female officer was more strict that the male officer. But eventually I got the female officer. My in the lot test, all was good, thank God. As for now, it took me a while to build my confidence driving alone to college. Just be aware of your surroundings and look at your mirrors and keep some distance if possible to make way for idiots on the road |

Condition: Hand braked, 1st gear, tekan clutch full, no brake after the examiner say boleh jalan, 1. slowly release clutch until car vibrates (Not too much, must ngam ngam! vibrate too much will seifor and mati engine) 2. after you can feel the vibration, tekan minyak reasonably KUAT! 3. Release handbrake, (minyak still tekan) and release clutch abit until the car move.... den control the clutch to control the speed... tada~ |

I passed my driving test about a month back. My theory is very easy.
Go up the hill.. stop when your side mirror is slightly before the pole. Pull handbrake, tell the jpj guy your no. When he ask you go, rev the engine till about 2500rpm, maintain the rpm at 2500. Slowly let go the clutch, until you feel the car pulling forward, if the engine almost wanna mati, faster step on the clutch. Lastly, slowly let go the handbrake and let go the clutch quickly. This will cause you to wheelspin, but that doesnt matter, coz even if you wheelspin, you wont fail. |

Finished my test ! ... and i PASSED !! WHEE ~~ getting P next Monday ! OH YEAH !! luckily both on the road and slope i get new Kancil, but the one on the road was a bit .. old, i was jerking together with the JPJ officer ! AHAHAH it was damn funny . here are some 'cool' things i saw during my test .
Saw like 20 car revving to the MAXXX for slope test and lupa let go clutch, rolling down the slope @ 8000 rpm LMAO . Some ler, release clutch nice already, the car hunching down then lupak letak hand brake, LOL then engine mati. This is the best part, i saw some like wanna drag race ler, stop at the slope then tekan minyak maximum then suddenly release clutch like doing a hard launch, walaoeh, LAJU GILERR, the jpj officer also nothing to say, then everyone was like : 'omg, drag racer warming up tyre' AHAH . the tyre went SSCCCCCCCCCRRRRRREEEEEEEEEECCCCCCCCCCCCHHHHHHHHHHH . lol . Until my turn, i took it save and easy, test out the clutch dulu, then rev 3k rpm, slowly let go clutch, then letak handbrake, slowly crawl up . ahaha : ) . Then parking and 3 point not much drama la, some just tiang jatuh . haha . On the road i see some DAMMMM sad, wanna turn out then driving centre that time, tyre kena white line, habis. JPJ officer say :'boy, turun' . wahh damn malu and sad lor, i saw some girls crying too T_T . i just took it slow lor, he call me laju sikit i dont care. drive 35 only haha . then got 17/20 wheee ~~ haha im so damn happy now . Oh and btw my driving centre is at SDC, PJ, anyone from there too ? |

That is just begining, you will learn more driving technique in future. Don't forget what you have learn, the driving technique you learn now is for street use, drive safe on the street & wear your seat-belt. Please don't race on the street, feel need for speed, race on the race track. |

OMG, DRIVING TEST TOMORROW
anyone here did their test at JPJ Segambut??? I seriously am having trouble remembering Route 2 (the long route where you have to go all the way up the slope [and pass sekolah menengah I think] instead of turning right at the traffic light)..... any help??? Directions? Scared I go and tell the JPJ fella I tak ingat route and then kena scold or worse still, fail... * I looked up the address (assuming it's the right one la, Tmn SPPK?) in the map book and tried to figure it out from there but for some reason the layout doesn't look right.... or maybe I suck at reading maps. HELP PLEASE!!! T_T *cries* This post has been edited by blue_rebel: Apr 26 2009, 07:19 PM |

Hi guys. Noob here. Can I ask if there's a compulsory eye exam before the written theory test (undang)?
I know there will be a colour-blind test. But I heard they will ask you to read out signs from far. Does anybody know how far, approximately? Is it like UK 20 metres? Update May 30 2009 It's okay, apparently there's no more reading of signs from far. I took the theory undang-undang test today and passed. I already pass my driving test few months ago...as you can see my post at few pages at the back ..
At first i feel so excited to get my P license. But the nightmare has just begin... From now i'm just like a driver for my family member.... everyday 6pm i have to pick up my sister from her's pirmary school. In the 1st month after i get my P license , i will offer my mum whether need to pick up my sis or not... as you know la can DRIVE... I will do whatever my mum ask me to do as long i can use the car... but after few months... apparently driving sucks So for those who just pass their test don't get too excited And also be careful when you are driving.. there's few time i nearly get accident... but fortunately i didn't get any accident so far |

