Weeks ago, I created a topic on Laptop Overclocking following my query on how safe is it to permanently overclock it (by enabling High Performance mode in BIOS) but i was scolded, mocked by several really uncivilised forummers saying how brainless i didnt even know wat i was talking abt- laptop overclocking? hell, the topic was even closed by the moderator. why the hell such a big fuss ACtually i dono whether laptop can oc onot but my last topic confirm me ppl don believe it can b done on laptop. if then, wht is tis i see below? Well not having seen the original thread I cant say what was the nature of the flaming you received but you've obviously proven that it is POSSIBLE. Though safe or not is another story. Meh.....but I think you shouldnt really bother about oc-ing with a laptop

i jus try to prove tht lappie can oc thts all. cus some stubbornheads deadsure lappi to oc is impossibal meh, even the moderatorr think i wasting my blardy tim, i tink i am. uhm, my lappi not hot eh amazing venti so still can oc...i js feel is not worth trying for dat 10% up oni...huhu |

I do overclock my laptop last time. Default frequency is 1.60GHz. Highest stable clock reached is 2.0GHz; 1.036V. Temperature of processor reached 89C. Fan duty is 80%, as reported by embedded controller. It was way too hot and noisy to be turned on all day long.
My usual everyday clock is 1.76GHz@1.084V. Temperature reaches 84C at full load. Fan load is 50-60%, depending on room temperature. Makes lots of difference when folding. Slight increase in performance when gaming. Now, I'm back to default clock speed to reduce noise from fan. 1.60GHz@ 1.036V. Temperature is about 69 to 76C. IMHO, I think it's not really worth to overclock a laptop. It produces a lot more of heat, for a small increase of performance. |

IMHO, overclocking laptops might be worthwhile if you need something done fast, but only for short stints (not for gaming though). The temp is scary man..low temp solder on components might even be starting to melt already..

im not sure this considered as OC, but when i first bought my lapie Compaq V3119, there was an option in nVidia control panel to increase somethin's Mhz.... when i increased that, laptop default 1.6Ghz increases up to 2.0Ghz.
Im not OC guy, so i dun know how to check all the data n stuff... but one thing i noticed was temp was very very hot, n if i dun use cooler pad... there would be burning smell from the processor. after 2 days i set it back to 1.6 coz its still brand new half month old laptop. Now dun hav that option coz use Vista. |
