QUOTE(hspace @ Dec 27 2018, 11:24 AM) Yeah, this. I just changed from Maxis 10Mbps to TIME 100mbps, and there seems to be no difference in website loading speed. In fact sometimes it seems slower. There is noticeable lag when loading web pages. And the range of Wifi of the provided TP-Link 5Ghz router seems less and shorter than the old 2.4Ghz Maxis router. Used to be able to still get WiFi in one of my further rooms. Now can't. New TIME router is in exact same position as the old Thomson Maxis router. Wonder if RM89 for Maxis 30Mbps was the better deal after all. You can promise 100Mbps, but maybe there's a reason why it's much cheaper than other providers. I can't comment on the service you're getting because I am enjoying very good speeds. However I can comment on the router setup. 5Ghz wifi has lower penetration through walls compared to 2.4Ghz wifi, even though 5Ghz can give you speeds >300Mbps (under ideal situations). This is known, and many of us here have suffered through the same, regardless of ISP. The only option is to change to a more powerful router and/or invest in a mesh system.

QUOTE(hspace @ Dec 27 2018, 11:54 AM) I see. Makes sense with 5Ghz. Wondering - when you say very good speeds, is that through speed tests? Assume you're on 100Mbps - do websites (esp overseas) load almost instantly? Have you used Maxis Fibre before? Cheers Through speed tests and real-world usage: Netflix FullHD 2x simultaneous streams + 1 HD youtube user at the same time Websites load with no hitch. I've posted my speedtest results before, basically to get 800Mbps I need to do a direct wired connection to the mesh node. Wireless seems stable at 400-500Mbps near the main node, but drops significantly further away. It's better now that I am on mesh, before this I couldn't get connection on my bed and some devices just time out. I use maxis fibre at the office. It's better than Unifi, that's for sure.

QUOTE(justinlee7892 @ Dec 27 2018, 12:02 PM) I currently have Time Fibre internet (500Mbps plan) and using the TP-Link AC1200 router provided by Time for free. However I am only getting about 250Mbps on WiFi connection. Any recommendations for a best bang for buck router that will reach close to 500Mbps? My budget is around RM200-300 Hehe, no such thing bro. You want those speeds you'll have to run LAN cable to your PC.

QUOTE(hspace @ Dec 27 2018, 12:07 PM) Ahh. Perhaps that's the difference. I'm only on 100Mbps. By seat of the pants, I really don't feel that much of a difference with Maxis 10Mbps, when websuring, viewing youtube. Only difference so far are those free Korean drama streaming sites less lag hahaha. I suspect this is why Maxis is more "expensive". TBH I started out on the 20Mbps AstroIPTV package, and it was already good even then. You'll see the difference when more devices are connected at the same time.

QUOTE(red_scorpion @ Jan 11 2019, 12:41 AM) So bro, you meant Ipv4 i can get speed closely to Ipv6 speed also? i have tested many times..really ipv4 just around 40-70mpbs, if ipv6 around 250-350mbps...big diff..tested using same phone..whats the problem here actually? router problem or TIME stability in my condo ? good morning. This sounds like a weird problem. I haven't encountered this before and I only use IPV4. Since you can actually register 3xx mbpbs speeds I assume you're on an AC-capable device. What does a wired connection say?

QUOTE(red_scorpion @ Jan 11 2019, 10:37 AM) Thanks for the replied bro. Ya, I tested wired connection, can reach until 500mbps.. So in summary: (i) Wired : 500mbps (ii) Ipv6 5ghz wifi : 300mbps (iii) Ipv4 2.4ghz wifi: 40-60mbps So , is this normal? or Ipv4 2.4ghz wifi connection got problem? I already try change to less congestion channel..but still the same result..changed to google dns also same.. I think I am going to assume you're referring to 2.4ghz vs 5ghz wifi. In that case, that's pretty normal. 2.4ghz is INCREDIBLY congested especially in a condo setting. I live in a similar situation, which was only improved once I used a Mesh solution.