My driving test last year was epic...
Parking, hill and 3 point turn nothing wrong la cos quite simple. On the road was total trash man. The officer I got look like some garang army general that's gonna pancung my head anytime. I panic until I couldn't even concentrate at all. I committed every single mistake possible. Cos he kept barking (no kidding) at me for no reason, make me jump and then my engine mati... 5 times on the road. Plus I was driving in Kampung Kayu Ara with all the busses and lorries that would suddenly stop for no reason. Almost bang into a bus also until the officer had to emergency brake and continued barking at me. =.= damn wtf. Then at the end he started to flirt with me. Seriously man. But because I 'pao' so he still passed me in the end. He just cut marks for all the minor minor mistakes that I DID NOT do (eg: never adjust mirror, never look at side mirrors...etc). I'm driving auto car anyway and my driving has improved on its own so what's passed has passed. Anyway, I chose to pao because my driving school took 3 months to arrange a test date for me. If I fail, I have to repeat the test probably 3-5 months later and take refreshal course - which is more expensive. This post has been edited by baoz: Jul 12 2009, 07:42 PM |

Anyone here has any idea where we can buy JPJ license here in PJ/KL?
Package is such that you don't need to sit for exam at all, straight away pay money to buy license. Anyone knows such arrangement? |

Thx for the tips. I wore sports shoes just like you said, it's really comfortable and suitable to drive for QTI and I passed. Thx so much. My JPJ test will be around end of August due to my SPM trial 1. Hopefully I can pass again. The slope test is the best among the 3.!!
Guys, tips for you here, if you feel nervous or panicking when driving, try to enjoy the music (if the radio is on). Make some beat, guys. That makes you less panicking and feel more relaxed. You will eventually enjoy driving throughout the test. Do not ask too much questions or you will eventually kena marah. Ask the one and only which is really necessary. If the tester marah2 or menyalak like a dog if you commit a bit of mistakes, just ignore them and don't take it to your heart. You are the one who control the car. And please, do not expect them to give you guidance in detail just like your tutor. Believe in yourself and use all the skills that the tutor has taught you. One last thing, since all candidates have to wear long pants and shoes, I will recommend you guys to wear sports shoes and long pants which is not black in colour because black absorbs most heat among other colours. IMHO, school shoes are not recommended during the driving test, I have a bad experience with that. I'm taking my test this Monday, so I Googled for test tips, which then led me to this page. I just want to thank everyone who's shared their experiences here - it helped to take my mind off the test a little as well as learn some tips on dealing with the slope (the trickiest part of all!).
I'm confident about the road test - just not so with the circuit. It didn't help when my last lesson prior to this coming test had ended in a rather worrying manner (though I have been excelling at it before - no idea why things just started crapping out then): I rolled down the slope and hit the poles during parking a couple of times. Not to mention that my instructor is fond of undermining my capabilities the minute I screw up even on the littlest thing. One of his many gems: "You're good at studying [I'd gotten a 49/50 for undang-undang], but not at driving." Wow. Confidence: beaten to a pulp. I'd also passed the QTI with 82/100 last week. Anyway, thanks again, everyone who's posted in this thread. Real great help. |

Passed my driving test today.
I did a stupid mistake of not pushing down the handbrake when you want to move initially...wondering why the engine keeps dying...lol Slope and parking and 3 point wasn't that hard...just relax and you're be fine.Remember the techniques your instructors taught you and everything will be ok. Even on the road it's quite easy.Just drive slowly and relax and you'll pass it.I didn't even look at the speed gauge but i'm driving slow anyway. Remember just relax relax and relax.Don't panic and you'll be fine. |

