hey dude...

if u hav opportunity 2 go 5 ASEAN scholarship, dont waste your time in matrix! common sense..but only if u can get it..
sitting for a test will hav no harm for u

ASEAN scholarship has no bond...u can go anywhere u wan after that..u can choose 2 continue in sg or go anywhere u wan..no bond no string attached..

but if u get JPA or PETRONAS...there are other things 2 consider..
JPA and PETRONAS get u all the way to overseas uni
but ASEAN..will c how good u are and depends whether u can get a scholarship for uni after that....
of course..the price is the bond...PETRONAS bond is the longest..2 years for every year of sponsorship

It's a selection test ler... i think they will only consider your acceptance AFTER they see your test results....

YOU DEFINITELY HAVE TO GO FOR THE TEST! ASEAN SCHOLARSHIP man... Must try... not any tom, d*** and harry get call up for the test... it means your good! try... rclxms.gif

If things don't go the way u wanted it to be... then continue with matriks kedah... smile.gif

All the best!

I also wonder what's next laa after pre- uni for this scholarship.... Does anyone know?

If you can pass the selection test, go for ASEAN scholarship. No point wasting time in matric whereas ASEAN scholarship is a pass for you to go anywhere.

Matrix

1) You're almost guaranteed a place in local U. Local U tuition fee is very very cheap, especially for medic and dental courses.
2) Exams are semester-based, and exam marks will include project work, so less burden compared to S'pore A-levels.
3) You cannot go overseas (some Uni accept Malaysian Matrix though). forget abt NUS, NTU, Hong Kong U, Cambridge, Oxford... You can go American Uni if you sit for SAT or/and TOEFL. However, there're always local pricate colleges accept Matrix, if you cannot get into your preferred courses in local U.

S'pore A-levels
1) You will get a quality education, Thus, it will be much more stressful compared to Matrix.
2) You're not guaranteed a place in NTU/NUS/SMU. Even if you get it, you are not guaranted of a scholarship. Tuition fees are quite high, abt RM 60K for most of the courses.
3) You'll get a higher salary upon graduation in S'pore. AVERAGE Starting salary abt S'pore$ 2700, compared to RM 1800 in Malaysia.

If you're prepared to work hard for the next 10 years, ASEAN Scholarship would certaionly be a BRILLIANT opprtunity for you.

Actually, if you go for Matriks and study hard and fraduate from UM, with some work experience, it is possible for you to find a job in Singapore. Asean scholarship is not really the best of the scholarships. You don't really get much of a headstart to a life in Singapore either. My friend is a very intelligent girl and she came back coz she couldn't handle the stress after a few months of studying in Singapore. You will be among all the Asean scholars and they are all very talented in many area and this may affect you psychologically. Beside that you'll have to actively participat ein coco and coco there is not like coco here. There is is really active and you may be back in your dorm by 6pm only.

You are not gurtantee any place in any SG Uni and your do not necessarily stand any higer chance of getting into one. Even if you do and qualify for the education grant)also know as asean scholarship for tertiary edu), you still will have to fork out a huge sum as the grant is only partial and you still have to work in SG for three years after that. And that is no job gurantee, you must find a job like any other singaporeans.

Yup...it will be really stressful when studying in singapore for their a-level...among all the kiasu people...but you might beat them in bm paper...haha...just go ahead and try the test...no doubt, comparing between asean and matric...asean's standard is higher and harder to get...and no bond after that compared to other scholarships

Also another note : Matriculation is wayyyyyyy easier than education in Sg. I know of a several seniors who scored a 4.0 flat GPA in matriks
