==> You'll Never Walk Alone <==

When you walk through a storm hold your head up high
And don't be afraid of the dark.
At the end of a storm there's a golden sky
And the sweet silver song of a lark.
Walk on through the wind,
Walk on through the rain,
For your dreams be tossed and blown.
Walk on, walk on with hope in your heart
And you'll never walk alone,
You'll never walk alone.

Walk on, walk on with hope in your heart
And you'll never walk alone,
You'll never walk alone.

QUOTE(maxxsp @ Sep 30 2018, 03:02 AM)
All in all a tough game. Our front three looked tired out there, I think Salah needs a rest.
Henderson should have been taken off earlier, three 'workhorse' players in midfield just doesn't allow for enough creativity.

Woke up half the house when Sturridge scored  laugh.gif
Happy we got at least a point AND remain unbeaten  rclxms.gif

VVD looks so calm at the back, and I noticed anothing thing, which is Gomez, he is too, fucking calm at the back line. He wont get nervous by the high pressing.

Alisson definitely the MOTM for me.

Sturridge is already joint top scorer with Mane. Speaks much about his form at the moment.

Am I the only one who thinks Liverpool play poor yesterday? Chelsea keep pressuring Liverpool like how Liverpool did against City thus Liverpool were forced to make a quick pass and pass to the back. They always won the ball in the air and better at keeping the ball. Crosses were poor too (Robbo's cross to Shaqiri were probably the only good cross IIARC). On the bright side, despite that kind of play, Liverpool still manage to find a lot of good chances.

About monkeying, maybe. About football, he knows jacksh**.
Astro picks the useless losers to commentate because they are cheap -Collymore is a joke himself, but to get that nobody on the show tells you how desperate the program is. And don't get me started on the weird white guy.

We played an excellent second period game. We were all over them closing to break. Shaqiri (Robertson's teasing cross) , Firmino (header) , Salah (dribbled past Arizabalaga) had the golden opportunity to seal the game. But what was the key to an delusional view from fans (not you) , is the poor finishing. We knew this would be as close as possible. And it was that tight! Henderson, in particular left loads of space in the centre half for Hazard and Kovacic to make dangerous runs and passes to front liners. Henderson's 5 yards passes left , right , back , sideways is utterly not captain material football..also you may agree how Mane dropped down little to receive passes from Keita when he came on. Henderson keeps yelling when someone misses the passes or doesn't cut in for his so-called through balls. And you saw how he was frustrated when Klopp made the changes. He was momentarily slowing down our moving forward momentum and pace. Henderson, its time up for him and i guess Keita needs to step up and make that mid-half 3 strengthen.

We played really well in both half, except for number of final-third decision making (passes, shots, headers, misses)

On to the next one : City!

ya, i agree with you. we are weak in the air except of VVD.

with team like chelsea we can still create tht many chances is a plus sign for me... the only thing tht worry me is still the interaction between the strikers.... hope they are doing fine and blend well off the field.

They'll come good. For now i wish that one of them would be benched and Shaqiri or Keita should come. Tweak the formation little. We will be good.

He is the biggest idiot on Astro, and we've had Shebby Singh in that period. Somebody has to put him back in his cage.

No disrespect to either of them, but gini and hendo are too similar in nature to play at the same time. We won't need 2 mid to recycle possession. I rate Milner as different class now, clearly can pick out a pass.

Exactly. If we still have Stevie G who can score goals, make killer passes, take free kicks, convert penalties and defend, it would still be ok having the three of them together. Like I said, they’re all very similar type of players. All the workhorse type but too 1 dimensional. Either Gini or Hendo. I will definitely pick Gini over Hendo.

We need to find a replacement for Coutinho. We need to have free kick specialist. Our fks were abysmal that game.

IMHO, VVD is the MOTM. Many key interceptions were made by him. Liverpool's defence is still shaky I'd say. As pointed out, we were pressured by Chelsea & couldn't find our usual rhythm. I really hope we continue our fine form or this draw will be a foreshadow of more blips & draws in future.

Salah needs rest. He's not in good form & I'm afraid he's lost his confidence. Hopefully the others can step up & be worthy substitutes of Salah, Firmino, etc.

Klopp needs to find a way to breakthrough Chelsea's type of play yesterday. Or else, everyone else will play this method against us. We were a bit wasteful in our chances. I think as the season goes on, our attack will only get more lethal and the goals will come.

Still, Liverpool deserves some credit. Our undefeated record remains intact in the league, currently joint-top, and have a wonderful keeper. I hope our latest team can be the team that finally break the long jinx of not winning the league.

I will pick Gini over Hendo too now (and I have always rated Hendo), his ability to take on players edges him ahead. If only he could/ allowed to do that closer to the opponents' goal.

In my opinion, Shaqiri is on par with Coutinho's set piece prowess, if not even slightly higher. And Keita is supposed to be the man that fills the creativity void, but he has not 'arrived' at English football yet.

Having one is a double edged sword la. He can the reference point, but of course the team would be very dependent on him. I think our form in the 2nd half of the season had shown what is needed to overcome that loss, namely a midfield runner who can also bring the ball forward and deliver killer pass time to time. We had AOC for that, Keita is supposed to be even an upgrade on him, but sadly he is taking his time to announce his 'arrival'.

We now have a PROPER squad to challenge on both PL and CL fronts.

The only glaring weakness is probably at LB with Moreno sub to Robertson.

In all other areas, there is adequate quality in Back ups including strking department as we have witnessed.

Astro has the worst pundits. I used to switch channel during half time and and switch to Sky Sports/BT stream at full time.

All Abbas Saad, Shebby and Steve McMahon do are blaming the strikers on how shit they are when they can't put the ball on target, or how shit the defenders are when they shouldn't let the pass through. Nothing insightful at all.

Thank god for free streamz.

