Hi I have just got my Time Fiber today. So they gave me Huawei HG8145V5 as my router. So I want to change the DHCP Server Primary and Secondary DNS but they somehow blocked it.

I have TPlink Deco E4 and TPlink Archer A6 that I use with my Unifi previously. Is there a way for me to use any/both of these two to bypass the Huawei router so my connection would be connected to the DNS that I want?

I want to use my Getflix SmartDNS, which is the main reason I need to change the Primary and Secondary DNS.

This router HG8145V5 does not allow DNS to be set on the WAN interface and TIME says if want to set, use own router.
And if want to set to bridge mode, need to call TIME.

What kinda ISP does not allow network settings to be changed on the modem router? mad.gif

I already called TIME and told them i want to set the huawei router to bridge mode to my Tplink router. But i cant see where i can access the bridge mode on huawei? Can you please tell me how to get to it?

Hi, I just installed TIME broadband at home 2 days ago. and just found out that when I browse Facebook or other social media platform using web browser, the image or video is not shown/ blank.
even in lowyat forum, video like from tiktok/instagram cant be load up.

I tried using my mobile phone and other device and have the same result.

what could cause these problem?
*
i have the same problem too and i have just got mine installed last Friday. already called TIME and asked them to rectify this. can you please call TIME too and ask them to check whats the actual problem. so they will be alerted that there are more people making complaints about this.

Make sure you know how to setup your router properly or you will end up with no Internet connection

Prepare the PPPOE username and password
*
will they setup the ONT remotely or they have to come to my house? I already have my PPPOE username and password.

saw the TIME technician changed DNS on his laptop wired to the Huawei modem/router and the problem persists.

I got my connection problem fixed. Not entirely sure how it was fixed though.

This morning there was no internet connection at all so i called their cs and they said they will reset something. Maybe adapter or port? It wasn't very clear. So I switch the modem off and on and then i got to access all the social media sites without problem. Hopefully the problem will not reoccur later.

I notice similar pattern on both of your latest comment, which is posted using ipv4 and both of you mention it is fixed. Your other comments while facing the issue is posted with ipv6 enabled. https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/2137798

Maybe the huawei device is having some issue with its ipv6 configuration?
*
not sure exactly. but it is possible if you say so. but glad got it fixed now. and i got the router to be in bridge mode. now can use my tplink router to setup my dns. much easier now. rclxm9.gif rclxm9.gif rclxm9.gif

EDIT: received a call again just now, suddenly everything is ok...  sweat.gif  must be they did something at HQ
*
Yeah i think they must have just realized how to fix it. Could be connected to the ipv6 issue. May i know the area where you live? Just trying to estimate if we could have had the same technician who installed our modem. Lol

TIME down at my building this morning. Called TIME and was told the whole building is experiencing this problem? I have been using unifi at this same building since 2014 and barely had any problems. I can actually count using my fingers the need to call unifi cs about internet connection in all that 7 years. And i have been using Time for one week only and there are so many problems with their service. Gonna report to mcmc then. So stupiak having to face this level of incompetency.

Guys if i want to use my own router, i need to call to TIME to change my Huawei ONU to modem mode or something right?
*
give them a call, tell them that you want to use your huawei ONT in bridge mode. they can do it remotely. make sure you have your PPPOE username and password so you can make the setup with your own router.

Hi. anyone knows if the huawei wifi 6 router that we will get if we upgrade our plan will allow us to change the DNS on the router itself? It's for my SmartDNS use.

Yes you can login using the credentials at the bottom of the ONT.
*
So the setting for the DNS can be changed on the huawei router itself right. Thanks!
