My 30mbps Unifi copper contract (2 yrs) will be ending on 31 December 2022, I am planning to switch to Time Fiber when the day comes. (Would appreciate for any tips/steps/procedures required to properly terminate the Unifi account)
I have one question though, is it possible for me to plug the fiber optic cable directly into a GPON SFP Module on Mikrotik RB5009 router? (please refer to attached image)
Does TIME allow such configuration? My goal here is to skip the ONT provided by Time.
I'm aware of the potential complications it could have on other customers. The quote below is from a Reddit comment I came across.

Assuming it “works”, ranges and passes traffic, the issues I eluded to above have to do with the ONT respecting his time slot. If your 3rd party ONT is turning his laser out of sync or slightly differently than the OLT is expecting, you’re going to cause drift of window errors. These errors cascade through the PON since this is a shared access time medium causing everyone to have issues. If you’re in a dense environment, that could mean you’re taking down 31-127 other customers.
That said, is what I'm suggesting possible? If so I'm gonna get myself an RB5009, otherwise, I'll proceed with the bridged mode like people usually do...