Best to not totally agree-ing with their opinions, form your own during half time. G Nev is considered good but not everything is totally correct.

For the first time this year, Robin Hood mode is totally gone. Liverpool is confirmed a strong title contender with City.

Salah is a victim of his past year's outperformance.

Expecting him to perform as last year is over expecting. Unless you are a Messi or Ronaldo, it will not happen. Especially in a Liverpool team.
The goals are expected to be shared around and no one player is expected to take the spotlight although it happened last season.

Just rewatch the extended highlights of Chelsea vs Liverpool. There is one thing I would like to point out. Which is the two most expensive keeper, both of them had outstanding and world class performance. But Kepa impress me a lot in his distribution skills, his crossing from the penalty box is accurate, his fast distribution after an attack from us is accurate as well, he knows how to initiate a counter attack. Reminds me a lot of Reina!

Not saying Alisson is not good though. Its just giving credit to Kepa for his good performance.

I was checking twitter feed while watching the match, seems like Bein Sports feed having about 1mins+ delay. That's kinda excessive.

Henderson play like shit today. Salah and Mane kept disrupting the counter attack.
Before the game, i watched back all Salah goals and game play in previous season. Seems like one of missing piece is Oxy on the right side.

True, not particularly Ox, just any player to combine with him on the right channel. Of course his drive from midfield as well as ability to take long shots create space too. We just don't have anyone doing those things now, all 3 players capable of that are out: Lala, Ox, Keita.

Oh, that makes it 3 games without a win now guys. It's entirely possible it gets to 4 by end of this week, crisis anyone?

i notice tht if the opponent plays good one touch football / quick passing, they will break kloops style of playing...

last yr was, if the opponent plays defensively and counter us.

hope he can learn how to win ugly.

Shaqiri did quite well against Southampton. I always prefer our 3rd mid is free roam attacking. the kind that can swap roles/position with either front 3. makes it more confusing for defenders to mark brows.gif
still dont understand why Klopp didnt throw in Shaqiri in when Keita got injured. start watching at 30+ mins. didnt know Keita was starting & got injury until half time sweat.gif

I'm supposed Shaqiri is too offensive to be played in the mid 3 against an opponent of Napoli's quality... And it's not a game we really need to win at all costs, but then Klopp did start his best 11.. I'm afraid only he knows what he was doing... Can't really see what he intended to achieve with such plan, starting best 11 but content with a draw.

i would rather have shaqiri, as hes able to do those typical lobbed passes to take advantage of runs...
instead of constantly trying to run directly at the defence or crossing in from the wings...

there was a point where milner tried a lobbed pass into the box, after shouting at hendo to leave it, which salah almost got to...

Klopp's desire to win the BPL this season is too overwhelming & he intends to put CL as second choice target , we should finish behind PSG in the CL's grouping ...............

Our secret weapon is our current bench warmers, esp Shaqiri with the help of Gini, Milner, Gomez. VVD & Allison & Kieta [ but he will be out for a few mths after that backbone issue.

If you see the first half game vs Soton, while Shaqiri does provide more midfield creativity, our midfield three loses balance in defensive aspect, When Soton got the ball, they could easily run to our final third. That why Klopp change the midfield personnel at half time to see out the game, and Klopp's post match interview he did the explain the reason.

This only works when facing some bus parking opponent.

Somehow I also have the same feeling that they will start. Whoever starts, I think Salah need to be dropped. The dilemma is if we play same formation with 3 upfront, I still think that Salah (with his dip in form) is still better or on par with other alternative.

Dont know what happen last night maybe its the pitch cause it seems everyone looked fatigued and sluggish

There one time the players were counter attacking from corner
, either robertson or TAA manage to mispass despite Mane salah and firminho were upfront against a single defender but still mispass the ball straight to the defender doh.gif

my observation since start of season.

TAA has been overall rather poor every game since the start of the season. Put Salah here for a few games. Let him drift in with the ball from the wings. He is creative enough to create something unlike TAA, still too young.

Henderson ...never been a fan of this guy. Still a headless chicken doing mostly side/back passes. Having him on the field is like playing with 1 man down. Anyone replacing him can contribute more than him.

Shaqiri deserves a start, right behind front two of Firminho + Mane. If not, just put him in the center replace Henderson.

Klopp has seen how good Sturridge is. He should develop a plan B that plays to his strength when he comes on as a sub.

Not sure why LP players are doing shitload of back passes to the GK. Reminds me of BR days and LP players always get caught. They need to stop doing this coz opposition teams are purposely pressurising LP players forcing them to do back passes and then look for the opportunity to pounce on the bad back passes.

I believe this fatigue and looked knackered due to really really less rotation?
Keep playing 90% same eleven is gonna cost us and expose the players to injuries.
Should use Shaqiri, Sturridge or Fabinho sometimes. Hell, even Keita or Lovren.
We have a squad depth much better than last season and lets utilize it.

can.not.believe.people.still.bash.hendo.for.backpasses....

Come on now, sometimes the only passing options is backwards. And it's called recycling possession, getting the ball from the right to left in the hope of getting more passing options due to opponents' players not getting in position to block passing lanes... And dont forget a number of his dinked passes to Firmino and Mane only a couple of seasons ago.

dude i can empathise your hatred towards him. Having seen him in LP from day 1 ..and seeing a guy with all the qualities needed to become a world class player, the height, the speed, the ability to play with the ball, the only guy with the most potential to be better than Stevie G himself.... ended up going a few entire season with 0 assist ... even on Stevie G's final year, Stevie G managed double assist figures while Hendo 0. This guy is the biggest wasted potential in the world and he only has himself to blame for not having the balls to go forward and beat his opponents, rather without a second thought he side passes and back passes most of the time. Opponents don't have to worry about him at all, just pressure a little, he side/backpasses. Easy to read player.

