Am on 100 Mbps, stock router Archer C1200.

The wifi strength is very poor compared to my old Unifi router (think it's DIR 615 - the orange one).

My Unifi is only 10 Mbps. But if I were to go inside a room and close the door I can still get 2-5 Mbps from DIR-615.

For C12000 I could barely even connect, and even if I manage to do so I could barely hit 1Mbps.

I tried both 2.4G and 5G - same. Tried making it exclusive to just 802.11n or 802.11ac but that made it even worse.

But if I were to come into an open space with the router - no problem at all. 100 Mbps.

Thoughts?

Try adjust a bit on the positioning of the Router.

Thanks.

Helped a bit. Now I can get 10-50 Mbps in all three rooms. But only if I disconnect and reconnect. It seems like the router doesn't like it when you move around.

Scenario (Time C1200):

Currently near the router. 100 Mbps easy.
Goes into a room. Closes the door.
It shows I'm still connected to Wifi, but there's really no data coming through.
Disconnect Wifi, and reconnect again.
10-50 Mbps connection in the room.

Scenario (Unifi DIR-615):

Currently near the router. 10 Mbps easy.
Goes into a room. Closes the door
I'm still connected to Wifi. I can browse etc.
2-8 Mbps connection in the room.

Thoughts?

Haha ok got it. It's because I still have Unifi on, and it's in one of the rooms. Once off, there's no dropoff anymore (I guess Unifi router was interfering with Time's).

Problem solved.