I went for my driving test on Sept 7. First I was called for slope test. I made myself relax all the way. Because something's wrong with the gear settings, the engine keeps dying and the car keeps stalling. I thought I was going to fail and reported myself to the officer, but the officer was kind and said I can try again because I have not drive up to the slope yet.
I was glad he gave me a chance. So I return to my kancil, and readjust everything and fix back the gear settings. The slope test was indeed smooth all the way and the hand-break was easy to handle (I guess I got the lucky car) without producing any roll back or screeching sounds. Alright I moved on to the side parking. I performed the side parking really smooth without any hassle. And off I drove to the 3 point turn section. Ok. I was thinking while waiting for my turn. Thinking to myself, "Alright, this part is the final and easiest part for the part 1 JPJ test, just calm down and get over it." So I performed my 3 point turn. In my first move, I should turn my car to the right and stop. Yeah, I made it. However, the lady JPJ officer's face was trying to tell me that something's not right with my driving skills. She ordered me to get out from the car. I was wondering all the way, none of the poles fall off when I stepped my break, and I have performed just like what the instructor has taught me. Curiously, I asked her what have I done till she has to stop me performing my 3-point turn. I explained to her that none of the poles fall off and so on. She replied to me with a devastated face and said,"Ya, you didn't hit any of the poles but sorry to say that your "head of the car" is 0.5 inch over to the white borderline." The road test was okay, and the JPJ officer was indeed funny. Since it's puasa month, he played nasyid on his phone and mumbling/singing along while elevating for my road test. Everything went smooth and I got 18/20. Later, my instructor picked me up and he was like "Aiya, if not because of that 0.5 inch borderline, you would have obtain your P license." I was like "nvm" all the way. Siapa tau next day, when think back, I was so mind hehes. So I will have to repeat my part 1 test again on Tuesday. Hopefully I am not as careless as last time. xD Although I almost pass in my 1st JPJ test, but I think as long as you're calm, everything will go smooth. And only perform your acts when you are fully ready. =). Hope my experience helps all of you. |

Today I passed my test.!!
There's an another tip if you want to succeed the test. Make sure you are not "in a hurry" mood when performing slope test, side parking and so on. Time is given, so perform your acts slowly. As stated in previous post, raise your hand and begin your acts if you are fully ready. Be confident to your skills. If you think sitting in a chair while waiting for your turn makes you more panic, maybe you can try standing. I prefer standing because I won't think too much and able to look at the surroundings plus there's cool breeze blowing Last but not least, please don't ever take JPJ test if you are not ready yet. It's recommended to take 1-2 more driving practices before JPJ test if you think you are still not up to the standard. Ps. In order I calm myself during the test, I always use the concept of being a Pilot. A pilot is responsible in every actions, must think logically and able to be calm and alert at all times. Once again, I would like to thank those who are giving out tips, especially the slope part, which makes me felt much more easier. There are so many slope tips I have heard from different instructors telling to their learners, but I found out users from LYN forum tips for slope test is the best. If you have failed once, twice or more. It doesn't matter. At least, you are willing to try again and you still have your dignity comparing to those who claims to pass only once by getting kopi license. I guess it's the end of my L license. Feel free to ask questions. I found out people in this thread helps a lot. This post has been edited by ilovecookies92: Sep 15 2009, 07:05 PM |

One of my unforgettable experience is when my turn on the slope. There was left side and right side want right?? I was located on the right. when I got up, the left side car also got up.
When the JPJ officer say ok, i didn't move. I thought he was talking to the other guy. In the end, got shouted "TURUN LAAA!". =.= |

i took my license a few years ago. a bunch of teenagers and myself waited in a room. then an instructor came and asked who wanna go first. most of the time, i'd rather wait and see how others fare first. but that day, i was so fed up of waiting so i thought, WTH just be done with it. so that's how i ended up as the first candidate that day. The road test is fine, the parking test is also fine, but then at the slope test i kinda messed up a bit but managed to hold the car right before the line. after the second try and a huge screeching sound i got two thumbs up. the jpj guy said i passed and showed me the sheets so i pulled over, went out of the car feeling light, and step right into a longkang in front of others who were waiting for their turn.i could not forget their faces until today.

my exam is scheduled on the 12th of March. 3point and side parking are fine for me. I had only one chance to do the slope and didn't really get much from my tutor (it's raining and alot of people are waiting to practise so she allowed me to do it once only). I fell slightly back. any tips on that? Maybe I can apply them on my final 3 hour lesson. Because honestly, I don't really understand what my instructor tells me everytime. I kept asking her to repeat what she said again till I got fed up
And those of you doing at JPJ Segambut. What routes the JPJ examiner ask you to take and will he guide you the way? I'm not familiar with that area. Sorry for the naive questios This post has been edited by thatsound: Mar 4 2010, 01:42 PM |