For some reasons I really wanna see him doing exactly what you expect of him, only for him to be dispossessed on the halfway line and the opponent duly scored on the counter. I would love to see what's your response at that moment.

I never think he has all the potentials to be a world beater, let alone being better than Gerrard. Still, I appreciate him as a player, as it's pointless to expect him to do what he is not built/asked to do.

Last game, I like on how Fabinho did try to push forward. Yeah some little mis-passes here and there BUT he did try to play it creatively forward.
You know, kind of passes penetrate between two players while our strikers already started sprinting.
The most stupid things to do are, the striker who is no trying to find spaces OR intelligent runnings, and midfielder WITHOUT any penetration passes.
Team like Chelsea or Atletico just need to field two BANK OF FOUR of defense lines, then we are f**ked. Creative... Be creative, especially midfielders.

U guys have been following the team as long as i have or probably longer too so you've surely seen the potential of Henderson. He was one heck of a box to box midfielder when younger. Up and down the field he had no problem running, attacking, defending, shooting, passing, crossing, lol ..like i keep saying he had all the tools to be better than Stevie G. I had so much hope for him. I can't drag my memories of his games out of my mind but at least i found an old video of his showing what he was back then. The video doesn't do justice coz i couldn't find anything before that date.

since when is hendo supposed to be the replacement for G?
hendo has always been more of a lucas / masch kinda role.
*
He is the captain, replacing Gerrard, so on the pitch we must also expect the same displays that's the norm from Gerrard!

That seems to be the root of the blind hatred. No one can ever replace another on the pitch like for like, leave alone someone iconic and legendary.

Do you know that if you watch the highlights of an average player, you can actually convince yourself that you are watching the greatest player ever?

QUOTE
Henderson ...never been a fan of this guy. Still a headless chicken doing mostly side/back passes. Having him on the field is like playing with 1 man down. Anyone replacing him can contribute more than him.

Why do you change tune from the above? Never been a fan, now you had so much hope for him? I only jump in because of "Still a headless chicken doing mostly side/back passes". And the things you said that he did that led you to believe that he could be better than Gerrard lol? He still does them, bar the offensive ones, obviously. Funnily enough, this is not a guy who is well known for his offensive game that much, he joined us because he could cross and was young. So no, he has never done anything remotely close to suggest that he could be even close to Gerrard. Not expecting a player to become another player would allow you to appreciate the said player more.

Wow, looks like I have much love for our capt lol.

I figured someone would say exactly what you just said about the video that i posted. It was coming lol but to be honest, Henderson showed a lot to suggest he had the tools to be great and the video i posted doesn't do justice at all. Well time has spoken and he turned out less than average.

I don't post often but when i saw the hate for Henderson lol i just had to post. I did post previously years ago during BR era how Henderson was a wasted talent, did 0 assist a season and how he's just a headless chicken running around doing side/back passes.
I'm just repeating it all now. Nothing new.

Klopp's pre-match press conference vs Manchester City:

Keita could be fit for Man City clash; Lallana back in full training with rest of the squad
QUOTE
“Not 100% sure yet. We have to wait a little it, he had a back spasm,” Klopp told reporters.

“He will be in if he can do something on the training pitch. We will make a decision when he has spoken to the doctor.

“It didn’t look too serious so there’s a chance, but we don’t know yet”.

QUOTE
They are all in full training.

Klopp relaxed about Salah’s recent form
QUOTE
Expectation changed that’s normal, he set a new standard. Nobody expected 10 goals after five, six, seven games. Each striker could write a book about these moments, scoring without knowing how. It’s so rare. 98% of a striker is the hardest work, 2% is the easy going stuff. The only thing which has changed is the kind of questions you have asked. It was a surprise, now it isn’t. That’s the world.

If I win games, I know everything. If I lose three in a row, I know nothing. Both are not true.

I’m relaxed about that.

Liverpool need to be 110% to beat City on Sunday
QUOTE
We have to be spot on, on our best to keep them away from our goal and create chances in front of our goal. It will be hard work, no problem with that, everybody knows it.

QUOTE
City are one of the strongest teams in world football, but they are up against a really good football team. We beat City three times last season and not once after any of those games did we go into the dressing room and think ‘now we know how to beat them’.

QUOTE
We will analyse after the press conference but Pep said they are playing better. How can I say something different? It’s not for me to compare. An outstanding side, that’s obvious, I’m not the right person to talk about anything else.

QUOTE
We need to be 100% if not 110% to beat City.

Admits Oxlade-Chamberlain is a miss
QUOTE
Oxlade-Chamberlain is not to be replaced, that is key. I cannot think about him at the moment unfortunately. We had similar situations with these little runs, in between winning the ball and being spot on. We are desperate to have him back, better sooner than later.

As much as I would like to be an Optimist , today 2 away Teams brought home full 3 points against the home team.

All the best & if we beat Citeh, 1st place is for us to keep till X'mas & beyond.

I predict a one goal margin for a Home win

in Klopp we trust

Looking at our bench, I think Klopp will change the attacking option if we are trailing or level on the 60th min by using Kieta & Shaqiri to replace Hendo & Salah

Jordan 'headless chicken who keeps passing sideways/backwards' Henderson just lob a pass forward for Salah to latch onto.

Oh, but then it wasn't an assist, bash him!

there was a time, i think 2 seasons back, where stats showed only 7% of his passes went back.
stats for last season says 80% were forward...courtesy of squawka of which they specifically mentioned that part... very likely targeted at those who dunno football... *runs and hide *

It was not a penalty in the first place, sohai refree got that wrong

We did not lose because we have a world cup finalist defender in Lovren & he is my MOTM

We are still unbeaten this season.