Good morning everyone. Just wanted to share a real-life example of why once you have TIME you can never go back, and why wired is the best, really. I needed to download work files totalling 28 gb. The first file, 318 mb, saved almolst immediately once I clicked "save", and the 6gb files took around 2 minutes. TIME FTW

QUOTE(rae0724 @ Aug 13 2019, 02:31 PM) i am using wireless now, coz my cable seems got problem. but i cant just buy a new cable just for testing right? i didnt hope for a full speed for wireless, but at least.. 50% A LAN cable is cheap, and is also included in the box your router came in, or you can use an older one if you have it lying around. On my 1Gbps line, I get 800-900 on LAN and maybe 300-500 on wifi. This is a known fact depending on the device you use, your location relative to the router, wireless congestion in your area etc. Better borrow a cable and try it out.

QUOTE(JeffxMatt @ Mar 13 2020, 10:37 AM) I was just thinking of installing TIME at my rented house (Palace Court Condominium, Old Klang Road) but I now have several concerns, namely: 1. The recent posts about the service disruptions and slow speed; 2. If I were to move and the new place does not support TIME, will I be penalised; and 3. Would TIME be better compared to Unifi for streaming and playing online games (PS4) (this mostly goes back to my concern at no.1 above). Thoughts on the above are very much welcomed, thanks in advance. Hi, 1. These disruptions are recent and not indicative of our experience in general, so hopefully it's just a temporary thing. 2. There will be a penalty if you move and have to cancel the line 3. In my 5 years of using it, TIME is definitely better, so I hope these disruptions end quickly.

QUOTE(tartt @ Feb 1 2023, 11:48 AM) So, no free upgrade to 2Gbps? The provided modem/router is not even good I read and they charge us. I have zenwifi xt12 and wondering if their lousy device will impact the performance of my own device. Any feedback on 2Gbps performance? Hello everyone. Long time no return here. Just did the upgrade to 2Gbps today, upgrading my current 1Gbps package. On the 2.5gb via wired connection of course, it's beautiful, but now I am itching to return to my Deco X20 because I feel naked on the stock HNB245X6s. Anyone have any tips on how to just run the device as a modem and use back my Deco? EDIT: If I understand correctly, I just need to: i) Turn off the Wifi radios ii) Turn off the DHCP server so it stops functioning as a router. anything else I missed? Cannot tahan wanting to put back my Deco. This post has been edited by Lord_Ashe: Feb 2 2023, 10:01 PM

QUOTE(blacktubi @ Feb 2 2023, 10:18 PM) The Deco X20 is a huge downgrade from the HN8245X6 though You might want to consider Deco XE200 All in good time sir, maybe next year haha, but really it’s a huge downgrade if I go back to the AX20? Mmmm didn’t think of that haha. To be fair, the combination of the ONT and two huawei “mesh repeaters” they gave as part of the upgrade does seem to provide me with pretty good speeds even in my bedroom which previously only got 40-70 mbps down. Now almost 200 lol.

QUOTE(blacktubi @ Feb 2 2023, 10:54 PM) Yes, the Deco X20 is just Wi-Fi 6 AX1800 The router from the 2Gbps plan supports AX6000, almost 3x more capacity I guess that seals it for now! Thanks for the info, now I get to fantasize about the XE200… (Although I still will be curious how to make it work with the new ONT)

QUOTE(e_mc_square @ Feb 24 2023, 11:37 AM) Thank you JJ and his co-worker come to my house to fix the fiber optic signal issue. Although a bit pricy, but they've done it professionally with all the necessary tools. Efficient and professional. Highly recommended for those who in Penang can find him to solve your internet issue. Hopefully the times router installation will be smooth next Monday. jjj is an awesome guy. He even helped me with my first Mesh sets back in 2018. I wish he wasn't in Penang tho haha. right now as a new 2gbps subscriber I have to say I am somewhat happy with the stock Time equipment, but I will definitely migrate the ONT to bridge mode and use a TPlink Deco XE75 (now must save money).

QUOTE(H2O3 @ Feb 25 2023, 11:56 AM) Hi all. Currently using huawei WA8021v5 as router after upgrade to 300 mbps. Will it work if I buy another huawei WA8021v5 to mesh with the existing router to boost the coverage? Recommend using a proper Mesh setup bos. You will never look back. 🤣
