Let's talk about my experience in the road show.....The quality of Dell sales persons in the road show, one word - LOUSY!

I have been there for few hours so I can try each laptop (even is same model but the spec is not same). I have seen most of them do not know how to answer customer's question. What I found funny was one customer asking some questions about 1720, I was the one who answered him not the sales girl....The sales girl is just beside me at that time.

Another funny thing is if plug off the power from laptop, the screen will become darker then that time I want to adjust the screen brightness but somehow the setting is not allow to set the brightness (I suspect normal user cannot change the setting of the laptop (1720 which have 1920x1200)). So I asked the sales girl over there and the answer made me think are they just came here to set this road show and sell all these things without having a basic knowledge. This is the words came from her mouth, "Every laptop screen will be a little bit darker if using battery. So it is like this"    At the end, ask another sales man and prove to him that the brightness can adjust and somehow this 1720 cannot set it. Lucky this time the sales is very helpful, ask me to try on another 1720 which located another side.

About light leakage, I'm not very sure about this. About the reflection, I cannot make any conclusion becuz I do not own any Dell laptop b4. From the way I compare, I more prefer the screen without Truelife (Glossy screen). Just becuz 1702 is too big and 1502 non-Truelife resolution is too low, so I choose 1440x900 Truelife.

The screen still reflect the light which hang on at my top. I just use for few minutes for each model and I do not have the chance to use the laptop for a long time. For those who use it in the office might find out the Truelife screen is not a good screen since in office sure have a lot of lights.
Oh ya, dun simply listen to the sales girl (I do not have any intention to against female sales person, but all these answers I heard was coming from sales girl), how dare she said Truelife is good for a long time use. I think she just follow what ever instruction/info given from their top.

Actually the discount is not encourage by their management level ppl....when I made my payment, I heard maybe is his supervisor or manager told to the salesman not to do like this (deduct the thumb drive price instead get the thumb drive).

I bought my laptop yesterday, maybe they have a meeting to warn other salesman not to do this again after their work...?? who knows...

The mail that Dell sent to me also remain the price without the discount. But I'm not worry about that cuz I paid by cheque. Maybe you can check in few days later after Dell confirm your order.
Hmm...so Bios can set the brightness....

Oh ya, what I found funny is I went to collect my gf's spectacle after I encounter the issue. After a while I came back to the road show, I went and tried the 1720 which cannot adjust the brightness. Eh..guess what, now I can use the short key to adjust the brightness to maximum level using battery....

Phew...back home...and now on to my Alpine White 1520 laptop! Will post a few pics, ignore the bad quality. 
With the 15.4" screen and the 9-cell battery, it is quite heavy. A little thick but this is NOT a business laptop so don't compare it with business or Ultra Mobile versions, with it's configurations....it is suitable for a replacement desktop and for gamers on the move.

The only complain that I have so far is the LCD bleeding....it is quite noticeable from a certain angle. But not so bad. The brightness level is high....you can increase it more within the Nvidia control panel, practically turned my whole screen white with it.    The viewing angle of the screen is quite good, I ran a HD quality anime and view it from the side angle and it still looks good. My monitor is just WXGA 1280x800, but to me....it's more than enough.

The bootup speed is blazing!

I'm just waiting for some games to be installed and post the frame rates and quality settings here later. Now I just need to get familiarized with the whole Vista shabang.

My gf has received her order at her office around 11pm. She was very busy and had to bring it back only can switch it on

So, I'm here to give you guys some of my first impression. Let's start with something NEGATIVE:

NEGATIVE:
The screen although looks impressive, like kingmax said, it's too grainy. I wonder if there's any problem with it or it's just me cannot get used to it. Oops... now I see, it's because the lappy is running out of power but still, it looks grainy to me.

The screen's configuration is only on the brightness. There's no sharpness or color configuration or is it me who cannot locate these options?

Next, it's VISTA!!! Excuse me but this is my first time putting my hand on a Vista machine. Everything's blocked, everything's disabled and many software (especially those free ones) do not support vista

Although I knew it before purchasing, the keyboard doesn't look nice

LASTLY, the free laptop bag sucks big time!!! I'm not going to elaborate on this, it's just bad.

POSITIVE:
VALUE FOR MONEY Enough said!

The color scheme is really something to shout of. It really adds some personality to its owner... too bad it's my gf's and she has chosen pink :| BTW, I once saw a Toshiba (or was it TwinHead?) with color too. Can anyone confirm me about this?

Can anyone recommend a good driver download site for Windows XP Pro for the 1520 ?

I just try the hard way to convert back to XP but now I just need the sound driver which is SIGMATEL driver but each time I install it it just wont come out with the sound even though the installation is successful. And also the nvidia 8600GT driver. I've tried the Nvidia website driver but unsuccessful.

So I really appreciate to you all if you can help me to find out the XP driver. I have done it the whole day from the time I received it afternoon. Thank You very much........

  already select and pay for Office PRO , then cancel it because there is alternative which is FOC but now a bit regret
  because at this price this is a chance to legallise my SOFTware. If we can look at the software like 5 years investment maybe it is ok. Headache.

Any comment? have someone arrive at this decision point?