We will come back stronger after the international break

However our midfield and front 3 are clearly in shambles and shaq shud deserve to start or replace any of the underperform front three

It's actually the midfield... The opponents' can pretty much just focus on our front 3 since there are no midfield runners or even someone to take long shots.

We really do miss The Ox, who would have thought...

Really? Looked pretty stonewall to me. Van Dijk went for it and got none of the ball. If that had happened to us and no penalty given we would be crying out loud for injustice.

The Lovren slight kick on Aguero could easily have been a penalty too. Not that I think it is but I've seen refs give soft ones like those. Fortunately for us Aguero didn't roll around and sell it, who knows that might sway the ref's decision.

It would have not been anything (penalty or momentum towards it) if ref was alert of what happened to Sadio Mane minutes before. Straight red card that to City player.

If you noticed, refree Atkinson was inconsistent throughout the game, he actually gave most decisions to us although we do not deserved them.

I was surprised why he awarded that penalty to Citeh because it should not have been actually & yes, the penalty was not scored. Karma maybe.........how could that happened & dented Mahrez's pride of not scoring against us when he played for his current or former clubs [ did not went to the back of Allison net ]

Gini again did his part very well, holding the ball very well, relieve the pressures very well, but a few mistakes here and there.

But still without a proper number 10, we will never break off tight defence like this. Hendo and Milner is not creative enough, Keita knows how to go forward, but the creativity is not enough as well.

That's probably the easiest penalty that ref has to ever award in his career.

And it was also the most stupid decision of VvD in our colours. £75mil? What a waste of money. JK, I love that man, my eyes are totally on him when the opponents attack.

Both of our CB's had a good game, but if you consider Lovren risked conceding 2 penalties and VvD actually conceded one, I think I could suggest that there someone else who did better.

We didn't really have standout performer, but Hendo did the simple things without any fuss. Gini also deserves mention, but I found him taking too long on the ball sometimes and going round & round instead of releasing it quickly.

Thought Lovren snuffed out the attacks pretty effectively. The tackle on Jesus was a good one.

Think the midfield is still figuring out Kieta. And Kieta is still figuring out PL football.

Urgh, we have depth now but seems like Klopp is not utilizing. Maybe could have rested some players for Napoli game and started Sturridge and Shaqiri and maybe Napoli would not have been prepared for that.

The front 3 has started every game this season?

Lovren certainly wasn't bad, but he risked giving away 2 silly pens, that counted against him, for me.

To be honest I really don't like how our mid is looking this season, with or without Keita in it, there just seems to be no creativity or drive whatsoever. The only exception is probably the Soton game, where Shaq reminds us how good we can be when we have someone other than the front 3 to work something out.

Not every game IIRC. Like Bobby had to miss the PSG game and in the Carabao Cup only Mane started out of the 3. I think your point is valid, seeing that Mane was casually jogging for the last 15mins most of the time and Shaq was on the bench ready to be unleashed. Hopefully Klopp solves himself out over this 2 weeks.

If you guys noticed, during the first half Hendo either back pass or side pass but after the interval , maybe Klopp gave him a bashing he started to pump the ball upwards ..............but most of those passes does not bring any results either !! only Keita managed to dribble into Citeh's area but was also laid off by their defenders ...........

I don't think it is disrespectful to replace Sturridge and Shaq. Especially Sturridge on fine form with goals. It will be resting the rather less productive players and also tactically change the way we attack which Napoli may not be prepared for.

What's done is done and I'm sure Klopp and his guys know best.

kinda dull game from both side. both Klopp & Pep willing to toned down their tempo just to play safe & get a point. ayam disappointed. was hoping for at least 2 goals mad.gif lol.gif
We were lucky pound sterling cant do jack shit on left side. Gomez aint no RB if Sane was starting they could have easily exploit that part. mega_shok.gif

Just ranting on why Hendo is still the Captain where he play like shit , yes SAF was right that Hendo with his style of running/playing is really like a headless chicken.

Layan or no layan no issue la, I just want to rant to take the heat away from my head !!!

i don't really care about his side/back pass.. that's exactly what a holding midfielder should do. make simple pass and recycle possessions. but i don't rate hendo as a DM cos he lack the most vital trait for a DM which is ball winning.. ability to anticipate the game and make interception. he could be very useful against a team that park the bus (contain defense) but against attacking team that plays quick pressing, he could be liability... but who cares if we keep winning.

You post anything criticising Hendo on the subreddit you will get downvoted to hell. The amount of delusional people there is astounding to say the least.

Also, Klopp’s not known to be a rotational kind of manager. It’s to be expected. We definitely need to buy an attacking midfielder.

Not only subreddit. RAWK forum as well. It's blasphemy to criticize him lol.

People have different opinions and get attacked personally for it. It's getting boring sometimes.

I thought Shaqiri will be brought on around 80-85mins or so. Just to spark abit creativity from the middle but didn't happened. Maybe Klopp wants to maintain defensively until the end / risking a loss because Shaq is not so good in defending. Just observations.

Hendo is not my favourite player but I think his role as a holding midfielder isn't exactly nice on the eyes. He is probably like Jorginho to Sarri. Everyone blamed Jorginho the other game when he made over 100 passes but nothing creative came out of it but in other games, his role to make simple passes and always make himself available to recycle possessions make him valuable to Sarri. Hendo's role is probably similar in that nature except that it's overlapping with Gini / Milner which is why we should never start with these 3 in the same game!

Arsenal 29th December, City 01 January.

This is a worry- and that's the 4th game in a run where they're all 3 days apart. Wolves (A), Newcastle (H), Arsenal (H), City (A) - 4 games in 10 days..

Crazy Ridiculous schedule.

we all see the same player ...we all have different opinions of him ...

ppl will butthurt and defend him ... ppl will butthurt and condemn him ...and there are ppl who will tell you to go become Klopp's assistant lol

in the end ... only Klopp knows why he keeps choosing him over others ...

