Their website isn't fully update yet , as you browse through the promotion there is still promoting the 6400 , 1220 laptop and the details of product view on 1520 not avaliable.

Hope they'll offer at lease window XP for us.

But the network card can be ugraded aint it?
Anyway anyone has ordered? Know where can see the actual thing?? I have been holding out for months just to wait for santa rosa lappies and this is very tempting....
Tried doing some upgrades like C2D 2.0, 160 HD, AGN network card and better LCD comes up to RM4999. Wonder if really good buy?? Since now the promotion seem dam good le.... Dunno should go for it bo??
*
If you required faster network transfer maybe getting 802.11n would be a good idea but basically 802.11 a/g is more than enough.Even you upgrade your network card you still can't support Wimax or 802.16.
About the LCD , Dell Insprion model does not have LED backlight , only XPS 1330 have it.

IMO, normal configuration is more than enough smile.gif

I don't understand why you say so. If it's the GPU, the config sheet shows DDR2, the main page shows DDR3. Must have been a communication breakdown in Dell's parts
The day TM provides Gigabit, is the day [Insert a developed country's name] has Terabit internet.

Seriously though, gigabit ethernet is for LAN purposes. Japan has 100Mbps DSL the last time I checked. I don't think we should even complain about it at all, unless you are a gamer that joins LAN parties so much.

The thing worth complaining about is the lack of HDMI and/or DVI ports. Dell is providing Blu-ray DVD ROMs plus claiming their laptops to be "HD" laptops, and what do you know, they gave you a VGA port..
*
That would be true , even XPS 1300 have HDMI or DVI ports , Dell should included at lease one of it.Within weeks , Dell will get a lot of complain but in Malaysia , no one bother or even some doesn't know what is HDMI/DVI ports.

Anybody notice under the tech spec, there is an 32GB SSD option? Wonder when will it be available for Dell Malaysia.
*
It's already avaliable at XPS 1330 but at the cost for it is RM1374! with only 32GB
Do you think it worth it ? SSD is good in saving the battery and faster in reading/writing at this new level of SSD nothing else than that. It's newly launch this year 2007 , that's why it cost , something like USB thumb drive price.

QUOTE(abrak @ Jun 27 2007, 10:04 PM)
why nobody ever mention about 1420 model? not good meh?

i don't need the great gpu. will there be option for intel intergrated graphics?
*
They'll be an option soon but not now.1420 model have the same design and spec with every other model and it has even lower gpu 8500m.1420 is same as 640m mobility.

QUOTE(dahfa @ Jun 27 2007, 11:04 PM)
came back..

well, is thick 15" compared to other i.e macbook pro..and benq
but for the price is worth it

but also no DVI/hdmi..sowhat use a connector to DVI to connect LCD will do also.

Screen brightness at250nits is very good but not as sharp as SOny or Mac screens.

Completecover support is a bonus means if you drop it --?crack or break the screen or or spill water all over you book is Covered and replaced under the 3yr complete cover .

Overall, great performance , service coverage and money for Value !!
*
This is the one features Dell is lacking at.A XPS 1330 with no blue-ray option with 8500m gs gpu have its' own HDMI while a 1720 with blue-ray option and 8600m gt doesn't have HDMI/DVI.Hope Dell will implement it after customer complain.

At malaysia , only Dell laptop provide Completecover.Actually other country , HP laptop also have its' own Completecover just that it is not avaliable in Malaysia coverage.

pics of the back pls!

Look at the page 1 and page 5 and click at the r spoiler for back picture.

Vostro is a new Dell model with same spec with Insprion and black in color ,hopefully will release on 12th of July

1520/1521 is an Insprion model that just launch at 26 June.
1520 = Intel
1521 = AMD

Model start with 1 at the back is AMD while 0 is Intel smile.gif

Your precious help is appreciated..

Thanks..

Can't really give you a exact answer where no one who actually own one of the system. But , I don't think it'll bother you much. The sound card maybe same ask the previous model and about the same if you are asking for standard 2.1 channel laptop build in sound card.If you have extra $ maybe you can upgrade it to audigy but I don't see an option on malaysia dell website.Maybe you can make a call ask about it.

Added on July 11, 2007, 1:28 amdoes anyone know how to get dell inspiron's  e-coupons in malaysia....i've alot of it in the net for US citizens...none for us...
*
There is no coupon issue out for the moment in Malaysia.I'm quite sure there'll not be coupon later.Their market offer at other country such as US citizens are free sudent package and EPP coupon whilst Asian or Malaysia are free hardware upgrades and free redemption.
Don't forget , US will have 8% tax into every laptop and their tech service is base on US which means the price would be higher than malaysia's price.

