The photos you showing are all taken with sufficient lighting. Have you or do you own a note 8? For an average Malaysian shooting photo of my kid in my house or places that do not always have great lighting it sucks. If you own one and you think that it's good then you are entitled to your opinion and so am I. However if you do not own one and going from those pictures of Flickr then I am going to tell you that the camera SUCKS.

Anyway I'm not here to debate about Note 8 camera. Back to the topic of how Huawei is sticking their fingers up our butt slowly and steadily.
*
I do not own a Note 8. But I had S7E and S8. They are great. The OIS was the best at that time. The Note 8 has the same sensor as S8. To take the advantage of the OIS, the auto mode tends to use lower iso to keep the noise at minimum. However the shutter speed is longer. When you try to shoot running kids indoor, it will be blurry. But I doubt other phone could do it as well. When iphone gained OIS, it too tends to hold the shutter speed longer too. Even entry level DSLR has trouble keeping up with running kids in indoor...don't say a phone.

Just got my mate 20x blue variant .using note 9 and mate x now . the screen although is 1080hdr but is so damn good that I can't different with note 9  . Battery wise this phone really a beast I'm really happy with it. Overall mate x is my definitely recommended 2018 smart phone if you love big phone other wise note 9 is good for a go.
*
Well, you have to view 2160p HDR on Note 9 to compare. Otherwise you are not using it to the full potential. tongue.gif

Any mate 20 pro user here encounter  this problem.. like from home screen, go to facebook app, after few second the screen brightness dim a bit.. From facebook app go home screen, after few second the screen bright a bit.. ( auto brightness, eye comfort is OFF) ...any solutions? Tq
*
I don't have a Mate 20 Pro. But this infamous issue was well known during P10 and Mate 10 era. Some apps like Chrome and FB will have auto dimmer. If you access the app from home by tapping the app icon, the auto dim will be enabled. But if you access it from multi tasking pane, it won't auto dim. It's annoying as hell.

I thought Huawei had stopped doing this since P20 series.

Extreme Condition Green + Abnormal Green = BOM!

If the phone don't have the defect of the abnormal green, like what we can see even in bright environment, the situation wouldn't have become this bad.

This is my full statement.

The photo you showed in abnormal green screen. It is defect, probably like 5% of Mate 20 Pro user being affected.
You should stop to let the Abnormal Green screen haunted you bro. Wake up from the night mare. Be strong!

What I am talked about his the Extreme Condition Green. Which suddenly many people thought only Mate 20 Pro have this issue. In fact, it happened in every OLED screen.

You can use my test image below.
To test green, white or red tint in any OLED.

Below are the prove of Note 8 using my test image.

Weird. My previous Samsung AMOLED, none of them had this issue. Does it only happen to curvy edge screen?

Not really, all OLED have this issue.
In extreme condition, all showing some kind of tint.

It is very similar like most of the Mate 20 Pro user trying to do a test by using Wechat shake screen, turn brightness to lowest and view it in a dark room.

The picture I shared is to "enhanced" those effect. I just want to tell that is no OLED screen is perfect, all are having some sort of tint issue. It depends on how the manufacturer hide it. Limiting the lowest brightness is one of the way to hide this effect.

I know some people here always misunderstood me like I am defending Huawei shit.

Those got screen green issue even is in bright environment, should go to Huawei and exchange a new one.

Er....the test image you gave is not perfectly black. doh.gif

Exactly. OLED very good in "displaying" black. It just turned off the LED. Problem comes when it is super dim, not black.
All OLED have some kind of tint in "near black" image display.

That's why I said, non of the OLED is perfect.

By the way, why would you think I'll give you a black image? Haha...

QUOTE(josh5671 @ Dec 20 2018, 08:54 AM)
Of course that not full black. That's why few reply above I say 90-95% black.
I think it almost same tone with wechat shake. So can standardize the way to test green tint.

My previous black LG unit I didt test with this picture because I can see the green lol (not super serious but can see with naked eyes)

It just up to you. Because some people think that is a BS...
*
Ah I see. I thought it only happened in pure black colour. I thought when people say super dim they were referring to the environment not the screen colour lol. Now I get it.

Anyway I just tried it on my P20 Pro which has Samsung AMOLED. It's only significant in pitch black environment and the noise is grey. Would not even notice this in daily use. But I guess the Mate 20 Pro is more significant. Otherwise why now only people notice it?

People mention super dim green tint was extreme dark condition + 0-10 screen brightness + screen displaying color to appear the green tint.
So there mostly appear on these super dark Grey color.

Some unit was bad enough to see it under 25% brightness + normal color + normal light condition. (like my previous unit)
But increase brightness a bit up to 25%. Green gone.

I can't draw a circle conclude all m20p was behaved like what I say above. But mostly condition was same. If worst... Please go sc otherwise hurt your user experiences
*
I don't gave a M20P but my friend was looking to get one. Seems like most places are out of stock, probably is due to this issue?

So what's the best possible screen in this situation? If get an LG -> green tint in 0-10% brightness. If 20% also still can see green tint, exchange it?

If get BOE panel, it's the same but red tint?

QUOTE(e_mc_square @ Dec 20 2018, 09:39 AM)
Is some sort of butterfly effect or domino effect. haha..

At 1st, OLED screen it self is not perfect.
Then Mate 20 Pro have a serious screen defect which you will see some sort of green bleed from the edge of the screen.
The defect unit you can even see the green in bright environment.

Then ngam ngam people found that in dark environment, dimmest screen display, Mate 20 Pro will show "green" in grey image or near black image (Wechat shake screen or wechat scan screen).

Then people started to thought the extreme condition green is an issue. Even if the green didn't notice at all in normal use, people still feel uncomfortable about it. tongue.gif

Ya. I think the second event is an aftermath that is not related.

In 0% brightness and dark environment. BOE screen you will see top red, bottom green/purple. in grey or near black image. In China, they called it "Yin Yang Screen".

BOE screen seems doesn't have the severe green issue like LG (The one can even see in bright environment). But it has other defects (not all, just small numbers).

Aiyo, every phone have some % of defect la, that's why they give warranty.

Many places out of stock ar, but if your friend get one now, should be BOE screen. I think the new batch is all BOE screen.
*
OK thanks for the info. notworthy.gif
Yeah I understand the situation. But of course I wouldn't want to be the one to recommend a faulty device to my friend haha. Later kena screw lol