Indeed. Reason why the squad quality is important in order to challenge on the fronts.

With Milner injured, we will surely see Kita and Fabinho come in to deputise.

No such thing. Only headless chickens do that.

Every midfielder is there to attack attack, make 40 yards pass, tackle, score 25 yard goals, pin point through ball to attacker. All the licensed coaches here will not agree with you.

Only have FIFA games and Football Manager to blame. Everytime the ball is in midfielders' possession, it is expected to do some Gerrard Lampard Coutinho Messi thing.

What's worse, someone actually agreeing with what SAF said 5 years ago. Good lord.

The best part is that SAF talked about his running style would see him suffer later in the career in terms of injuries. Absolutely nothing about playing like a headless chicken.

But it was digilife, so I wouldn't want to take him too seriously.

To be frank, I really couldn't care less about your comments here...

But when someone started spewing bullshit (even in /k), I would have to correct that 'misinformation'. Maybe you should advise those who commented about 'headless chicken' to be happy and not making that type of comment which has no basis whatsoever instead. Because I have been happy, but that kinda stupid comments leave some bad taste in the mouth.

Might still be a blessing in disguise.

Now Bobby is gonna break a tooth, innit?

Luckily it's only Huddersfield (not meant to underestimate them, but they are like the worst team in the league)

That's a rather pessimistic take on things. As things stand, they are third from bottom and we from top, so let's just take things on paper for now.

Mo, Mane and VvD might all make it to the game too. There's even news that Millie is available too.

its our attack that is concerning. we've scored 2 goals in the last 4 games and none in the last 2, one of which was against mighty napoli. and these games were when we had our best 3 forwards available.

fine then take the standard "form in last 5 games" in all competitions: 5 goals counting the 3 against soton. hardly impressive when you consider the shit show at MU has managed 7 goals over the same number of games.

Point is the attack that started impressively against west ham in august and has gradually become less potent with a couple of exceptions (the games against PSG & Soton in September). Now with injuries to Salah & Mane, we're that much closer to the prospect of hoping again for solanke to sneak a goal against an obdurate defence in extra time after coming on in the 85th minute.

And if you consider that we don't need to score more than 2 goals to win in the league, then you would probably find that you are being overly concerned about non-issue (Mane and Mo are likely to be available).

Against the joint 2nd worst def in the league, I fancy us to score at least 1 and can reasonably expect to shut out the worst offense in the league.

Relax mate, worry when the ball is being kicked lar.

For the first time I am hoping we can rest some of our front 3. So far only Mane had been consistent, but he cant last 90mins, he tend to slack off toward the end.

I am hoping to see Shaqiri start.

Liverpool have one of the best squad in the Premier League. There is too much expectations on Klopp. They have spent a lot of money in his tenure. The fans are desparate for a trophy. Do you think that Liverpool will win the Premier League this season? Do they have enough firepower?

Klopp's pre-match press conference vs Huddersfield:

Naby Keita is ruled out of tomorrow’s trip to Huddersfield with the injury sustained on international duty with Guinea.
QUOTE
“We had yesterday’s session, where a few of the boys trained. We have to see how they reacted after that,” Klopp told reporters.

“The only thing that’s pretty sure is that Naby will not be available.

“With all of the rest we have to see how it develops. That’s it, pretty much.”

On VVD
QUOTE
"Football players play very often with some kind of pain. He has no problems with that (his ribs) any more."

Klopp really doesn’t like the Nations League - and says despite the idea being good, the competition should be utilised in another sport.
QUOTE
“It’s too much in that competition: ‘Proper games, real opponents, it is better than having any friendlies’,” he said.

“That’s all good but you don’t want to see Joshua fighting every second night, it’s not possible. This week he fights in Leeds, next week he fights in Manchester and no-one asked for it.

“Only in football everyone seems to be interested in now having only big competitions where you can get promoted or relegated.

“Do we want to have opera every night or every two months? I like competition, of course, but at one point someone has to step back and think ‘OK, wait, wait, wait. They are players who play’.

“If they don’t perform I am angry, so how can we make sure they perform? That’s all I wanted to say.

“The Nations League itself is a good idea—do it in another sport because in football there is no space for it.

“I realise already I could have told my coffee machine because no-one is really interested but it is still my opinion.

“We only have highlights now, ‘highlight, highlight, highlight’. Where is the rest? When can we have normal things?”

Adam Lallana is a real option for the Reds as he continues his comeback from injury.
QUOTE
“Hopefully nobody forgot how good he was before his little injury,” he added.

“Now he’s extremely close to the team, but we have to make sure how we can bring him in. He will play first-team football for Liverpool again, that’s the best news.

“When we will start, we will see. But he’s a proper option again, that’s good.”

And, finally, Fabinho is closing in on a start for Liverpool - but Klopp reckons the only reason the Brazilian has missed out so far is because others fit better into his side.
QUOTE
"He's close. I didn't see him for 10 days. Not best thing to judge how he is. But he was never far away. He just needed to get used to different things. I've had this situation before - Gundogan didn't play for half a year."

QUOTE
“Everyone asks you constantly, why doesn’t he play? There’s one reason, no other. Another player fits better in the slot.
“As long as there’s a player ahead who is fresh then it’s about the new player to close the gap. It always took time.
“When you do close the gap, go and make us better. That’s the plan.”

On Huddersfield is 100% trap
QUOTE
"Our analyst said they are much stronger than you can imagine. That's why I use the word 'trap'. They had more possession than Tottenham. There will be an outstanding atmosphere and we need to be ready."

it sucks.. especially with all that we have been through (left back issue, vvd saga, cl finals), finally we have a class of a team, and yet we still seems like one signing short (midfielder) and Man city still one class higher

Everyone seems to forget our player heavily involved with world cup last july? We lack the killer pass and composed finish at the final third but the most important part we keep grinding the result and keep 3point in the bag.