Vostro cannot compare with Insprion.Vostro is business use while Insprion is for home user.Material is different , and the service & application offer by Vostro are more than Insprion.

alfianzuari79 , please customize it again , I found out there's some mistake on 1520 that you had customize.I'm pretty sure you forgot to add in the Microsoft Office Home & Student 2007 application. It wouldn't be the price as you mention smile.gif

Microsoft Office Home & Student 2007 application is already in the  1520 package. I customise the system at the right side ( e-value code Q520722N-WEB) .
*
hm... there is an error on their customize website. It shouldn't include the Home and Student Microsoft into the RM4199 package. You can try and customize the RM2999 package hardware into RM4199 package hardware. It's a mistake there if they really include the Microsoft Office Home & Student 2007 it'd be the range of Rm455.
If it's not an error Insprion would be cheaper by Rm455 which it'd be a great deal , I'll check it out later.

The TrueLife already consider glossy while the plus sign is an enhanced or better screen than WXGA more sharper. You can click at the help sign at the customize section if you need more information.

QUOTE(tslim2531 @ Jul 11 2007, 07:13 PM)
I just called n ordered through phone for the DELL 1520. My specs are followed:

1. INTEL C2D T5250 1.5Ghz (Will it be lose a lot compared to those T7xxx series ? )
2. 2GB DDR2 RAM 667Mhz
3. 160GB SATA Hard disk
4. DVD Burner
5. GeForce 8600M GT 256MB DDR2
5. White color with 2MP webcam
6. upgrade to Intel(R) 4965AGN Wireless-N Mini-Card ( wat is the difference to the ABG card ? )
7. 3 year complete cover warranty (is it worth it??)
8. upgrade to 9-cell battery (is it last longer?)
9. Windows Vista Premium
Cost : RM 4068

Is it worth it? Can somebody answer my questions in the bracket?
Now quite worried whether my processor speed will slow down the overall speed as the memory n graphic card is considered to be ok already.
*
1. INTEL C2D T5250 1.5Ghz (Will it be lose a lot compared to those T7xxx series ? )

Depends on your usage. If you plan to have your laptop watching HD movie , encoding video I'd be best to go for T7 series but if the usage is just ms word some light games , T5250 is more than enough.I had just ask this question at hardware forum http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/486606 .But remember the T5250 and T7100 difference is RM489 , a big difference.

6. upgrade to Intel(R) 4965AGN Wireless-N Mini-Card ( wat is the difference to the ABG card ? )
Wireless N is next gen network card 802.16 or wimax. The real question you should ask is whether your router supports it or not and will you plan to have wimax. If your router does and you need the speed maybe you can consider it.

7. 3 year complete cover warranty (is it worth it??)
very worth, incase you drop your laptop.Try and ask around , some even get new laptop replacement. biggrin.gif

8. upgrade to 9-cell battery (is it last longer?)
I think last time I had ask this question too.Depends on your usage , if you idle it's around 4 hours plus.I am not sure since no one own the 1520 and the laptop is using 8600M GPU.Not sure how much power it'll draw.

Hope it help , you can click beside the customize (Learn More) for more information smile.gif

As my opinion the C2D T7100 is relatively expensive and not quite worth upgrading.Mine is base on price whether it worth or not.Upgrading from T5250 to T7100 will cost you RM489 and T7100 to T7300 is Rm315.If you browse through Vostro , they have new processor with T5470 with 800Mhz FSB.But of course Vostro is a better quality laptop.

Hm..weird... I though Alpine white need to wait till 25th July ? .Other color can get it within a week.

Added on July 11, 2007, 9:52 pmForgot to mention , it'd be better if you upgrade to 3 years complete cover. It seems like you didn't choose it.If you plan to have a good processor T7100 that will generate more heat which means the more you use the shorter the life.Better have it at lease 2 years

Yeah, I had to ask the salesrep. Had normal screen before....matted....now wanna try glossy type. I ok with the WXGA resolution....any smaller i'll have to squint.
I agree with you on the warranty, but I will wait it our on the first year, if many probs or I foresee probs after the 1st year....then will upgrade the warranty.

As for the processor, since i'm going for a relatively high end GPU, might as well....hell...if it gives me a few extra number crunching speed. But i'll stop there, any higher will cost extra more....LOL.

The salesrep checked with their ppl at the factory, apparently the white cases arrived early and the other colors are short in supply. Hence....will have to wait 2 weeks in line for them.
*
Hm.. but do remember , extend your warranty would be 30% more expensive which should be around RM 300 per year.I am not sure with the new 1520 extend warranty price anyhow it should be in that range.
Yep , for the processor , you'll see there'll be price cut on Sep , don't know whether Dell follow Intel price cut.
Hm.. colors... which color is your favorite color ? lol , hope they'll have more stock ready.

