The serial number indicates that it's made in Japan.

Another way is to look at the headstock decal. MIJ IBANEZ is silver, others are white. Not too sure about the new batch of low end Ibanez coming out of Indo though.

Ya serial number starts with F means that it is made in the Fujigen factory in Jepun. I dont know much about guitars though. Nice guitar there. Always wanted one with a top like that. What bridge is it?

I dont think it can cost 3k. Can already get a prestige for that price. I've seen people selling for 2k plus used on jamtank.

The F in the serial number represents Fujigen factory in Japan.
and its price cannot go above 2.3-2.5k IMO
for that kind of price it can get you a used prestige RG

Nice guitar u managed to get... how much did it cost? its got features i like, ie flame top and direct mounted pickups.
as others already mentioned, the F in the serial number represents the fujigen gakki factory in japan and 99 represents the year, and its the 16975'th guitar made in that year.
from the looks of it... it seems somewhat between an RG570FM or RG770FM but doesn't exactly match either. but both are flame maple top and basswood body. the RG770's have neck binding but urs doesnt. could possibly be a japan market model. quite lucky u got one with a matching flame top at the headstock which not many models have. one way to find out is to remove take off the neck and it should have the model stamped inside the joint.

can take a clearer pic of the tremolo? i guess it's probably a Lo-Pro Edge.
at the back of the neck does it have a bubinga stripe?

hi ,

usually , ibanez have a lower resale value than other brands in Malaysia

People rather get a new ibanez ..

so if you are going for RM2k , it will be difficult for you to sell...so what if its Japan ?

doesn't mean if its in Japan , means it has quality .. don't believe?..go try some lower end MIJ Jacksons , or some old Fernandes MIJ

2 years ago i got myself an Ibanez MIJ for less than RM1000

my opinion is , a fair price for this axe prob 1.1-1.4k

If the pickups is a QM or Dimarzio . you can go for 1.6-1.8k

LOL that dating method i mentioned only applies to 1997 and later which has 7 numbers (not including the alphabet). Before that 1997, it has 6 numbers. Ibanez didnt even exist in 1941.

your guitar was made in fujigen japan in 1994.

RG320's were never made in japan. RG5xx series and above are made in japan. there was once a limited edition of RG470/450's were made in japan in the the two years they introduced the Edge Pro trem. before and after those years all models below RG5xx are not made in japan.

only the S prestiges are made in Korea. high end sigs and RG prestiges are still made in japan.

its not a RGx20 series, cos those are H-H guitars.
and since all the pickups are mounted in the wood, im guessing its either a RG670 or 770, but since its dot inlays, well too bad.

im not a ibanez fan anyway.
GIBSON FTW tongue.gif

Err... are you planning on selling the guitar?

Quite a sweet looking guitar... you're probably better off keeping it since I'm sure it'll play very smooth and all...

It depends on the condition of the guitar itself. Cracks, scars, paint coming out and etc will bring down your asking price by the 100s.

That's why most ppl will prefer to COD if they're buying a guitar to check on the things I mentioned above.

And to remind you, no selling in this forum.

@ryo, you're welcome

from what I observe of guitars sold in US forums, typically, mint condition guitars of your type can sell for USD600. the more blemishes, dings and cracks etc (as thewhacker mentioned) the lower the price will be.

The fretboard can be cleaned, nothing wrong there. The body.. biasa la..battle scars. I suggest you keep it. I think its a good guitar.

Nice guitar IMHO despite the scars. definately a good workhorse. i've considered getting a good cheap second hand as a workhorse coz of the fear of adding any battle scars to my RG.

give it a good cleanup and polish, and the fretboard needs a little work. Also I use Fret Doctor (Bore Oil) on mine every half a year to keep it moisturized. (dont use lemon oil)
You definitely need a setup. The intonation looks totally wrong if i'm seeing what i think i'm seeing.

Here's a good read.
http://www.beafifer.com/boredoctor.htm
Doesn't seem quite bad in this explanation, but discussions at jemsite have also said that it tends to dry out the fretboard over time or smtg along that line because lemon oil is acidic. have to search for that thread. can't remember the details...

i'll stick to my gibson fretboard conditioner.

afterall these decades no one using gibson has complained about fretboard cracking anyway tongue.gif

btw, i wonder if soon that 'doctor' will come up with some food stuff so you dont sweat since its acidic too.

May I know where you guys get your Gibson Fretboard Conditioner? And how much is it?

Wow I really didn't know about fretboard actually reacting to different "oil".. I actually started using Lemon Oil and continued using it because it was one of the only "oil" that easily cleaned up the dirt on my fretboards that I did not clean for a very long time before.. LOL laugh.gif

ah i see one of the concerns is the frets corroding part.
thats never a problem for gibson as they use higher quality fretwire.
i dunno about newer ibanez, but older ones do rust.

I've heard alot of people use steel wool to clean their maple fretboard when the dirt really gets down deep...
Although it doesn't really sound like a good idea to me.

Ok, I think this thread already served it's purpose regarding the RG guitar...... I'll close this thread down (unless TS has a good excuse, which in that case please PM me), and all other conversations can be continued in our usual Guitar Phreaks thread.
