You bought yours at the roadshow or online?

Through online-phone. biggrin.gif

I'm not aware of the roadshow too.

Their website only mentioned that Alpine White is available with extended delivery timeline from 25th July.

Phew...back home...and now on to my Alpine White 1520 laptop! Will post a few pics, ignore the bad quality.  tongue.gif
With the 15.4" screen and the 9-cell battery, it is quite heavy. A little thick but this is NOT a business laptop so don't compare it with business or Ultra Mobile versions, with it's configurations....it is suitable for a replacement desktop and for gamers on the move.

My specs:

T7100 1.8Ghz 800FSB
2GB 667Mhz Rams
120GB SATA HDD
15.4" WXGA (1280x800) with TrueLife
NVidia 8600M GT 256MB

The only complain that I have so far is the LCD bleeding....it is quite noticeable from a certain angle. But not so bad. The brightness level is high....you can increase it more within the Nvidia control panel, practically turned my whole screen white with it.  tongue.gif  The viewing angle of the screen is quite good, I ran a HD quality anime and view it from the side angle and it still looks good. My monitor is just WXGA 1280x800, but to me....it's more than enough.

The bootup speed is blazing!

I'm just waiting for some games to be installed and post the frame rates and quality settings here later. Now I just need to get familiarized with the whole Vista shabang.

Will post a proper full review later or tomorrow morning.
*
Good quick and brief review over there.

By the way, you may want to update your siggy as well if it does reflect on the 1520. biggrin.gif

After looking at the pics, I can't wait to get mine drool.gif

I'm wondering, for those who order through phone, do you manage to get any freebies?
*
I ordered through phone. They did offer any freebies.

Apparently, I modified my previous order which I placed on Monday, 9th July. At that time, there's still no FREE memory upgrade to 2GB. I talked to this agent and she's willingly to offer FREE memory upgrade to 2GB but have to surrender the FREE delivery which it was still a good deal upon considering that the memory upgrade cost RM400 plus.

Then on Wednesday, 11th July, I found out that Dell is offering a better deal whereby you'll get FREE memory upgrade to 2GB and FREE delivery. I called the same agent to cancel the previous order and create another order. I didn't ask for further freebies and perhaps she might feel frustated with me! tongue.gif

I find it weird here:

RM 4,199
Price incl. RM600 Instant Cash Redemption
RM4,315 Price incl. Instant Cash Redemption and Delivery

Get up to RM500 INSTANT CASH REDEMPTION ONLINE + FREE DOUBLE MEMORY + FREE DELIVERY HURRY, ENDS MONDAY (16/7/2007).

You see, if there's free delivery, where does the extra 4315-4199=116 came from? unsure.gif
*
Inspiron 1520 has only 2 offers which are

QUOTE
1. RM600 Instant Cash Redemption + Free 2GB Memory Upgrade for PERFORMANCE(price starts from RM 4199 with E-value code: Q520722N)
2. RM400 Instant Cash Redemption + Free 2GB Memory Upgrade for MAINSTREAM (price starts from RM 2999 with E-value code: Q520719N)

RM500 Instant Cash Redemption + Free 2GB Memory Upgrade is meant for Inspiron 1720.

Free delivery is this week's special and only for models with the below E-value code:

QUOTE
Available on InspironTM  1520 Notebooks (E-value code: Q520719N-WEB)
Available on InspironTM  1420 Notebooks (E-value code: Q520710N-WEB, Q520715N-WEB)
Available on InspironTM  1720 Notebooks (E-value code: Q510726N-WEB)
Available on XPSTM  M1330 Notebooks (E-value code: Q510723-WEB)

http://www1.ap.dell.com/content/topics/pro...s=dhs&~lt=popup

Apparently, PERFORMANCE Inspiron 1520 doesn't come with free delivery since its E-value code is Q520722N. Perhaps you may try to negotiate for free delivery if you order through the phone.

Hence, RM 116 is the delivery fee.

Today 16/7/2007

Around 9.00 a.m. :
I just ordered 1420 online which is pink in color this morning for my younger sister.
After I made the order, I called Dell to asked whether I can use the online reference number to be us a ref # when I'm filling up the Telegraphic Transfer (TT) details. The sale rep told me that I can use the online ref #.

Around 11.00 a.m. :
I made payment by TT on the same day.

Around 12.00 p.m. :
I immediately called DELL and told them have made payment through TT. The sale representative ask for my phone and will ask other sale representative regarding my TT payment.

Around 3.00 p.m. :
A sale rep called me regarding my payment. He asked me to fax the TT slip and gave me the customer order no. He said it takes about 2-3 days for the payment to be cleared.

I wonder when the laptop will be arriving since my sister choose pink kalerr.... hahaha
*
No need to worry, pal. Dell will send an email with link to track your order online.

Be patient!

*
Yes, once your order is confirmed and submitted to the system. You're supposed to receive an email from Dell_Order_Confirmation <auto_notification@dell.com>

The email will have hyperlink to point to the tracking page.

Alternatively, if you have your Dell Customer Code and Dell Order(s) Number. You can directly access from

http://cs.ap.dell.com/support/orderstatus/index.aspx

These two numbers should be available to you if your agent did email the quotation in PDF form to you.

WOW>..i'm reading into these review for 1520 pretty impressive imust say.

Give and take on the weight department but i think its worth it to keep the lappie cool and quiet.

Question here: if i were to order 2GB RAM, could i have one 1 piece of 2GB RAM? so in future expansion i just have to buy another GB or 2GB RAM.

Possible to customize this way?  hmm.gif
*
I think shouldn't be a big problem. Just ask for it and they'll charge accordingly.

Called the sales agent just now. She said that there's a shortage on the True Life LCD that caused the delivery delay.

Also asked if she could give any free gift. She said that she could offer me a Dell printer. Well, I just took it. I have forgotten the model number.

From 18th to 23th to 25th.

She said that she couldn't confirm on the delivery date.

I asked about the free gift since I didn't ask anything when I placed my order.
