need some help from experts here regarding router setting...

my setup :

- BTU : Alcatel Lucent I240G
- Router : Dlink DIR-842 (NEW)
- Cable : CAT 6
- On Unifi 500Mbps

i follow the setup wizard in the dlink router to setup my unifi for both 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz...

i use my phone to connect to 5Ghz wifi and speedtest can reach around 200mbps, which is ok for me...then i use my laptop to connect to the 2.4Ghz wifi (my laptop does not support 802.11ac), the speedtest result is disappointing in which the result only give me 25mbps for both download and upload speed... sad.gif

before this i only use my old router which is the TP Link TL-WR841HP Wireless N router, and my laptop (connect to 2.4Ghz wifi) can get constantly good speed at around 75 to 80mbps for both download and upload speed, upon change to the dlink dir-842, the speed drops a lot and never can exceed 30mbps... sad.gif

have i done something wrong on the dlink 842 router setting? or i need to do extra setting for the 2.4Ghz wifi?

really appreciate some help here...thx a lot... smile.gif

Try to do factory reset the router, and then manually do the setup instead of using the setup wizard. Navigate to the WiFi setting page, try to change the frequency number

Can someone suggest me which router to buy for Unifi 800mbps? Max wifi connection should be 30 devices at once (rarely will have that much). The router will be located at the Ground Floor, in a 2-storey house

Would like to be able to get the full 800mbps, and also a stable one as previously we used a few router, which we need to restart once in a while.

Budget is RM1k, but since I'm not really sure about the market for router, I'll be glad if I can get something cheaper than my proposed budget.

Thank you guys!

This is how I setup for my house la.

1. Install AC86U at the living room.
2. Buy D26G Mercury Router and connect to AC88U via WDS. You may connect your PC to D26G via LAN cable.
3. If you have remaining routers just set them up as repeaters.

Everything bought from Taobao.

AC88U : RM 542 AC2600 rating
D26G: Mercury Router RM 180 AC2600 rating

If you have more budget can buy more D26G and setup around the house and place beside your work station or buy Asus AC68U and setup as Media Bridge.

not include shipping fees yet. The setup above is already adequate

I have tried the setup above, able to achieve 300 Mbps ++

Is your D26G near to the PC? What's the difference if say instead I were to use my laptop's own wifi receiver to connect to the router downstairs? 5GHz is available on my laptop

Yes, just beside. The speed will decrease when you connect your router down stairs directly. In my opinion and my experience, router is more powerful