From the game I can see that he is not starting eleven material. Yes, he can be good sub, when our default tactic is not working. But to start within Klopp system, I think he is still lacking behind our regular starters. When you saw our goal which resulting from quick quality pass picked up by Gomez, followed by quick pass from Shaq, you realised that was what missing from Sturridge game play.

On Shaqiri, yup goods assist from him. But apart from that, he didn't have much influence in our play and mostly gone missing. That was his chance to present his case to be in first team, but I say he didn't prove much to convince Klopp.

Agreed, lately our Team missed those lop & quick passes from the Wingers to the 3 quick forwards to play one two one two to slot home the decisive goals. Our counter attacks was one of the best last season.

One thing this season is that we dun Robin Hood to lesser teams anymore although we almost gave Huddersfield their first win of the season........

Yes, Mane & Mino is crucial to us to press forward , & I hope to see TAA to play more although Gomez & Gini did improved while Hendo is still a headless chicken. Fabinho can improve if given more chances, same goes to Keita too.

Most of all, hope Salah can be sharper although he still can find the required twist & turns , but his touches still lags & can be read by the opponent defenders.

Everyone seems to forget we are still unbeaten. Everyone expect we roll over Huddersfield. Everyone forget that no just last season, pretty much every year, we would lose or draw to these teams.

So forgetful.
*
So are Chelsea and City bro. With City firing goals as they will and 3 in form teams just 2 points behind us. Scary. This season gonna be so close. It's just a matter which team can keep their players fit best and which one does the best business in January.

My money is on Virgil though. He reads the game like he could look into the immediate future. Lovren on the other hand is one for the highlight reel.

@Huddersfield Klopp fielded a blunt Forward trio with a substandard Midfield helm by a headless chicken & the backline was marshalled by a so called 2018 World Cup Finalist Defender named Low-graded-ven

Nah! Being on the field in the first half is enough to make us headless for the whole game! No, in fact having him on the bench is enough, see vs Red Star, not even benched and our best display of the season! What do you mean PSG put 6 past them??

most fan want to see fabinho get more playing time but klopp keeps saying fabinho is still adapting while maintaining hendo as a starter. so clearly fabinho signing is not klopp's call cos he wont spend that much on a player who doesnt fit his system.

and lets be honest, the only reason fabinho started last night is because hendo, milner and keita are unavailable... hendo is always in 1st 11 is because of seniority and his captaincy. Same thing with Robertson, only got his chance when Moreno (no matter how shit he is, he'll always started) was injured and take the opportunity to secure his spot. I hope Fabinho could do the same. at least we could see that as a DM, he could offer more to the team than our captain.

On a serious note, I think Klopp did best he could to protect Karius. Like I always say we don't know what happens behind the scene, in training and many other factors. Probably Karius has lost all confidence with all the shit media and fans threw at him.

Fabinho played his best game this morning.

The Speedy Trio got fed balls by Robbo, Shaqiri , TAA , yes keep them coming again and again.

I prefer the backline of Robbo, VVD , Gomez & TAA, because of this Alisson was so free & was playing Whatsapp & Insta from his smartfon embedded in his gloved !!!!

The midfield can be paired with Gini, Fab & Qiri

Unleash Lalaboy & Sturridge once we are 2 clear goals over our opponent.

High possibilities full 3 points every game.

Players to sell in Jan, Moreno & Headlessjiken

Not to say henderson no good but fabinho can do what henderson can (closing down opponent and tackle) but fabinho can do extra. His vision n passing under pressure is good yesterday. He got a lot of key passes yesterday that open uo attack. He totally boss the midfield.

Klopp's pre-match press conference vs Cardiff:

Jurgen refused to be moved on reports Liverpool are negotiating a new deal with Joe Gomez but praised the youngster’s progress and believes he has a ‘big future.’
QUOTE
"We don't talk about that (contracts) but he's an important member of the squad. When I came in everyone told me how good he was. He had to fight back from the injury. Now he's really fit and full of confidence."  I know what they were talking about. He has a big future.”

Both Naby Keita and Jordan Henderson are out of tomorrow’s clash with Cardiff.
QUOTE
"Will not work out for tomorrow for sure," Klopp said. "They are both in a good way but won't be ready for that.

"That's it, pretty much. The rest should be available."

Klopp praised fringe players Joel Matip, Dominic Solanke, Nathaniel Clyne, Alberto Moreno and Divock Origi for their attitude and training ethic while out of the team.
QUOTE
"Divock is a good example for players who are not too much involved in the last couple of weeks, because he is doing outstanding," he added. "It's just like it is.

"Dom Solanke is in a good moment and nobody can see it because he's not playing so that's a problem - like Clyne, like Moreno, all these guys. You can only play really good football when you train well, and you only train well when the training group is really strong.

"They are really strong, that's how it is.

"I forgot Joel Matip! He would play in 97% of each Premier League and Bundesliga club, I'm 100% sure. He wasn't even in the squad last game and he's in outstanding shape.

"It makes life comfortable but difficult, we need these players 100%, it was clear that Divock deserved to be involved. The game wasn't like we had to use him but if they continue how they've trained, they will have their moments."

The manager says he is aware of the praise Fabinho’s midweek performance garnered but believes the Brazilian can still improve.
QUOTE
"It looked good. It was a game where it made sense to do it. I heard people were quite excited about the performance of Fabinho - but he's a young fella and can still improve."

And it was revealed the entire Liverpool squad voted for Virgil van Dijk to be the team’s vice-vice captain while Gini Wijnaldum is fourth choice skipper.
QUOTE
"I decided that Hendo and Millie would stay (as captain and CV). The players voted for the next two - Virgil and then Gini."

On the improvement of set pieces
QUOTE
“we put more focus on it.”

