If it is not stipulated by Apple & Maxis, likely it won't work/ default disable by Apple.

But let's wait for someone who willing to try it out before buying one, unless you are okay to buy a cellular version but use the bluetooth only.

I think is not discontinued right? You can still get it but need to pay.
And the eSIM is just a sim type like nano or micro, it should be no restriction.