I am also short I struggle to poke my head out to look at the tyre too =S! I am scared if I actually do that. I am still quite confused what they mean by the side mirror being alligned with the pole.. cause When the tyre in the middle perfectly on the line.. I see the mirror not alligned ar with the pole, it hasnt even reached the pole line either, so how do they actually see or mean by when the mirror is alligned??? Or is it like the Parking one? the door handle alligned with the Pole ? or the top left or the car mirror alligned with the pole. Added on March 22, 2010, 1:09 am QUOTE(zx7177 @ Mar 5 2010, 08:49 PM) Thats really not the case =( like her I am short too.. At first I thought " Hey thats not hard at all, I should be able to see the tyre easily" I am 163cm height. But then I am also quite fat.... I struggle to see the tyre still.. I took my time in trying to climb out the window while my instructor waits patiently ahaha, I was finally able to have a glimpsed of the tyre with one hand holding and pulling myself from the roof of the car and one hand pressing on the door LOL! I feel very miserable, So Now I wanna go to the gym and work off more weight before my test. Well I should be able to have enough time to lose some before it anyways. mmmm Btw, I am reading many complaints on bad instructors for driving lessong, like they dont give you more try, or they explain bad, Personally I dont have this problem, It is either I am fortunate to get the instructor I got, or the Institute I go is good, Its called EXCELLENCE Driving. The instructor I got was very understanding and patient, and he teaches and explains well too, within just one Hour I think (I didnt keep track of the time) I was able to fully master changing gear(increasing speed) turning and staying in line (controling the steering) with his help giving in the perfect timing to turn and reposition I was able to do that, and the reverse side Parking, the Hill and the 3 point turn, I think I must have have a tried of the Hill for 5 times, then parking twice (first time on left lane then second time on right lane) the Parking was easy without any mistake cause its simply following instructions and procedure, then Twice on the 3 turn points too without staggering and stopping like many did Mainly because the instructor gave me tip on controlling my turning and speed for perfect movement. I am really thankful for my instructor, He keep asking if this is really my first time or not... and say I learn really fast, But actually its due to His instructions that I was able to learn quick. after the lesson ya, he ask me to drive out All really have to thank the instructor. a good instructor indeed, wasnt as scary as many have pictured it to me, even my brother also tell me when he was learning time, his instructor keep scolding him one... Unbelievable. If you guys who havent learn driving want to find a driving school in Malaysia I really reccomend Excellence Automotive Driving Sdn Bhd where I am attending atm. I registered mine at Bukit Tinggi Jusco Excellence Booth. This post has been edited by carollil: Mar 22 2010, 01:22 AM |

Took it last year. Pass the uphill, 3 pointer and parking but failed the road test because I overdrive the road and then hit a cat when I was turning. There was 2 cats, 1 chasing the other and it appeared out of nowhere and got hit by me. The kancil rocked, like driven through a big rock. Luckily, the cat didn't die because it disappeared when we turn back. Pass the 2nd road test, 19/20, the only mistake is the gear change. (:

guys,
i stucked with a dont-care instructor and messy institute. Currently i meet another seemingly more responsible instructor and i thinking to pay for some extra hours learning and do the QTI with him in another institute. However, in the past, i verbally asked my instructor to arrange QTI for me within next weeks. It is still possible to canceled it by just asking for a direct IM transfer straight? do i still have right? Some instructor might want to rip you more by saying since QTI is arrange so u must pay the QTI fees ( force you to take QTI with them)...which in fact it doesn't cost anything to cancel the QTI ? 2) Out of frustration, will my instructor hold my SM4 and other document and avoided me for transfer? IM transfer only need surat pelepasan (RM xx) and no others extra rip off? 3) If i failed QTI, do i need to pay 2nd time for QTI? The extra hour of learning upon failure is determined by in house tester ? 3) If i pass QTI at current IM, can i book JPJ test in other institute using that QTI result? or i have to resit QTI at other IM? Currently the test slot in my institute is fully book and i doubt my dont-care instructor will seriously help me book the jpj test date for next month. I believe he will just ignore some student he don't even care to appease. seriously hope u guys who have relevant experience can help asap..thank in advance |

i not sure how slow it can go, but if your car's engine is vibrating then that is a sign that your engine is going to stall...actually no need to go slow slow, most people got no problem stopping in the yellow box, the problem is want to move out from the yellow box edit : typo This post has been edited by ryosuke: Apr 25 2010, 11:47 AM |

my advice is to press acc pedal down no matter how loud the engine sound, then let go clutch slowly until u feel the car backside move down, only then u can put your handbrake down.. |