“A lot, a lot. We did a lot on set-pieces,” he told reporters when asked if the workload has increased.

“Actually, it’s quite difficult to talk about set-pieces because you don’t want to talk about it!

“[For] the routines, there are different runs and different things.

“We did it in pre-season—and it was clear at the start of pre-season that we want to focus on it because it was not a proper strength of ours.

“That’s what we do week in and week out. It doesn’t work out all the time, but I would say it is a different approach that we choose.

“We have different runs, never the same routine, so it’s always something different. We put more focus on it.”

On Warnock & Cardiff
QUOTE
“I’m really looking forward to meeting him, maybe not in the 90 minutes.
“I heard a lot about him. He’s obviously, vocal-wise, very talented! He’s one of the most experienced managers in the world, and what he did in the past is unbelievable.”

“Cardiff deserve all our respect and they will get it.”

QUOTE
“He looks like a character, a very emotional and lively person.
“I saw the final period of the Championship last year and it was impressive how they did it. They deserved it.
“He looks like a very demanding manager, and always has my respect.”

QUOTE
"They have unbelievably long throw-ins. So difficult. It makes this game so interesting. On top of that they can play football - both wingers quick and direct."

On Front Three
QUOTE
"It makes more sense if the responsibility for scoring is on different shoulders. I was surprised how long they (Firmino and Mane) didn't score!"

QUOTE
“It’s not a bad thing to rely on one person if he’s always at 100%, but it’s good to put the responsibility for scoring on different shoulders.
“They all showed up [against Belgrade.]”

Dude, don't believe in any highlight reel. Almost anyone can be made to look like a world beater. I read something along the line of "if you wanna know how good a player is, keep your eyes on him through a match", and I agree whole heartedly.

Don't think Markovic will get a place in the first team this season after the stunt he pulled back in summer transfer window.

Plus, so many players in front of him in terms of pecking order unless there's critical injury crisis in the future, which I doubt.

Firmino is so versatile, holding the number 9 and striker role, but he did everything on the field, from defends to attacks. He often goes back to get ball and did everything he could to let Salah and Mane roam around the front.

Bobby is playing as an attacking & holding midfielder, helping out to defend yet running the ball into the striking position & this role tired him faster than normal !!!

Anyway the sub in Shaqiri gave some punch to our strikers, & from now onwards he should be made a super sub rather than a stating 11.

Gini & Fabinho played well too although the latter through pass should be sharpen.

Salah is sharper now but is still only 70% of his best.

Mane can be our top scorer with Salah soon.

Lallana was the constant in both matches against Huddersfield and Cardiff. He was often too slow and took too many touches that killed our counter attacking chances. Maybe it's just rustiness after such a lengthy layoff, but it's hard to see him getting back to his peak at his age now. If he doesn't significantly improve over the course of this season maybe it's time to sell him at the end of it.

Our attack immediately looked infinitely better as soon as Shaqiri came on to replace him. Shaqiri much like Ox offered the much needed drive and penetration we need from midfield, without of which we looked extremely toothless and lacking invention.

Oh one game it's "Shaq should be in the starting 11" and the next it's "Shaq should be super sub" when Lallana looks out of sorts.

Pls allow me to rephrase it . Hendo is the Headless chicken that like to back pass & side pass with no real attacking instinct , while Lallana is the headless chicken 2 that run around in circles with silly uncalled for touches that let the opponent to intercept him & fell him in the process !!!!

Like Klopp said, we use different starting 11 with different teams & when one of the speedy trio need to be rested we will try different players to suit the game.

Shaq played well as a super sub doesn't mean he should play as a super sub ONLY.

Like I said, go for a checkup on your knees. Different opinion after each game is definitely a symptom of kneejerk fans. I'm the resident doctor here, just like you are the resident football expert. You are welcome, I don't charge for this assessment just like you are not asked about your opinion on football here.

In my opnion, he is more suited as a super sub, same goes to the Sturridge of today too.

Whereas Ox can be a starter along with Fabinho & Gini while we can offload Hendo come Jan window.

it was quite bad in the first half... something like 85% possession and 1 shot on goal? kinda like BR teka teki era...
and some kinda talk obviously happened during half time... although klopp was also obviously never happy even tho the goals came later.

Wouldn't say it was anything particular that happened during half time. We came out of the half more or less the same as the first even when we scored our 2nd. The game changed only when Cardiff scored one. They smelled blood and they went for it, opening up space for our counter attacks. Of course, Shaqiri coming on helped massively too.

Our attack so far this season really struggles in tight spaces for whatever reason. Lots of over and underhitting passes. Sometimes we just take one touch too many just outside of the box trying to be too fancy.

well, still credit to Cardiff for playing football during the 2nd half...and not bringing their blue bus... or is it red?
but about shaqiri... that is the drawback without a proper no10... to thread n lob passes over the defensive line etc...instead of constantly running into a wall
and shaqiri obviously does that well, even tho he claims he's not familiar playing the no10 role.

while lallason, wijnaldson and fabinson still need some work...but our English scapegoat as deemed by our football experts, is forgiven as hes still on the comeback trail...and was played in a more unfamiliar position on the right wing instead of left...

How can you forget Abbas Saad.

At least Owen has played in top flight football. Although he says the dumbest thing.

“What a shot! That’s completely unstoppable, but the keeper’s got to do better for me.”

To be very frank, the discussion in this thread is much more comprehensive despite the salt and disagreement in many different things.

Some other football threads all have 1 liners like it is /k. With that, I'm very proud to say that Liverpool fans have much more substance biggrin.gif

I just hope Spurs can beat Citeh or hold them so that we can stay on top of the table..........

Spurs form currently is great in England , just their European form is a tad lower .........

