By right, no need to use Rotation Control since you already set auto rotate. Weird.
*
Some apps like Carousell and a few others wont rotate even with the auto rotate turned on. Happens in Samsung too.

BTW anyone tried the Private Space feature? A lot more clunky than Samsung Knox but it serves its purpose.

For those who have the M-Pen, how long does 1 charge last?
I keep the pen in my bag, it seems to die every 2 days and needs charging.

After 1 week of use of the Mate 20X, I generally like it for the very snappy performance vs my Note 8, the size and battery life.

About EMUI and Apps:

EMUI does need some polishing, as access to Private Space is very clunky and there is no way to easily exit from Private Space.

There is also the weird issue with rotation and the camera due to my own combination of apps using Rotation Control.

Huawei also does not have its own SMS app, it relies on the Google Messages app and Google removed the widget function in v36 and later. I installed the app called Pulse and it allows widgets and a dark theme, and it has no ads.

Its Notepad app also lacks a lot of features that S-Note has, so I just end up using One Note which is cross platform.
What is Kwai? looks like some kind of video app but it needs registration before any use, so screw it.

It's got an IR blaster, so still a good thing to have.

Their themes are not as flexible as MI themes, you can only choose wallpaper and to apply to whole theme or not. It is not granular enough.

Despite these software experience issues, it's overall a great device, and best of all I love the huge screen.

1.Rotation? Maybe me live with normal build in rotation so never meet that problem.
2. Yep, huawei pie don't have message. I take sometime to found out lol
3. Just use the one note... Notepad just suck
4.kwai? Something like ticktok. Not so familiar, just remove it if you don't use it.
4.no comment about wallpaper as I not really care (launcher should help you?)

I use Nova Launcher on all my phones hence the UI is the same across all my phones haha.

Desktop mode is pretty neat. Just hooked it up to a regular multi function hub and it allows desktop mode without needing a fancy expensive DeX hub.

It even supports the built in touch screen driver of my USB monitor. Haha I can make a Tesla-like console with the correct mounts in the car LoL

Just a normal usb-c hub with HDMI out.

Got it on 11.11 for about rm90.

There is no HiSearch in M 20 X but there is a HiVision. Maybe I should disable it.

Managed to use PhoneClone to bring over Samsung Note. It works. S-Note however doesn't work.

So apart from the hulk issue which has been the mainstay of this thread, any other interesting things anyone has done or modded?

Or any nice casings?

My preference is tank-type cases.

I think the most interesting I did is installed Nova Launcher and found the recent app UI is buggy.

Next, I uninstalled Stock Launcher via adb. The now my recent app UI is like Oreo style.

I'm very happy with it.😁
*
No issues after uninstalling the stock launcher?

Can share the steps?

BTW what pre-requisites are needed? Is HiSuite needed?

I was trying to get ADB but the 149mb download doesn't seem to have it, looks like need to download the whole Android SDK of 1Gb.

Just got the case for my mate 20 x, really nice, at least now i don't need to worry about dropping the phone. Haven't put on the glass SP yet, wait until the original film one got scratched then only change, hehe.

How would you rate the Mpen vs Spen in Note series
Does it write smoothly?
*
Hi uncle.!

M-Pen feels a bit too smooth on the phone surface, less tactile feel than the S-Pen.
Performance wise the writing speed is good but not sure how long the pen battery actually lasts. I wonder what is the technology for the M-Pen. At least charging is all by USB-C.

How long it takes to charge?
How long can you use before need to recharge?
*
There is no indicator light on the pen, hence I have no idea how long it should charge, but looking at the size, likely it's a maximum 400mAh battery, so it should charge to max via USB-C within 2 hours.

The pen nib is the hard plastic type, which is why I think the tactile feel sucks on the screen. They have 2 nibs in the box, I haven't checked if it provides different nib types.

As for how long it would last, I don't know yet, coz not using it daily, but last week I charged it up by leaving it on the charger for about 3 hours. The strange thing is it died after 2 days, inside my bag. I don't know why it was so, but this week it has lasted for about 4 days now and still works.

Ok thanks yes there is a small very faint red LED just below the charging port.
It's red while charging. Will check later when (if) it turns color

The Mate 20 X is snappier than my Note 8, and battery is a lot better. Note 8 suffers from battery life issues

Only plus is the Note's software is more polished, and the S-Pen is handier and feels better than the M-Pen.

Either use PhoneClone or backup and restore via Google Backup & Restore.

Face unlock on Mate 20X is hit and miss since it does not have the IR projector like the fapple devices.
The fingerprint scanner is very fast though, even faster response than the Note 8.
