I'm having some issue with my turbo-ed 800mb. I had gotten myself an Asus AC1900/RT AC68U router and also had change my lan cable to cat6. Despite how also i am only getting 2xx-3xx MB speed only.Anyone can give some advice on it ? Thanks

Just sorted out the problem myself. You have turn off QoS, turn off Traffic Analyzer, and then turn ON NAT Acceleration. Reboot. You should get 840Mbps download and 215 upload.

However, if after some time, the download revert back to 2xx-3xxMbps, you will need to Apply the NAT Acceleration one more time. This time it should be more permanent.

Don't ask me why but it works for me after whole week troubleshooting.

NAT acceleration relationship with QOS, Traffic analyzer, URL filter, keyword filter should be common knowledge by now. I mean...one of us repeat it at least once every day....... blink.gif

Yea, but the part where it reverts back to 2xx-3xxMbps despite all the correct settings has me stumped for a week.

Until today where I just click on Apply again for NAT Acceleration, the setting at last stuck. Dunno why.

[Edit] Also on the 1st page under general guidelines, it is stated that Asus RT-AC68U supports up to 500Mbps ... well, now we know it can support 800Mbps

Hi bro. I'm using Asus AC68U too and managed 840Mbps DL and 210Mbps UL using Speedtest. Just follow John Lai's guide and you're in good hands.

BTW, are you still doing LCD TV calibrations? May hit you up again in case I need my old plasma re-tuned after so many years haha.

I had a fun time trying to troubleshoot the low speeds with the Alienware 15 R1.

Followed John's notes and renamed mcupdate and reboot. Speeds in speedtest app was similar ~ 660 -720Mbps. Speeds in Edge browser, higher ~ 740-750Mbps. Chrome browser was similar to speedtest app. This was even with McAfee virus scan and firewalls turned off and the browser extensions all turned off. On the Asus router,AI Protection was also off (QoS as well). So nothing I did allowed me to get the speeds up to 800Mbps on the Alienware.

Moved to testing with the Macbook Air 13 (2014) using thuderbolt to gigabit adapter. This was a laptop that was on Windows 7 (Bootcamp). Similar speeds seen. Moved to booting with MacOS and tested with app on Mac OS X --- boom 820Mbps, 210Mbps UL.

So definitely something about windows config in my setups that is limiting. Will spend some time in the weekend figuring this out.

BTW, did check my microcode and since its a Haswell chip, it did indeed show x024. Oddly, Dell did carry out a BIOS update in February that shd hv fixed the Spectre thingy at least from the BIOS portion but looks like the Windows update has not caught up.
I'm using a 5 year old i5 Sandy Bridge desktop PC biggrin.gif

Anyway, long story short, TM did actually get the speeds right, while I don't really see the benefits as typical speedtests to US or European servers seem muted to 230 -300Mbps anyway, I'm not sure how much the 800Mbps is actually helping.
Agreed. Unless you have more than a few family members concurrently streaming with their devices, or play with seed boxes, can't see how to use 800Mbps effectively. Thinking really hard to downgrade to 100Mbps and save some money instead.

BTW, my bill is still RM299...so probably another visit to TM Point or chats likely in a few months..

Mine is RM199+RM40 (Ruby plus but never used before. STB just gathering dust)

Good luck with TM and your Alienware/Windows problem

i am using RT-AC68U, latest firmware

when i NAT Acceleration CTF (Cut Through Forwarding) is enabled i can get max speed 500Mbps for my UniFi 500Mbps package

when i disabled it, i only can get 300Mbps

the problem is when i enabled, after few days, my speed test might drop and drop until 20-30Mbps... if disabled, i can consistently getting 300Mbps forever when running speed test (somehow unable to achieve 500Mbps)

any sifues here can helps? if i leave it disabled, my speed test only close to 300Mbps unable to reach 500Mbps
if i leave if enabled, day by day the router speed seems dropping and have to restart

Just sharing my experience. Have you also disabled apps analysis, QoS, AiProtection?

I could hit 800+Mbps initially after applying NAT acceleration but then it will slow down to 260-300Mbps tops. Then, I have to turn off and on NAT Acceleration again to hit 800Mbps but it will again drop down to 260Mbps.

Finally, one time when it drops to 260Mbps, I just re-applied NAT Acceleration again (without turning off and on). The setting finally stuck. I have been getting 800Mbps ever since (even after rebooting).

which Asus router you using?  sweat.gif i checked all QoS, AiProtection, apps anlysis all off because i didnt use all the while also, i google search, notice a lot comment from this NAT acceleration, i have no choice to getting 500Mbps have to leave it on... perhaps it is Asus router older model issue? is geeting newer model can resolve this?  hmm.gif

i actually notice this problem when getting 100Mbps last year
enabled NAT acceleration, after some time my 100Mbps drop til 20Mbps... need reboot router
after disabled, i can forever hitting 100Mbps from speed test

I am using Asus RT-AC68U hardware ver A2 if not mistaken. Firmware is latest from Asus Support 3.0.0.4.384_32799.

Have you tried using another laptop/PC to check speed?

mine same latest firmware version with yours
i have another laptop i tried speed test with gigabit LAN also same

something wrong with the NAT acceleration feature built into this router, i remember someone recommend me disabled it when i am on 100Mbps when having such issue, the speed drop over days... after disabled no more speed drop over days.. now i have to enabled with it

yours, if disabled, will not hit 800Mbps right? what is the speed if disabled NAT acceleration?

thanks. smile.gif

260-300Mbps. Will not drop further after that.

Suggest you raise ticket with Asus Malaysia (https://www.asus.com/my/support/). It seems that your router's NAT acceleration may have a problem. Like mine, have to apply twice to make it work.