Sorry, I don't know much football but I heard it is borderline illegal to backpass.
*
Backpass is the worst kinda of 'invention' in football! Makes the game ugly! Better pass to a teammate under pressure, lost possession and concede a counter-attack goal than to work up more passing angles with a backpass! Ban backpass! Sell Jordan "headless backpass chicken" Henderson!

Glad that someone who knows nothing about football knows that backpass is a blot to the beauty of football too.

Am I doing it right guys? Full with substances liao. tongue.gif

By the way guys, any comments about Klopp returning to his favoured 4-2-3-1? 2 games, 7 scored, 1 conceded (shouldn't happen in the first place). I missed both games and that happens. doh.gif

One thing that I dislike is that it means we are gonna see fewer creative goal celebration from Bobby since that he would need a more natural striker in front of him to thrive as an attacking mid. bye.gif

Turns out that Fabinho is quite special that he manages to convince Klopp to change the formation somewhat to accommodate him. But if the slot he frees up for a creative player is meant for Lallana it's really lame. I think Shaq is pushing to be in the first choice XI.

Its only red star & cardiff. lets see if it works against arsenal before making any rash conclusions. I just hope scoring against minnows gives Salah more confidence so his finishing improves.

That's why asking for comments mar. To me, it makes sense as it allows for a creative player (not you Lallana) tucked in on the right side.

Shit, no wonder legs are shaky today tongue.gif

But I think cannot be lala, not his natural position pun. This dude plays better as his nominal position is further from the opposition goal. So we should start him in goal!

If the plan is actually to accommodate Shaq then it's really good, teams are starting to figure us out. And Salah seems to really have a connection with him.

Also, not meant to credit Fab la, just that he does better in double pivot, which is why he wait for so long before his chances. This means we can sell Headless-do liao!

There's just no stopping Pep. Their attack is just as good as last season and their defence is looking even better.

Watch City, Liverpool and Chelsea all finish with 100 points but City win the league courtesy of +100 goal difference.

yup.. plus they also have 2 matches in 2 days. Alli, Eriksen and Son are rested for today's cup match with Pochettino's main priority this season is to WIN something.

The former 2 were just returning from injury lar. And Son is not first choice anymore, Lucas is. You do realize that Spurs could have climbed up to 3rd, 2 pts behind us if they won right?

Good results for us on the EFL because most top teams went through while we are taking a rest.............

Klopp was smart to throw away this Mickey cup so early cause he want the REAL cup this season real real bad.........

Let them get tired & brusied to face the BPL when the season enter the crucial stage

Klopp's pre-match press conference vs Arsenal:

Naby Keita and Jordan Henderson will miss tomorrow’s game against Arsenal and look likely to be ruled out of next week’s Champions League clash against Red Star. Mo Salah, however, is fit after a tendon in his arm became inflamed.
QUOTE
“Hendo is really good, but probably for start of next week,” the boss explained.

“Naby [will return at] the end of this week.”

QUOTE
In football, a not too serious injury means two, three, four weeks (out) and in the Premier League that means 20 games if we are lucky! We didn't have to rush it.

QUOTE
“Mo its nothing serious, inflammation of the [wrist] tendon, just for protection, it has no influence [on him playing].”

Jurgen explained the new 4-2-3-1 formation that has been utilised in recent weeks, saying every system is designed to allow his players to shine.
QUOTE
“Players shouldn't lose rhythm if you change the system a little bit,” said the Reds boss.

“It's not like we are only playing with two at the back and eight up front. It's really not that massive a difference.

“The system is there to bring the players at their best and most comfortable position, but if they stay in that position it's a boring game, they have to move.

“You need to create a formation for defending where everybody knows what to do, and then a formation offensively where everybody is in their best area on the pitch. We can do that in different ways.

“We are not that stubborn system-wise. We were never. Maybe without people seeing it, we have already played a diamond this season and nobody spoke about it. Obviously it wasn't that obvious otherwise there'd have been big stories about it!

“We try to use players in the best way and give them the position where they can shine.”

The manager explored 2016’s Europa League final defeat to Unai Emery’s Sevilla, admitting his side ran out of fuel after failing to take advantage of their first-half dominance.
QUOTE
“You're giving managers a bit too much credit if you think we have that much influence. He couldn't defend us in the first half, we had to help with that by missing our chances.

“We have to check the dressing room at Basel again about what happened in there because the game changed immediately when we came back out.

“We had a big influence on that game. It was a question of momentum, they had it we lost it, we had it in the wrong half of the game I would say, in the first half, we didn't score often enough.

“They had it in the second half and we couldn't fight back in the 63rd game of the season, there was not a lot of fuel left in the tank.

“Emery is a very, very experienced manager and all the Spanish guys are really competitive.

“I don't think he had a lot of influence in the first half and I couldn't have any influence in the second half, that was the problem of that day.

“They won, we lost, that's already history.”

Finally, Klopp also says Arsenal cannot be judged on past seasons under Arsene Wenger and is impressed with their start to the season under Emery after the Gunners lost to Manchester City and Chelsea in their first two games.
QUOTE
“They have a lot of star players. I don’t want to compare what they did last year, to be honest. It’s not my job. My job is to know what they did this year, not all the stories around it.

“Arsene Wenger is one of the best managers in the world, there’s no doubt about it. And sometimes after a long time when the mood in a club changes, it’s quite difficult to work against that. That was the situation a bit last year, people respected him a lot but on the other side they thought ‘now we should change something’.

“A change is only good if it is for the better. Unai Emery, all people in football knew how good he is, but I am not sure all Arsenal fans were over the moon at first when they heard it would be Emery. But that’s England a little bit, you want the poster boys. Unai was in France and before that in Spain in a smaller club, so you can go a bit under the radar.

“Not for all the people in football, though. I saw yesterday that he won eight titles in two or three years. That’s pretty big. It was clear that things will change, and the players know now.
