Unless your S3 IS can take one shot with multiple EV recordings, I suggest you use a tripod. Even the slightest movement will make your life difficult when trying to overlay three or more separate shots together. Ever seen the newspaper with photos that are out of registration, i.e. the 4 color layers not in sync? It's the same concept with multiple exposures, any slight difference and the end photo will seem slightly blur due to hand shake.
Trust me, a tripod is your best bet. I can shoot 8.5fps on my Mark IIN and still cannot say that every shot is exactly the same. Cheers. QUOTE(vkeong @ Jun 2 2007, 01:07 AM) |

its a HDR made using photoshop and photomatix post processing. Its a rather cool technique, but most of the "pros" claimed that it's not real photography. But who cares if u can take and make nice pictures from it? man, i need to go around and make more HDR too haha..
If u think its fake and unreal u can always use an ND Grad Filter to even out the sky and ground exposure. btw, here's a good page on HDR: http://www.stuckincustoms.com <--- he has a tutorial too. Search it out. |

Thanks guys for the input
As Radical mentioned, I too feel this type of photos are a bit unrealistic.. doesn't seem what the naked human eye would see.. but they are nice.. that's undeniable |

Nothing fake about it, and HDR is NOT fake. You can pay more to get a fuji S5 pro for its wide dynamic range sensor, or you can use HDR technique to acheive a wider dynamic range. The only difference being HDR with ordinary dslr can only be done perfectly on a virtually still subject (correct me if I'm wrong) but HDR using S5 pro only requires 1 shot.

HDR is beautiful especially when coupled with scenery shots & for use for Indoor architecture/deco photography. But need to get a tripod first...
This guy below has a good collection of HDR images http://www.flickr.com/photos/valpopando/se...57594327558179/ makes me want to go HDR all the way... |

oh btw, I believe you can actually just shoot 1 Raw picture, and create a few different exposure pictures by adjusting the RAW exposure...it is typically the same as shooting 3 pictures with a tripod

I believe he got all of it from one shot. Having blown white clouds is alright, to make it look more believeable than a technically correct HDR image.
There are other ways to lower localized contrast. A circular polarizer works to darken skies. A red filter works, too, in black-and-white. Dodging and burning, or Hue-Saturation-Lightness tweaking, works too. |

I think to truely demonstrate awesome HDR, the picture has to have very dramatic clouds/sky and very colorful subject...or reflection.
The first picture's cloud looks very kau...I can't even tell if it's real or fake and it seems like wide angle is the way to go for HDR |

looks great...I like chicks who like photography...especially those who carry a freaking long telephoto
I'm contemplating picking up the tokina 12-24 f/4....but I really love telephoto much more than wide angle despite HDR...probably gonna pick the lens up only when there's some sort of discount. |
