my speed is 100Mbps, speed test can get 105Mbps.

However when use YTD Youtube downloader to download youtube video, speed is less then 100kbps.

why like that?

QUOTE(cho @ Sep 20 2018, 10:54 PM)
They told me like that too.  Then I asked her to change my plan to 30mbps basic (RM79) since if got turbo next year, let say June 2019, I only enjoy 300mbps at RM139 only for few months.

Then she said the 30mbps basic got quota which then i showed her the printed FAQ from TM website stating the quota will only be imposed next year too.

After that, she went to see her boss, and offer me the turbo upgrade withing this 2 weeks.

i refused the offer and still want to proceed with the RM79 30mbps mentioning to her that RM139 is not perpetual and only 24 months.

Then she said the discount will be perpetual once turboed..
Yes, if you upgrade  e.g 30mbps advance to 100mbps lite, you already have standard pack (aneka , etc) with you + stb. topup another RM30, will give you ultimate pack.

Differ from new user, they need to topup RM30 just to watch unifitv through STB, and another RM30 for ultimate.
*
Last line is wrong.. New user, just add 30 to add STB + utlimate page.. Total 159.. Not 129 + 30 (ultimate) + 30 STB.

i have old 30mbps plan with RM199. Current price for 100mbps only RM129. Any way to reduce the price without signing up another contract?
*
Contract will always renew. But 30Mbps for 199.. That's too much.. Before they come out with 129 for 100Mbps, there is RM139/30Mbps. Maybe can request for that package. I also downgrade from RM179/50Mbps to that's package on Aug. Now already enjoyed 300mbps turbo.

Where's that insider guy.. can at least let us know if the 50mbps rm99 will be out this year or next year..
Btw, is it true that after we get turbo, we cannot downgrade to rm129 100mbps anymore?
*
Few people already downgrade it.

Im currently using unifi turbo300Mbps@RM 139. Say if i still want to upgrade to turbo 500Mbps is it possible? and what is the price change?
*
Don't thinks is possible now. Need to wait until got official package for 500Mbps.. Usually TM will have promo with RM10-20 for the next speed.

FYI,

Due to my high rise building cannot support more than 30mbps, I am not allowed to take RM129 100mbps package. So TMPoint offered me RM119 30mbps unlimited quota package.

Renew to 2 year contract and without any penalty charged. Switched while within 2 years contract.
*
Too high for 30mbps, since maxis only 89.

thanks haha...

btw...should I wait till 1st Oct for TM announcement on current 100Mbps plan or should I just go ahead and downgrade to rm129 plan ?
currently paying rm189...and no sign of discount or turbo at all
*
If 100Mbps enough than go ahead.. I believe in future TM will offer to upgrade to next speed. Also if you lucky, while waiting for plan to be change, you might be turboed.

Hi Guys,

i've a strange encounter with OOKLA speedtest and TM Speedtest (also provided by OOKLA). On the standard speedtest, i get around 500mbps on LAN (with wifi off and only 1 pc connected). on TM Speedtest, i get 800++mbps. Im confused. Which is the reliable speedtest platform ?

http://speedtest.tm.com.my/tmspeedtest.html
http://www.speedtest.net/

my setup:
TENDA AC-18 & ASUS RT-AC1200G+
PC with GBE network card (on FULL DUPLEX 1Gbps)
CAT6 cables
*
You test against the server provided by 3rd party. Mostly this server connected to 1Gbps or less. Before this, with max speed 100Mbps most of the server can handle. But with current package up to 800Mbps, only 2 concurrent test with saturate the line. Rules of thumb, take the max speed you get. That's you max speed.

Sorry I hardly understand what you trying to say.. What's is your current package now and how much you pay?

What you want to do? Get a turbo speed? Reduce monthly fee?

I am trying to say I am paying 199 FOR 30 MBPS which I feel unfair because other users paying the same price for 50 and 100, therefore I am asking them to review the pricing and let me get 500 Mbps turbo or 800 Mbps
*
I see... It's quite hard to request something that's they not offered already + you also giving a choice like that. My suggestion, push for 1 thing like..

