I think the dlink 842 is a crappy router... Got it changed recently when I had a bad internet connection... Previously, I had the tp link c1200..
In terms of range and signal strength, the tp link is tops.. Although I had dropped signals with the tp link every 2 or 3 days, the dlink is giving me 2 to 3 dropped wifi signals every hour or two..
Had sent in a request to change back

What's the best practice with regards to running one or both bandwidths on the router?
All my devices could connect to 5ghz and reception is great to usable throughout the house? Do you still switch on 2.4ghz or prefer to reduce the router load by just running 5ghz
I'm only switching on 5ghz at the moment
Add: the tp link AC1200 is definitely much better than the dlink 842 in every aspects.. Stability, range and interface.... According to tm technican, their stocks are now dlink 842.. They acknowledged that its a much better standard unifi router

Finally had my fiber upgraded from 30mbps to 100mbps after 10 days upon application at tmpoint... Some got theirs immediately while some like mine had to wait.. My issue was for the installer to make some updates and tweaks on the btu and router before calling unifi to update the speed
Solid 100mbps connection on tp link archer c1200 in most parts of the house dropping to about 50mbps on upper level... Acceptable and happy

QUOTE(Ben Ling @ Oct 1 2018, 03:48 PM) Guys I want to ask that is the DIR-842 provided by TM is better than Archer C1200 ? Because I'm going to change to 129 100Mbps, since new contract again then going to request new router modem etc And I have Huawei HG8240W ONU, is it an old model ? Should I request to change too ? Thanks ! Get the c1200.. The dir 842 is crappy af.... I used to have the AC1200 on 30mbps.. When I upgraded to 100mbps, I told them I wanted a change of router... They gave me dir 842...worst decision ever.. The signal was dropping 2 or 3 times every hour or two and the signal strength was poor further away from it.. I complained again and wanted the C1200 back... Technician came and said TM is no longer supplying c1200 but he has a relatively new one which he could exchange for me... Took the offer and it's been very stable.. Ironically, the ssid is not locked to @unifi on the router