QUOTE(tslim2531 @ Jul 11 2007, 11:16 PM)
Yup, I phoned the sales rep at the afternoon and she said that 1520 can get faster if you choose white or black, other colour have to wait 2 more weeks. It is opposite of what stated in the website or paper. So, I just choose the white 1 cuz it looks so much like an Apple.

I also wonder what platform the 1420 celeron M540 is based on ? (is it 965 or santa rosa??) cuz its detail is not available in Intel website. This chipset is just launched 8th of July. Anybody ????
*
About those game 'Test Drive UNLIMITED, GTR2, Tomb Raider Anniversary, Need For Speed' it wouldn't be any problem with nomal setting.8600M GT is capable on running most of the games with standard setting.8600M performance is more a less like Go 7600 GT.

1. Intel(R) Celeron(R) M 540 (1.86GHz/533 FSB/ 1M Cache) (Is it better than AMD X2 Turion? Can it perform smoothly in Vista?)
Yep , it's a Soket P which is a new santa rosa platform for celeron which it just release like few weeks ago but it cap with 533 Mhz FSB.I am pretty sure AMD x2 would perform better since it's Duo core. It's aim for light user , just think back a year ago everyone is just using Celeron.About vista , a normal 1 GHz processor can run under vista. The important part is ram.If you plan to use vista , get ready to have 1GB ram or more for future usage and program install.Since you are using Vista Basic I think it's fine for light usage. You can upgrade your ram if you plan to , ram price is around RM150

5. 8x DVD Writer
hm.. if can try to upgrade to 8x.Never know maybe your bro plan to burn dvds.

6. Intel(R) Integrated Graphics Media Accelerator X3100 (is it capable of handling basic work?)
It's more than enough for basic usage and even some light games http://www.intel.com/support/graphics/inte...b/CS-021400.htm.

QUOTE(abrak @ Jul 12 2007, 02:55 AM)

4. DVD Burner
5. x3100 intergrated gpu
5. Black with 2MP webcam
6. Intel Pro Wireless
7. 6-cell battery
8. Windows Vista Home Premium
9. 14" WXGA

price: rm3518 each

comments?

Maybe get yourself a graphic card 8400m maybe ? It's a waste if you plan to have 2.0 Ghz.It cost about RM800 for it sweat.gif .If you really want , try to upgrade your warranty like I mention at my previous post.Really, not suppost to waste $ like this except you have a better reason such as encoding video.

Besides, about the warranty issue (business), will it works like the complete cover?? Let say i drop my lappy on the floor, will it cover for me too?? Kinda confuse about tis as 1 of my fren drop his whole lappy from 2nd floor and the lcd cracked. He jz gave a call on the morning and in the evening they came to fix it....

Every laptop have thier hardware failure rate and it also depends on the user usage.Warranty is very worth it.Every dell laptop gives 1 year Complete cover and it's best to upgrade for 3 years. If anything happens to your GF's Dell laptop , just give them a call.I think others had given you the answer smile.gif

Actually , you don't need to stress too much comparing Office Home and Student 2007.It's an original software and it does cost about RM455.I know the offer of Dell 1520 RM4199 include it but not much important as I though.IMO the GUI is hard for some people to get use to it when switching from previous office to office 2007.

The accidentally damage only cover once a year on every parts.Motherboard and other hardware parts claim only able to claim once a year but also depends on the damage.

I called the customer care and the officer there told me that they have ran out of color cover (my gf's choice is Flamingo Pink icon_idea.gif ). The officer then said, the production site has order a large order of color covers and it will arrive on 20/7. So, the order will only be done by the end of this month. My gf is furious about it because such a big company should NOT face cases like shortage of production material.
What makes things worse is that Dell is having a promotion this week for FREE DELIVERY for the same model my gf ordered doh.gif The delivery cost itself cost more than RM100.

You mean you got the printer F.O.C. ??? Great. I have a friend who order M6400 last year, who happened to phone-in and the salesperson was someone he knew biggrin.gif He got very good offer then thumbup.gif

OK. I think I can confirm that I will give it a call next Monday as I need to discuss with my gf first.
In my conversation with DELL Customer Care office, I told her that the bank payment transaction is not finalized and I would consider canceling the order if she couldn't give me a GUARANTEE. (I wanted her to give me a guarantee so that I can "get something extra" if DELL failed to fulfill it tongue.gif ). Surprisingly, she told me that she knew this and I had the right to do so. doh.gif

I think no deduction will be applied since I have not pay a cent to DELL yet. What I need to do is to call up the DELL to cancel the order and call the bank to stop approving that transaction.
Anymore input from others?
Question: Is the optional (add more money) Graphic Card better than the built-in one? Does it worth the price?

