Time fibre finally enters my taman.

Just a taman in the B40 area and not even in main city actually. Quite shocked when I saw that!

They planted a concrete pole just beside the TM pole at the back of my house around end of august.

Now they're in the midst of lying the cable as well as labelling the concrete pole.

But it seems that the fibre cable that they're using are so thin, around the thickness of CAT6 cable when compared with Unifi one, which is thick.

The FTB also smaller than Unifi and only got around 1-3 FTB for the whole jalan, compared with Unifi which got around 5-6 FTB.

But well, I still can't subscribe to Time even when their infra is ready at my area. Just renewed my contract with Unifi last June.. 1Gbps for RM159 and still in the 'honeymoon' period (free bills for 6 months) rolleyes.gif

Does Time suffered same 'routing problem' like unifi where at certain time, Twitter (X) will load slower than usual, usually around 8pm-12am at night.

Nope

TIME do not have a congestion issue for now

My only complain for TIME is routing issue to China.

Big impact if you buy China domestic market smart home device from Taobao. Will suffer slow response and lagginess.

Thanks for the feedback. Clearly it's a right choice for my neighbour to terminate his Unifi and migrate to Time since the infra will ready at our taman by the end of this year.
I'll migrate to time as well later when my contract with unifi end (still a long way to go, and hope there are still available port then) sad.gif

It seems that Time only use a thin fibre cable to, looks like they deploy a cat6 cable at the pole. Really thin when compared with TM. Two lorong at my taman, they laying the cable at the front drain instead of concrete pole.

TM fibre has more fibre in it. And they have to splice it manually. TIME just connect, so deployment is fast.

Depending on area, some is on pole, some on drainage like mine. At Perai industrial zone, they use pole.

Just want to ask since you've been using Time for a while, can I opt to use my own router with Time?
For the new subscription onward, is it still possible to 'simply' call the CS to change Time Huawei router to bridge mode?

This is the Huawei Fast Connect cable where it contains single core to connect from subbox to your house, kinda fragile & prone to damage very easily.

Ya, personally I think that the cable that they use looked so fragile. BTW, this is not connection from subbox or FTB? to home, it's from the their manhole at the front of lorong to the pole... sweat.gif
I'm still thinking whether I will migrate from Unifi or Time.
Because as I read throughout this thread, it seems that Time wasn't that really good actually compared to Unifi. rolleyes.gif

It’s the same type from FDP->House, much better than what TM uses imo. It’s stiffer than it looks. Inside it has reinforcement. I’m 2y+ on TIME with this, no problem. But your area might be different if there’s rat etc. They won’t break unless something go and break it on purpose.

My only issue with TIME is just the connection to China.
If don’t want switch to TIME, I recommend transfer to Maxis instead, but if using TM network, anything wrong with your fibre, might be a little hard to get fixed because Maxis need to contact TM.

From my installation:

They use this one for drain, manhole(if area has it for fibre) and business buildings.
On pole, it’s different but still using the same connector.

Actually, I just renewed my contract with unifi last May, taking their SWU offer, 1Gbps for RM159. Free 6 months. Speed will revert back to 500Mbps after 2 years.

But when I saw Time finally installing their infra at my taman, suddenly I feel 'excited' to try it because yeah, before this I thought that Time is far more 'superior' than Unifi but after reading throughout this thread since this morning, I need to think it again.

BTW, my initial plan is to relocate my current unifi to my brother house, as he want to take it and pay the bills, and install Time 600Mbps (RM139) when the infra is ready soon at my house (Maybe, very soon since their agent are already putting the banner around my taman).

It seems that you're knowledgeable about Time infra,
Do you know why they suddenly expanding their service even in rural and small town like my house ya?
Because before this, they only willing to give their service to major town and state capital.
Maybe they suddenly got the MCMC assistance by 'USP funds thingy' to expand the fibre service to rural areas like TM?
Or part of their CSR? sweat.gif
My area only got the Unifi infra at the end of 2020!
