Hi All, I am currently considering between two ultrabooks, the Asus UX331UN and the MSI PS42 (Due to having MX150)
Is there any user that owns these laptops? May I know which one is the better choice?

1. Budget : Around 4k
2. Usage : Mostly work, but ability to play light games would be a huge bonus (Dedicated Nvidia MX150 is preferred, but open to other suggestions as well)
3. Preferred display size: 13 inch or 14 inch
4. Max Weight in KG: Not more than 1.5kg (2kg or lower is also acceptable)
5. Battery life: Around 7-8 hours (The longer the better)
*
Asus UX430U-NGV176T
HP Envy 13-ah0041tx

If you don't mind low sRGB display:
Acer Swift 3 SF314-54G (25W MX150)
Lenovo Thinkpad A485 with R5/R7 APU and dual channel RAM

UX331UN is decent, will not recommend PS42 despite 25W MX150 due to many cons

Max 2kg probably. Preferrably lesser, she uses a 15.6 inch now so she's quite comfortable with that currently. Thanks for replying!

HP Spectre x360 13? idk, any Ultrabook with good display is 'good enough' for me (eg Acer Spin 5 13), not really into higher end category

Hi Sifu, planedn to buy laptop for my sister TONITE!!. She's not a gamer nor heavy user. Just a normal girl using Ms words, Excel, Powerpoint, FBing, surfing and Utube. Her budget is RM2k. So I guess, a decent and average kind/model will do.

I checked with my IT friend he recommended me a list as follows:
1. Dell 15 (i3/4GB/500GB) = RM 1850
2. Dell 3480 (i3/4GB/500GB) = RM 2140
3. Dell 14 (i3/4GB/500GB) = RM 1800
4. Lenovo Ideapad (N4000/4GB/500GB) = RM 1300
5. Asus (R3/$GB/1TB) = RM 1950

i copy exactly what he type to me. Not sure the model number or the processor are right. also, please recommend me which one is the best and robust and suitable. will be going Digital Mall PJ after work.

Thanks in advance! notworthy.gif notworthy.gif

What exact model are they

TBH, 2k won't get you a decent new laptop. Might want to go used laptops with 1 yr warranty

Agree with ZM Fong, you might want to aim for RM2.1K - RM2.3K to get a decent laptop with i5.

May i ask which one of the shop and store would everyone recommended for me to buy the new laptop with good deal, more trusted and more safety than other one in lowyat?

because there have many kind of laptop store and shop and make me confuse a lot even the Bangladesh or foreign people are available to sold the new laptop in lowyat.

if i randomly to pick one shop or store to buy the new laptop, definitely i got scam by scammer.

i hopefully can buy the new laptop with good deal and avoid the scam

Guys, looking to replace my 7-year old desktop with a laptop since my desktop is dying on me.

Budget - around 3k
Usage - office work, with a lot of gaming (dota, PUBG, Skyrim, etc)

With my desktop, I’m running dual 24’ monitor with 1x 27’ monitor, planning to maybe sell off the dual 24’ and use the 27’ for my main screen, or just sell all 3 and get a bigger screen, so preferably maybe a 14’ laptop.

HDD + SSD is a must, got data to store in my HDD, or if no HDD would need at least 240gb SSD as I can recycle storage from my desktop.

Battery life not that important as don’t think will use the battery much, but durability should be good, and preferably laptop with easy back panel access in case I want to upgrade the ram/HDD.