- Request for RM139 for 30 Mbps (to be turbo to 300) -> they offered this package just before 129/100Mbps.

- Upgrade to 100Mbps (to be turbo to 800) with current monthly.. Maybe can try asking for RM189 since maybe people paying this for RYE promo last time.

Another advice, if you can go to TMPoint Cyberjaya.. They have form titled 'Customer Retention Program', where you can request xx monthly fee for each old package 30/50/100. XX is after discussion with their staff.

1 think confirm can get is RM129/100Mbps with contract refresh.

MY own experience.

- Downgrade to 30Mbps from 50Mbps (RM179 to 139) at TMPoint Kajang. This done it after few hours. This is when they offer RM139 for 30Mbps.
- 1 month later, try to apply for RM129/100Mbps. TMP Kajang, unwilling to do it. Saying many excuses.. Go to Cyberjaya, they give a form and process my application. Thumb print everything. After 3-4 days still not getting new speed (long holiday last time). On last day got Turboed to 300Mbps. My last package. Next working day go again to Cyberjaya to cancel the RM129. Now maintain RM139/300Mbps.

I vote for Yes. Haha, not a TM staff. But no problem with the services, maybe a bit the pricing la... Start using from 1st year till now.. But service wise consider ok for me.

Most lower price package is because of misconfigured. Like put wrong discount or remove hypptv. Not official promo.

QUOTE(TSD Tech & ITS @ Sep 30 2018, 03:40 PM)
I want to subscribe to Unifi, all the agents and even their website shows that my area is available for Unifi. when I try to register online through unifi.com.my, my address did not show up in the system, all of my neighbors houses is in the system. When I call TM, they said I have to go to TM Point myself. WHen I went to TM point, at first the employee there said that my house is to far away from their port, then they show me their service map, I noticed, there is  a house which is further than my house which have unifi. When I call their lies, they then changed their answer to there is no infrastructure available at our area. The port is full. But I know for sure, there are only a few people that subscribe unifi or even have streamyx at their house.

I've been trying to follow up this issue through several channel of TM/Unifi, Facebook Messenger, TM live Chat and even call. I've been ignored through Facebook Messenger and their TM Live chat and still waiting on customer service

Any advice for me to proceed with this issue.

Go to nearby DP point and count how many wire coming out from them.. Check nearby DP also. Try to confirm with TMPoint based on DP number.

why fast.com give higher reading than speedtest.net? hmm.gif  hmm.gif  hmm.gif
*
Just take whatever higher as maximun capped speed for ur line. Those server at speedtest.net own by 3rd party. We don't know what is the uplink speed. While is almost 1Gps for country like singapore.. In Malaysia its probably not. Except for ISP server. Last time max speed is 100Mbps so no problem to cover it. Now its 800Mbps.. 2 person doing speedtest will saturate server uplink. Fast.com in the other hand is own by Netflix which 1 of the top bandwidth user in the worlds.

Just like when you download, most of the time Microsoft/apple/google will able to fulfil you full speed. Normal server mostly will not.

151288Kbps, or 151Mbps. I used my Shield TV Pro in 4K resolution, streaming YouTube 4K video, playback in statistic mode.

Thats your connection speed.. Minimun I would said around 20mbps. Netflix 4k is 16Mbps.

Not likely. The Shield TV Pro is wired, at 800Down/200Up. For THAT video, YouTube is asking for 151Mbps. For your Netflix, with heavy compression and artifacting(checkerblocking) and content distribution hardwired with your ISP (less nodes to jump around with), you can get get away with 16Mbps. Check Techquickie on how Netflix content distribution works. YouTube has no such collaboration with local ISP here like Netflix.

Of course, if you upload a poorly encoded 4K video with lower bitrate, sure you can get away with lower 4K streaming requirement. After all, you can already get movies in 1080p encoded to be "good enough for consumption" clocking at 600-700MB size only, compared to their uncompressed, unmolested Blu-ray source at 40-50GB size. Guess which route Netflix took to get away with lower 4K streaming requirement?

Wired 800 doesn't means it's will used 800. 151 is not asking, it's using.. To fill the buffer. Put link here where you find the most demanding bw.. Will test it.
