I grew up being a big fan of Satay Kajang Hj Samuri. Despite everyone kept telling me that Hj Samuri becoming worse and worse over the years, I don't care and I think they are still one of the best satay in Malaysia. Well, after today's incident they are still one of the best satay in my opinion.

Problem does not lie with their satay quality but their service attitude and satay sauce. Don't get me wrong, the satay sauce is the best I have ever tasted even after today. Satay Kajang Hj Samuri's satay sauce is what makes Satay Kajang Hj Samuri one of the best. To be honest, their satay are just so-so. Nothing short of reheating the ready-made satay (at least this is the MO of Medan Mara branch since they don't make their satay there). It is the sauce that I am there and support Satay Kajang Hj Samuri for at least 15 years and still counting.

But after today, i might stop going, or maybe stop going for a while to Satay Kajang Hj Samuri. This is what happen. I ordered 25 satays, fish and chicken. And standard, they gave me a sauce. I finish the sauce a few times and on my 4th time, they ask for payment for sauce. I then said, wasn't the sauce free and without the sauce why would I come to you, I might as well just go KFC. She just showed me a print-out notice separated from the menu that shows RM5.90 for a 500ml satay sauce. The notice says, they only provide 1 sauce and any additional sauce cost RM5.90/6.90 (forgotten exactly how much) even 500 ml.

This is ridiculous because like I said why would I still go to them if every refill cost me RM6-7. The parking cost me RM5 already and the stiff hard satay cost RM1 each. Their drinks are one of the worst and now their sauce cost RM6-7. That is a very expensive price to eat satay because 4 refills cost me RM24-42. I know some of you might said 3-4 bowls sauces are alot but some people eat more sauce than others but on the other hand I ordered 25 sticks of them and their bowl are quite small.

Each refills I asked will get a down size. From 2nd bowl, less than a scoop to 3rd bowl less than half scoop. And they show very unwilling face to refill everytime. Like sit on the chair for 20 seconds then get up unwillingly to refill.

So that is all I want to say, Satay Kajang Hj Samuri is not worth going for a very very long time since the sauce is so expensive.

Meanwhile, I will need to find a good replacement.

Hope the original one still gives free unlimited sauce.

Frozen satay, burn atas eletric grill pastu dalam tak masak. Kuah cair dan manis gila.

Lat aku makan 8 tahun lepas. Tu pon makan 1 satay pastu buang kat kanter kat Awan Besar. Maki skit orang yang jual tu pastu aku blah.

i eat pasar malam satay only. rm12 30 cucuk.

it is hard to find satay sauce which in not watery in selangor and kl area

normally i go back ipoh to have satay...but then it is also getting expensive, from RM0.7 to RM0.9 now

to be honest for us Kajang people, the best satay in Kajang is usually this three:

closed down already, owners retired rich. non-halal (but no pork) = restoran Malaysia a.k.a. nyuk lan. can order with beer, staff and owner attitude quite lansi but they made the best satay, also can order alcohol.

halal = 1) satay willy @ sungai ramal
2) satay kajang sungai kantan

Order satay 10 chicken. Then tell the cashier, please send and receipt separately.

So u will get 1 stick each and one plate of kuah.

Do the math if u order 30 sticks.

If they argue, u tell them no minimum order right? Show me the notice. If die2 argue then tell him u got another 9 friends coming over.

Each only want one stick and one kuah.

Done deal

Could be due to franchise issue. Maybe franchisee only has limited amount of satay sauce so they have to be stingy on it.

I hope the main branch in kajang still is unlimited. If not it's really tanda akhir zaman.

I rasa yang asal di Kajang itu ada buat dan bakar instantly. Sama dengan branch taman melawati. tapi yang medan mara ini mereka guna yang sudah bakar punya, bakar semula dan buat panas dan hidangkan.

Kajang is a town with hidden gem of satay. Haji isn't the same anymore.

