Frankly, not really recommending this, if you want to utilize the subsidy price, then Asus AC86U is a much better choice.

It is better to get Huawei AX3 Pro, it is around RM27X to 29X.
I mean if you are investing into new router, then you should consider Wifi 6 router such as AX3 Pro.

So far I saw those review and testing by users on youtube show it is really impressive for the price your are paying.
Importantly, future proof  at the moment.

Time does not required VLAN tagging, so it can be use to replace Time router.
But I understand the AX3 PRO also can support VLAN for Unifi or Maxis.

Regarding setup, the downside of these router still come with Chinese Language on their WebGui.
If you know Chinese this is very easy, just goto WAN setting and put in the TIME - Username and password.
Then Configure your wifi name and password.

Alternative, they also come with APP (Hi-Link) that I understand do support English.
You can also setup using the app which relative easier, since it will guide you thru the installation.

I don't own the AX3 Pro router yet, I'm still using Tenda AC18 with addition unit of TIME Tplink AC1200 as AP router.

For consideration, I will also look at:-
Asus also got similar range of AX router selling at around of your budget.
Asus know to be good with their Firmware update also support Merlin Firmware as alternative.

Precisely on your questions, alternative I saw Xiaomi AX3600 Wifi 6 router (around RM40X to 49X).
In term of Wifi performance which give a edge line better, and also support AIoT devices for smart home (such as door /windows security sensor, temperature, etc)
AIoT router function is build in with AX3600,  so you don't need separate ZipBee router (sorry can't remember exact name of the technology).

For me, it is much cheaper to go with AX3 Pro and;
most of the Wifi 6 router already support mesh network, thus is easier to expand by having another one to cover further range if needed.

Hello, for better Wi-Fi Coverage.
It is highly recommended to get an expensive router to cover the whole house.

Using Repeater will cut the speed into half if you share it via wireless.
Or pulling LAN Cable to create an access point will give a better speed than using Repeater.

Agreed with FusionXY, repeater is a bad idea with the existing router.
First, wifi speed reduced more than half and including ping speed which affect gaming alot.
2ndly, if you move around the house, it does not support fast change or roaming over like mesh router, let you connecting to wrong router when you are in a wrong area.

Ofcourse for speed, you can pull a Lan cable connecting to the repeated or like I do here, connecting to Time Tplink AC1200 as AP router.
I'm happy with my setup now, in living room and master bedroom, my phone can achieve 4XX mbps and 2nd &3rd bedroom is around 3XX mbps on Time 500mbps package.
I stay in condo around 1075 sqft, due congestion in 2.4 ghz and also 3 thick walls between 2nd and 3rd room resolve into 2nd router.

If a good router can reach behind those walls, I will rather use high-end router like FusionXY suggested.
For my case, I know it won't be as good having a cheap 2nd AP.
To have better mobility between the router, I have setup my 2nd router with different SSID so I know if I'm connected to wrong router.
So far it switch nicely 80% of the time and this is something I may want to improve in the future with mesh capability.

TIME ONU carries a lifetime warranty as long as you are still using the service.

No need to do that.

P/S : Out of our curiosity, how is that possible that you are not being advised on the above matter prior to signing up ?
