I have an Asus ac88u and planning to get another router for aimesh. Thinking of Asus ax86u due to good reviews.

Will ac88u work with ax86u in aimesh?
Does ax86u connect to the maxis fiber modem? Planning to use ax86u as main router.

On Tenda AC23, ISP Unifi

House type: Landed
Size of house: 1k sqft per floor / 3 floors
Features required: Long range and stable
Number of devices connected to WiFi: 8-10 devices
Internet Speed: Unifi 100 Mbps
Budget: ~RM500?

Currently my Ground floor is installed with the stock modem/router by TM (silver), first floor Asus  RT-N14UHP setup as AP (connected with Ethernet cable) and 2nd floor Asus RT-AC66U setup as AP (connected with Ethernet cable)

Grd floor modem/router is situated at my back alley so the signal is very bad with the stock modem/router. So basically my grd and 1st floor are sharing the same AP router.

Now im only getting about 30 Mbps with wifi. Most of the time ill be having at least 3-4 devices connecting to it simultaneously.

Current setup is already 5 years old. So im thinking of changing the 1st floor AP router.

I'm looking at upgrading my router for my Unifi 500Mbps connection. My desktop is connected via LAN but there are a lot of devices so an upgrade may be useful. I am thinking of a router in the RM450-550 range. I came across the RT-AC86U even if its a bit over the budget. What's the review for this router?

Btw, if i use AX router as main router, then move my AC68u upstairs and setup wired aimesh, it can work right? Not too familiar with mesh network, but i suppose with an old AC node, it won't force the AX to downgrade to AC to maintain compatibility right?
