Samsung SC always erase all data and update to the latest version after repair/replacement before they conduct testing.
While Samsung calls it extended warranty, battery and screen are only covered within 1st year of purchase.
Samsung warranty policy is very confusing and strange. Does it apply only to Samsung or other android brands too?
*
its suppose to be that way. If clear all data and update still have problem means its samsung problem.

If they dont do that we never know what you did previously causing it to slow down.

I notice after the last update my phone become slower now and laggy. That why i hate updating my phones

i see. how the auto brightness will cause screen burnt in? i tot burn in only happen when u are keep leaving the screen turn on with a constant display?

I am a bit lucky, as the owner told me the phone i bought has no more warranty. Then one day the screen failed me by having random touch and unresponsive touch. I try luck by going to service centre to check for warranty. They told me the warranty is under september 2019  rclxm9.gif  rclxm9.gif

yes auto brightness if it detect not enough light it will auto max it. Imagine using waze or gps it stay there for longer. Eventually it will become? or in normal condition you are browsing or watching video and it auto set at 80 to 100% longer than usual

From my experience usually is update then format but since not apps are preinstalled then better format then update.

dont think clean install is a must. However, if one has free time to do it why not? I usually didnt wipe it when performing major upgrade. So far no issue encountered. Just pay attention to google play store and galaxy store to update the apps to latest version will do. Android is no longer like the early days where a clean installation is always a must to reduce issue occur.
*
Its not a must but imagine all your old files and new files of nougat + pie + other unused system files stored in your phones + apps conflict and Phone tend to slow down after years of using.

Its like updating windows version same concept if you understand how the file system works you will understand what i mean.
