I just switched to Maxis Fibre 100Mbps from Unifi 100Mbps. Problem is, I'm using an ASUS router and would like to keep it for Maxis. The Fibrehome unit which I'm using is an AN5506-04-BG. The issue here is that for Maxis, the VOIP is via the RJ11 ports on the TP-Link Archer C5v router, but the ASUS RT-AC3200 doesn't have any RJ11 ports; Unifi's VOIP service is connected via the RJ11 on the Fibrehome unit.

So, how do I keep my ASUS router as well as get to use the VOIP? Any solution?

TIA for any help/suggestions.

U try check ur asus router VOIP port is what? I think it should be Asus LAN port 3, then u connect ur LAN cable to Asus LAN3 to Maxis TPLINK WAN port, then you test whether can use VOIP or not.

Be informed your Asus must choose Maxis Home profile. If it doesn't work then try plug Asus LAN4 to test.

Connect both at the same time. Let the Maxis line terminate at their own router so you can use the RJ11 then use your own router for your wired+wireless connection.

Okay, that's interesting. When I set up my router to Maxis Fibre mode, it says VOIP on LAN port 3(!?) which makes no sense as RJ45 LAN ports aren't made for analogue phones.

Anyway, now that you mention it, I'm going to try to set up the Archer C5v to connect to the ASUS' LAN port 3 via the WAN interface and see if that works. Never thought of trying that, but I hope it turns out well. I don't mind having another device turned on (and doing nothing except providing VOIP) rather than not being able to use the free phone calls feature.

Thanks mate.

Yes you are right, it will work well.... Port 3 on asus automatically set to bridge mode which is for VOIP use, so just plug in TPLINK wan port and you ready to use it.

How about latest result? Is it work?
I plan to buy new router “asus ac86u” to become main router. And change “acher c5v” (maxis provide) to second AP router. That voIP phone unit still work?

No you can't, u can either use AP without voip or use voip without AP.

Because voip need different vlan id which is can't work together.

621 internet
821 voip

Once you choose maxis home profile the router automatically set port 3 as bridge mode which is vlan 821 that port only for voip, so internet won't work, and AP no function at all.

I get your mean.
Another question. If i still use “tp link archer” be main router. And use “asus ac86u” be AP router.
Is it will slow down asus router performance?
I mean cannot unleash 100% power of asus.
Because i concern gaming latency.

If use Asus as AP it'll use asus CPU more than TPLINK.

I know this post was 3 years ago, but I have the same question o this. I just installed Maxis broadband, they gave me latest wifi6 router (black colour with stand), but I prefer to use Asus latest wifi6 router. This Asus router does not come with rj11 port, so what I need to do is just connect lan3 Asus router port to Maxis router wan port? how about Maxis broadbank acc? Shall I setting it on Asus router and disable it on Maxis router? The Maxis phone acc setting remain on Maxis router? Pls help me as I prefer Asus Technology and it air mesh system.

Maxis original router no need to do any setting, just disable wifi will do.

Then follow this guide
