Hi, I am planning to build a website, my audiences are only based in Malaysia.

Should I use local hosting or global hosting?

Which would you recommend?

I want the fastest load speed and the lowest latency.

For local audience, use a local server.

For speed, don't use shared hosting. A VPS would be good. I use DigitalOcean in SG. Alibaba Cloud also has local DCs.

With a VPS, you can optimise it as you see fit for speed.

Fast speed and low latency... go for Tier 2 or Tier 1 datacentre. Like AIMS & Strateq.

On another hand, VPS may be good too if you want total control or a dedicated server may seems good.

But if the hosting was only a static website then any hosting provider will do, the only thing that needs such speed & latency is only when you are running an e-commerce website where the transactions is high (like Lazada, Shopify etc.)

Else it makes no sense to invest in such high capacity hosting servers. And if you really need so, then go for either Dedicated Server or VPS hosting.

There are some names like a2 hosting, fastcomet, tmd hosting.

You can take a look at https://www.wponeapp.com/best-cheap-web-hosting-providers/, to know more.

It is always good to have a server nearby to your audience. If the loading speed of your website is fast, then it will improve the overall user experience. Lower network latency is proportional to a better user experience.

So I recommend you to go with a hosting provider whose servers are available in Malaysia or Singapore. Both locations will give you excellent latency and one of the best user experience. Singapore has better infrastructure so that you will get a server at a more affordable price.

You can find Singapore or Malaysian Dedicated Service providers here.

If you want speed go for VPS. Ensure you get a server in regions which have friendly internet laws.
It may not necessarily be Malayasia. It can be Singapore as well.
Good luck.