I just passed my test this afternoon. Was there for 5 hours waiting for my turn.
Anyway some of the cars feel very kapcai so you really have to get a feel for your car. Take deep breathes and calm down. Also for the road test you have to be like damn nice to the JPJ guy. My engine mati 4 times and he almost fail me. But last minute he said gimme chance. |

I have already learnt how to drive on the road for 4 hours and parking 1 hour, still very bumpy ride. Very scared to drive already. Only 5 hours left and not sure can do it or not after completing the last 5 hours.
I do have a problem at "bukit", always brake too early before yellow box. Can't estimate properly. Then always "stopped" when doing three point turn (car suddenly stopped moving). Why people say girls have more advantage than guys? I see that girls are also failed easily (from what I have seen at driving school in Ipoh, Perak). Any tips on how to do well OTR and bukit/parking/3-point turn? I might be going for test on 1st Sept 2010. |

i think 9 hour is enough.at first i thought 8 hours is not enough.but i think 8hours-10hours,cukup for a beginner to learn.for the bukit,as people love to say, just press on the accelerator pedal.no need save their petrol
when reach the top there, fast fast press brake pedal.so far,i never face problem with it.always on the yellow box.maybe you can press on the brake pedal when you feel your car is like on a flat road.thats what i feel lar. as for the three point turn, can't say much except play more with your clutch. i believe you've went to the exam field there already?if you are not confident, try ask your instructor to teach you more on the slope. |

Have done the parking once again yesterday, seems ok now. On the road also ok. Hopefully next lesson will be on learning the "test roads".

oh wow,ok. when I saw this thread, immediately reminds me to those days when I had to wake up really early to go practice and sweating like hell when I practice in the noon. I'm the last one I think from my friends who went to get the car license. I was soooo lazy to take it but then I had to do it anyways. Luckly I passed and no need to re-take the tes ^^

Booked my test for the 22nd of Sept.
Not bad at everything except the slope. For some reason when I release my handbrake, I either release my clutch too early (resulting in my engine dying) or I press down on the clutch (resulting in my rolling down the hill). I know the theory and all, but I just can't control that damn left leg. |

Took JPJ test today, was worried bout the slope all the time before the test, but managed to do the slope well..moved to the parking, mati enjin halfway but I guess its ok in the parking part. Then did the 3 pt turn, almost done with it...then mati enjin. =_=' Was like going to hurriedly start the car again but the JPJ guy so semangat and was staring at my car all the way. Haih.
Maybe they should really upgrade those "capalang" kancils, where u need to release the clutch almost fully for the car to move. Added on September 7, 2010, 3:10 pmAnyone here have/had any problems with really old kancils? This post has been edited by sliceofcheese: Sep 7 2010, 03:10 PM |

Depends on the kancil, like the institute's car rkinda old one, I used it, okay, just need to release a lotttttt the clutch. But the JPJ car, release till almost full, then the car will move...a LITTLE. Lol.

Failed slope , i can't feel the freaking biting point or what they call it '' bonnet lift up'' i cant see the bonnet lift up. -.- so i just release handbrake then the car roll a lil but still can go up. that JPJ guy asked me stop and tak payah.

Just passed my Driving Test Yesterday...
Doing it confidently is always the key of passing.. Nervous Havoc will definitely give u more "x" btw.. Do notice where they ask u to speed. for my case.. the tester ask me to speed up at the section of the road where "Kawasan sekolah" which speed limit is 30... and if your driving route is like some sort of semi-highway... be sure to follow the speed limit.. usually it is 60.. while some are 90.. so do follow the speed limit.. make sure your car runs parallel with the lines on the road.. always stop before the white line.. make sure you are in the correct lane.. especially at roundabouts, turning at traffic light, coming out from a junction or side lane or after making U-turn.. |