Maybe got people bring back the sauce n use them for their shop. Thats why they come up with that rule

They very not follow rule one. They got so many rules there but if you do that they can choose to neglect rule and said you can't do this. They are law creators.

The boss passed away some time back. Now under different management. Quality no longer same as last time.

Thanks will try it when I make a trip to Ipoh. I like some Ipoh foods especially the salted smoked chicken. Normally when i go Ipoh, I will have 2 chickens every meal.

Once there was a makcik.. an ex employee at department cucuk sate.. she told me, some worker use the stick to pick their teeth... That was around 15 years ago.. maybe today they already improve that.. like pee on the stick to show dominance

They are still in business because of their brand. I'd rather buy satay sold in pasar malam than going there again. Their service has become worse recently

I'm a picky eater when it comes to satay but honestly hj samuri and willy satay are still quite good for me. Just that the cons is can't drink beer together unless tapau

Last time best one in kajang is willy satay, too much demand quality goes down.

Now the new kid in town is Hakimisate, near MZ. damn juicy satay. I recommend order for take away tho.

I eat Kelana Jaya only now. The satay is manis2 and juicy. The kuah is spicy and a lot of kacang.. nyummy..

Last time the fader of satay zul has a little known gerai at the back of termin satay zul. Behind a music store yamaha iinm. Better taste.

Agreed satay willy is one of the best in recent times.

Not sure if it's famous but in Damansara there's this satay place called Satay Warisan. Damn good. Good service and infinite refill for sauce. The meat is damn tender and juicy. They even have nasi lemak to go with satay. Even better than Hj Samuri.

Hj Samuri lapsap la. Went there once and the satay damn keras.

Sate madura at Sg. Kayu Ara, different from sate kajang. Sate is less sweet with kuah kacang and kicap cili. Sate Samuri is selling their kuah kacang, last time 1kg =RM10 now price increased already. Deswai want to charge ppl for xtra kuah (probably not all branch)

I like satay willy too, but I find it to have too much colouring.

I don’t think it’s too healthy (compared to samuri ofc) in the long run

Haji Samuri is subpar nowadays. Some still using freshly cucuk-ed satay which is good, but most especially the R&R outlet is using mass-produced frozen one.
The kuah also getting watery. So I decided to ditch it all the way

Satay Willy is consistently good. I literally ate satay few times a month so trust me on that. I've only been to the Sungai Ramal & Nilai branch though.
Satay Balqis also not bad in Dengkil area.

Sate Madura Bu Leha, Kayu Ara is damn delicious. Kambing one that is. Eat with chillies, onion & kicap. Heavenly.
Don't order the chicken, quite meh since the kuah.

this. last weekend went to meal at satay kajang, order 30 cucuk satay, got a small bowl of kuah kacang. not to mention sate ayam/daging is 92 cents per cucuk.

Bestest is Sate Lanang, Jabi, Daerah Besut, Terengganu!
Sate gemok, kuah sedap, nasi impit padu, servis cepat dgn awek .... mmmm sedap nya!

Welp, those who runs foodstall before should understand the situation better.

Sauce is free, but still need cost to fork out. If they sell per satay is cheap technically they're making a loss. Because satay itself cant cover back those sauce cost.

TS is writing as a consumer part. So if they did put a notice of having to pay for extra sauce then there's nothing much you can do unless you want to boycott.

I eat with 2 other people, 30 cucuk, the big bowl sauce is enough, how the heck TS refill until 4th time...

You talk big about paying RM1 for a stick of satay but wanna suck sauce until the boss cannot cover rental/overhead/labour cost. You might as well open and the let Haji Samuri try your satay

The sauce is made of nuts. And the price has jump so much and i totally fine with what they are doing.

Around Giant saujana impian (?) there's a satay shop. Forgot the shop name but I see a lot of people eat there.

Most awesome satay i had . The meat is T H I C C. So thick and tender. It have a distinctive orange colour compared to other satay.
And the huge size is a dead giveaway.
And the pak cik so naise , see us college student need kap chin pay , 2nd visit give us alot of bawang and timun .