*
The free delivery only on apply on RM2999 for 1520.If you plan to save up RM115 , you'll have to wait for one more week since you cancel your order. Why not ask for rebate since you haven't settle the payment yet.The deduction can be apply when you haven't made any payment.Just tell them , to change the offer of free delivery.
Both online or phone booking is almost the same.Benefits ? they wouldn't give much benefits the most is rebate offer. Why not go for phone where you can Benefit them ? Let some salesperson have some commission. biggrin.gif
Of course , discrete graphics card better than build in x3100.It's way better like 8x times. The price is worth if you plan to play some high setting on light games ,watching some HD movie or some light graphic rendering.

my budget actually not that high wan..since this is my 1st laptop...will spoil quite fast i suppose..haha
been choosing between compaq V3415 n dis..
so hope it cost ard 3k la...
if the processor doesnt affect the whole laptop much..i ll opt for the GC...
so i dont really know wht to do now..
shall i go for v3415 with 2G at rm 2399 or dell s new inspiron 1420 with c2d 1.5Ghz n gc at rm 3223??
got 1k diff... =.="
*
The processor for C2D 1.5Ghz is very high that it's similar to 2x pentium 4 2.6ghz.If you plan to change within 1 to 2 years for another laptop such as HP (nice design) , no need to get high end laptop. If you perfer a good design laptop , go for HP but if you worry about hardware failure or getting spoil go for Dell since dell provide Complete Cover.

QUOTE(teikwing @ Jul 13 2007, 08:02 PM)
what's the spec of v3415? comes with C2D? just take 1420 since for extra 1K u get a decent lappy with 2G RAM, dedicated GC and nice design. plus point..it's from Dell. great warranty services.  thumbup.gif  rclxms.gif that's how i tink. a dedicated GC is very important nowadays with alot of applications requires graphics acceleration. even Vista needs a decent GC in order to run smoothly. it's just an future-proof investment u will never regret. trust me. if i would have given a choice last time & has more budget i would opt for a dedicated GC instead of GMA950. kinda actually regret. sad.gif

But do remember , a dedicated Graphic card would minus around 30min to 1 hour of your notebook battery eventhough you are idle. There's pro and cons , and which you think it's more important.Battery life or future application.

thx for everyone s addvices..

@teikwing
it comes with amdx2 turion dual core without os..so that s y it s cheaper..

i just came back from the roadshow..
u ll get a 2Gb thumbdrive or RM89 off if u customize ur laptop more than rm250...
quite a good promoter they have thr...
they said that t5250 is good enough for vista already..dont bother upgrading it if u dont have tat much of budget..
n they recommend me Vista Premium instead of Vista Home Basic..with additional charge of rm115..
so now my laptop goes up to RM 3338..minus RM89...it will b RM 3249...
izit worth to take??
*
IMO it worth for it but do remember PC fair is just 2 weeks ahead. No one knows what offer they'll offer.Depends whether you want to wait or not.
Any other thing offer ? would like to know too biggrin.gif

Please tell me if I miss out or mode mistake on my reply. smile.gif

okay. photoshop might not require dedicated GC but just being on the safe-side and future-proof it's wise to invest in a good GC. that's how i tink. peace. smile.gif

Dell is having a roadshow @ Pyramid? didn't noe about that.  blush.gif that's the price they gave u during the roadshow? or have u tried configure online & see whether there's any price difference? Vista Premium is more eye-candy with Flip3D. smile.gif

GC pro if you plan on watching HD movie/1 year future game/rendering/encoding video and etc.The cons is battery life drain for about 1 hour.If you plan to use your laptop for 2 years before changing , try to invest in GC.
Dell roadshow http://www1.ap.dell.com/content/topics/top...dhs1&l=en&s=dhs
Go for Vista Premium , if RM115 is not a lot for you.Else you can install back XP and some windowblind since vista still not widely use. You'll need 4GB ram for future-proof in vista.

CHEQUE, like how?
i give the CHEQUE to the deliver man when they deliver me the lappie?
*
QUOTE(diners @ Jul 14 2007, 06:59 PM)
its RM4582 for MAIN's 1520. (only change the software, others same like PERF's 1520)
its like RM90 diff @@

actually izit the diff between the PERF and MAIN the software only?

*
First , I suggest you to upgrade to 160GB hard disk , you'll need it when you use vista.Reduce on processor where 1.8Ghz is very good for normal use.
The RM90 difference is because the RM2999 package got free delivery. The price is the same after redemption ordering by phone or online.
If you wish to pay by cheque , just ready your cheque , wait for the delivery man to phone you and they'll pick up your cheque. After they confirm the payment , you can get your laptop fastest is 1 week depends what color you choose.
Actually if for 2999 they didn't have micrsoft student & home 2007 but the 4199 provide with it.If you feel like it's not important you can save up RM90. smile.gif
