Before you start, check that your computer and router support Gigabit Ethernet by referring to the specs sheet. Make sure you use a CAT5E cable or better.

You can download this simple batch file to check your Gigabit link speed.
100000000 = 100Mbps
10000000000 = Gigabit

Connect your computer to your router and run the file to see see if the ports are Gigabit capable and repeat it with your BTU modem. If you do not get Gigabit speed but your equipment is Gigabit capable, check your wire and rerun the test with another computer and Ethernet cable.

If your BTU is confirmed to be a Gigabit capable BTU, contact your ISP as they may have configured it wrongly.

What about WiFi speed?

So to check if my BTU modem is gigabit capable I need to connect my laptop DIRECTLY to the BTU n run the above command?  YES or NO?

Actually without that also can just check, just connect BTU straight to computer and open network adapter properties, under status

When connected BTU to laptop, my laptop shows 100mbps
Connect BTU to my desktop PC, it shows 1.0gbps..
