480p videos on my 6" phone does not look pixelized at all, it looks quite good and detailed. 240p on the phone is blurry. Maybe you need to buffer your video-stream, ie wait about 10 seconds before pressing the Play button. Cheap phone plans can come with a bit of inconvenience.

Seems, the problem bottle-neck in video-rendering on high-end phones lies in their not-needed or wasteful high resolution displays of more than 1080p/UHD which over-tax the batteries and processors.

I think ur understanding is not correct at all.

Those articles u post are talking about whether higher resolution is needed on a phone.

unless u have a phone that can change resolution like Samsung flagship phone. Else it does not save battery.

For example, ur phone is 1080p, even u run a 1080p or 480p video the resolution of the phone still stays at 1080p. The 480p will just be ‘upscaled’ to fix the screen. So it does not have the battery saving as what u claimed.

unlimited video-onz capped to 1.5mbps. should be good for up-to 720p video. dont like it then dont use u-mobile.

Because 480p is more than good enough for a 6" phone, which is what GX30/50 is for. 1080p is only needed for large screen TV up to 55" and computer monitors of about 21".

This discussion about video resolution given by UMobile "unlimited" GX30/50 plan and phone's display resolution is related to this UMobile topic since you are complaining about UMobile limiting video-streaming to SD/480p/1Mbps. Users who understand this issue can see that UMobile is fair since GX30/50 is an affordable or cheap 4G phone plan for "unlimited" data.

Expecting UMobile to give 1080p video-streaming for RM30/50 per month is unfair.

In comparison, TM Unifi Mobile has only 4G network, ie no 3G. For 3G, Unifi Mobile roams on Celcom's 3G = TM has to pay Celcom. Unifi Mobile can also roam on Celcom's 4G network = TM has to pay Celcom. So, unlimited data for Unifi Mobile is only for its own 4G network, not on Celcom's 3G or 4G.
....... Only Unifi Mobile limited data phone plans can roam on Celcom's 3G/4G network when not covered by its own 4G network. Afaik, TM Unifi Mobile 4G coverage is quite poor.

Normal 3G download speed is 5Mbps and normal 4G speed is 30Mbps. Recently, Digi and Maxis have upgraded to 4G LTE-Advance = normal speed is 130Mbps.

It is doubtful that TM Unifi Mobile would allow RM59 plan subscribers to use unlimited data on Celcom's 3G/H+ network, eg use 500GB per month. I think u mean 3000kbps = 3Mbps? I dun think 300kbps can stream even 480p.

If 4Mbps will be sweet spot, 720p (auto) no issue and again 1080p (manual) is ok also.

I think you can only stream Youtube at 720p if you can get 4G LTE Band 38/40 on Unifi Mobile, which is not easy depending on coverage. .......

UMobile GX50 no-contract = RM50 per month vs Unifi Mobile RM99 per month 12-months-contract(= RM59 is promo only).
....... Of course, GX50/RM50 comes with less benefits than RM99. Furthermore, TM has advantages/tongkat as a GLC.

Fyi, with the latest promo from UMobile, I am paying only RM40 per month for 6 months for GX50.

I'll wait until TM Unifi Mobile make the RM59 promo permanent with no-contract and its 4G coverage improves by at least 100%. Then only I may consider since the 10GB hotspot can suddenly go missing and international roaming charges are much more expensive.

Yeah bro, I felt u becos I did the exactly the same thing as u, I bought a new starter pack and I did the MNP. The number is not my main number though, just a quite nice number I got from yoodo. And I also spent rm30 extra on the GX30. Totally wasted of money. Day 1 I already vomited blood.

It has good network indeed at certain places like opened air etc. but it is totally inconsistent experience which most of the time cmi.

Yes, huge different between the open areas and in a building (like house).

Most of oppo and vivo phones just have 4G band 1, 3, 5, 7, 8, 38, 40 and 41 only.

If you are using U Mobile or Yes 4G, you can have good signal in the open area. But once you entering a building, the signal becomes bad, cannot surfing internet and even go to 3G.

Since LG is not official launch in Malaysia, although it has 4G band 1, 3, 5, 7, 8, 20, 28, 38, 39, 40 and 41 (according to LG V30+ Hong Kong version), I don't know whether U Mobile can suit or not with the phone.

Endless possibilities...
