I just called CS and they advise me better use Linksys Velop for better coverage. According to them, AC86U is "Good for gaming" but is not designed for coverage....i have no idea since i never use it. Are you experiencing better coverage with AC86U? FYI, my apartment is 1100 sqft which i think it's not that sizable and hope to cover by using only One good router and i am thinking the most cost effective and fastest way is direct replacing my current C1200 (3 antennas) with the EC-230 (4 antennas)to enhance the coverage issue.

1100 sqft should be no problem with AC86U. Well still positioning is important

1850sqft is much larger area. My biggest challenge in my house is the signal has to penetrate 3 concrete walls to reach my master bedroom. Hope AC86U can do wonders on this.
Well with you guys users' experience, it should be much convincing than CS.  biggrin.gif

Just a quick comparison for your situation. Hope this helps:

Left: Sitting 2 meters from the router (living room). No obstructions.
Right: Sitting in bedroom. 3 walls, bedroom door closed. About 10 meters. Quite a big drop but >100mbps is just enough I think.

Additional info: Android phone, wifi AC, Time 500mbps.

Btw I do install external fans for my AC86. It runs a little bit hot. Great performance but well known for its thermal issues. Local set, 1.5 years old.

My unit is running hot, need to put a fan kit (RM30+). Performance wise AC86U is great for me overall.

Was there a noticeable performance difference after installing the fans?
*
No improvement. It just performs like it should be performing.
I'm just trying not to get it overheated for prolonged usage. So many cases when I did some reading before I bought it.

Why is no one talking about the frequent downtime that lasts hours and happens a few times a month?

My TIME account entering 4th year and the plastic cable trunking outside my unit has started to give way. The contractor used a short nail and some parts of the trunking is now hold by the fibre cable itself sweat.gif

Any quick remedy? I'm trying not to do something major to avoid damage to the fibre cable.

Glue? Double sided tape? I don't think this will work on a dusty wall.

Guys, by any chance Huawei HG8240H5 ONU will get spoilt due to life span etc?

Been using TIME since 2017 and WFH since March 2020. Can't afford to have downtime. I have spare router but not the ONU.

Just having a thought in case the ONU fails.

Hi, rarely happens, even though when it's faulty, usually caused by the faulty power adaptor, you can easily get one to replace while waiting for SI to attend to your case.

Thanks.

What router you all been using for time? Recently the time tech came and advised to change to newer model of tp link as current model tp link( stock 3 antenna) can't support too many connected devices. Any recommendations?
*
There are many better ones than stock router provided by Time. However it depends on your budget. If you state your budget, many people here can recommend.

Just renewed my 500Mbps contract with RM20 off for 24 months...become RM119/month. I think it's a good deal.

Was about to ask this in this thread. There was a popup about this offer this morning when I logged into my account.

Guess I'm going to proceed as well.

What is your previous package? 500Mbps?
*
Yes 500Mbps. What I understand, it's not "previous". Still current package of 500Mbps with temporary boost to 600Mbps.
