noticed if i plug DWA182 into USB2.0, it can get around 240Mbps
if plug into USB3.0 it can get above 270Mbps and sometimes 300Mbps..

Do USB interface affects the speeds?

like i mentioned above, if i get Archer T6E, how much it can get @ DIR842 Router?
*
DWA182 is AC1200 so max 300Mbps. USB 3.0 real-life speed can easily support gigabit spped.

T6E is AC1300 so not much improvement over DWA182.

You'll need at least AC1900 USB adapter for 400-500Mbps eg DWA192 or TP-Link T9UH.

The secret weapon is the RT-AC5300. I hid the RT-68U previously to be not visible, I display that spider behemoth proudly for all to see. End result is the speeds I get while previously I can’t even get 300Mbps with the router skulking in hiding. Lesson learned. Centralize and display your router. Be proud of it. Also helps if you’re router’s transmission rate overpowers everyone else around the neighborhood. Even when competing for bandwidth on the same channel, using the WiFi Analyzer app, the signal the AC5300 broadcasts come out on top. The 68U would’ve been smothered by the two neighbors signals left and right. To get even better result, relocate to a vacant channel, but that may not be an option for certain devices as they can’t see or connect to the wireless signal beyond certain channels.

Yes, centralised router, especially high-end one, will give great result. Another way (like mine) is multiple APs, 1 for each floor. Currently connected via Powerline, but I'm converting my phone lines to Gigabit lines.

I have TP-Link C1200 and it's stable.

Anyone here using D-Link DIR-850L and experience occasional lag in HyppTV (video only, audio is fine, only some channels)?

Upgraded to 500mbps last month. Decided for only modest Wifi upgrade since: 1. Budget constraint now 2. No device at home can exceed 200mbps.

What I did:

1. I'm lucky my home phone lines actually use CAT5E cables.
2. Bought 2 RJ45 face plates, a wire stripper & 5-meters CAT5E cable.
3. Convert phone jacks at upstair family area & master bedroom to CAT5E cables. I simply connect the wires using electrical tape.
2. Bought 2 second-hand D-Link DIR-850L.
2. Configured both D-Links as wired APs at upstair family area & master bedroom.
3. Put my existing TP-Link C1200 into store room. The store room hosts the BTU & LAN wiring.

Results: 200mbps at master bedroom & upstair living area, 150mbps at other bedrooms, 150mbps at living hall, and 80mbps at guest room. Total cost: RM 192.

Now I got stable & decent Wifi speed all around the house. If I need 500mbps, I can use LAN cable at 3 locations.

can anyone here show some photos of your networking setup after upgrading your hardware for the turbo upgrade.

just want to have a reference on how to manage a clean networking setup .

btw,  my btu and router are at living room.  might reposition my router soon.

My not-so-clean setup:

Store room. BTU to TP-Link SG108E, then to TP-Link C1200. There's an unused laptop that will be used for traffic monitoring. 3 LAN cables leading to living room, upstair family room & master bedroom.

Powerline from store room to HyppTV STB. LAN point from store room.

Hi Guys,

just read some writing on the net on the 100mbps/Gbps auto features and the writer advised to connect only Gbps devices to Gbps router and get a Gbps switch to handle all other 100mbps devices, I did it with RT-AC86U and only connect Gbps devices to the router and let the Gbps switch handle the 100mbps devices and found out that the network throughput better and the memory utilization improved, previously constantly hit 95% but now only 75-80% memory utilization, the writer did mentioned if we connect 100mbps devices to Gbps port, the router need some resources to handle to downward conversion from Gbps to 100Mbps which is buffering, any Sifu has different view on this?

Should be fine most of the time. I mix my devices with no problem.

Have you updated your Intel Wifi driver? And have you checked your settings like below?

https://www.intel.sg/content/www/xa/en/supp...networking.html

If all else fails, then our NUC probably has smaller antennas, and you need to use USB Wifi adapter.

Bcoz Intel 8265 on laptops should be able to get 400-500 mbps on your Asus. Even my former HP laptop using Intel 8265 can reach 220 mbps on TP-Link C1200.

Hi Guys,
Can we configure a limit to each device connected to the wifi on Unifi network ?
I plan to take the RM79 package which has a 60GB quota but i want to know if i can configure a limit to the device that connected ?

I believe you can with routers that support DD-WRT or Tomato firmware. Not sure about AsusWRT.
