The higher the offset number, more ke dalam your tyre/rim will be...
The lower the offset number, more ke luar your tyre/rim will be... Like your case, the tyre width increased by 2 cm...which is a lot... Last resort, if you dont want to change rim is to go to body shop to make wide body la kot... cheers...
