I understand. I just wanted to extend the signal for my upstair.
I'm using the stock router from unifi at down stair.

Buy RP-AC55 make it as Access Point, if you regret or want to do future upgrade, you can still buy ASUS AiMesh routers to used RP-AC55 as AiMesh node.
one stone kill two bird solve problem for now and future

Better to avoid TP-Link AX50. That model have overheat issue. If you are fan of TP-Link, can go for AX20 AX1800 (~around RM279) or can go for AX73 AX5400 (Currently on promo price till 5th Feb. The price is RM399 - RM448). Or you can look out for Asus RT-AX56U AX1800 (~around RM429).

Suggest you to buy 2 units RT-AX55.
having promotion right now: https://shopee.com.my/Asus-RT-AX55-AX1800-W...0984.4161367975

the old RT-AC68U can upgrade to latest firmware and get it support on AiMesh.

House type: Landed
Size of house: 1600 2 Floors
Number of devices connected to WiFi: 12
Internet Speed: Currently 100mbps, plan to upgrade to 500mbps in future
Budget: 800-1k

Hello friends,

Currently i have been using a Dlink DIR895L for like 4+ years, i feel like its dying. Been having wifi drops and my phone sometimes says wifi quality is bad and thus not connecting.

So ive just been researching new alternatives. Also my company is subsidizing RM300 of a cost of a new Wifi Setup for me.

My unifi modem and router is currently at the bottom floor, my room(office) is on 2nd floor.

I want to try a wifi 6 mesh system.
I also want to connect my PC thru LAN directly to the 2nd router(mesh device).
My Pc does not have wifi 6 support, so i want to bypass using a internal card extension this way.
It is also no possible to pull LAN cables from downstairs to upstairs.

So the connection would be : TM Modem > Router 1 >WIFI6> Router 2> Lan to PC (At the same time MESH for the rest of the house)

Based on my past 4 hours of research ive come up with these potential combinations. Any input and feedbacks is most welcomed, i might have misinterpreted how some of these work.

1) TP Link Deco X20 (2Pack) - around RM700
So can i actually connect the 2nd X20 thru LAN to my PC? I havent been able to see if this is actually how it works, or are the satellite units just WIFI only?
You are able to connect X20 via LAN cable to make your 2nd unit as node, however you X20 only come with 2 LAN ports.

2) TP Link AX73 + RE605X - around RM700
Seems like this would work. I just connect the PC to the RE605X thru LAN right?
Saw some one put this review in YouTube, when RE605X used in Mesh environment, the performance not as good as Repeater, you may check in YouTube before you make your final decision

3) Asus RT-AX55 (2 Pack) - around RM660
Can i set up the 2nd AX55 to connect to my PC on 2nd floor thru LAN?
AX55 is same segment with Deco X20, but it come with 4 LAN ports on each router, the advantage of ASUS is AiMesh, you can easily upgrade in the future, and it has a lot of selection for you to choose. I prefer this over Deco X20.

4) Huawei AX3 PRO 2x - Around RM520
Can i link 2 of these units for my purpose? I cant seem to find much about this.
What I worry is the consistency of Huawei networking product, you need to think about firmware maintenance over the time, security patches is very important, we faced cyber security threats.

As i understand TPLINK Mesh tech cant link 2 routers, if not i would consider 2x AX73s.
Asus Mesh however can do this.
How about DLINK?

Performance wise which combo's would be better and would future proof my network?
If budget allowed, go for ZenWiFi XT8, few friends of mine are using it, all of them feedback is positive, and this is future prove. They are trying to pursue me to buy 😅

Thanks so much for all your help!
EDIT: Will using this setup actually half my Internet speed? Like currently 100mbps, after going thru the 2nd router and connecting to LAN to my PC, will my speed be only 50mbps?

reason to buy XT8 is to reduce signal lost due to wall interference and also to avoid any wifi deadspot in the house.

You are right...XT8 coverage is really good!
