FYI, I just changed my VIP50 to the new RM129 100MB package, and I thought I'd share what I've learned so far.
1. I was told that I would need to create a new Unifi account and delete the old one (apparently, this was told to a lot of people as well). This is not true. In fact, TM prefers that you keep the old account and just change your plan.
However, the problem is that TMPoint Ampang Pt, which used to be an official TM outlet, was recently changed to a dealership. However, as a normal person, I didn't see anything that made me think that outlet wasn't official, so I assumed everything the CS rep was saying was true. Dealerships are focused on sales, so they will push you to open a new account. In fact, the person I dealt with didn't even mention that I was able to keep my old account, other than to ask whether I wanted to keep my old phone number.
2. If you are dealing with a dealership, you will need to go to an official TMpoint outlet to terminate your old Unifi account. If I had known this earlier, I would have skipped one step and gone straight to an official outlet - in my case, I had to go to TMpoint Setapak / Titiwangsa.
3. I was told by TMpoint Setapak staff that if you change your plan vs new account, you are still bound by the new 2-yr contract, and that they will upgrade the equipment as well. Just that you'll get to keep your login id and phone number, if that's important to you.
So far, real-world usage, there's not much difference in day to day browsing. You'll feel the speed more if you are downloading or torrenting. But I'm just glad to spend RM40/month less after years of getting my blood sucked dry by TM.
So do you mean that we can terminate our old account and register for the new account to get the new equipment?
