QUOTE(rcracer @ Sep 10 2018, 01:11 PM) Whatever is said Price is one that many can afford by taking extended years for loan. However, maintenance is another because here you have turbo, large tyres, many electronic features, etc. Only.one thing matters PRiCE Price it as per market now and see whether kena diao few generations back or not If something breaks down after car warranty period or because it is a normal wear and tear item and you didn't save enough for it, you're in huge trouble. Let the first buyers (guinea pigs) test it first to prove its quality and reliability. |

QUOTE(PLOUFFLE @ Sep 10 2018, 09:08 PM) hankook good quality???? If they kept local brand, i can only think of Silverstone. Silverstone tyres are better than China brand ones, but not better than Koreans. These are for local passenger car tyres. Not performance tyres. In fact Toyo bought Silverstone some years ago. So there may be Toyo formula in the new Silverstones. But Toyo tyres are really much sought after also. People would rather go for Yokohama or Falken that cost more. why no use china brand tyre??? what battery brand proton use?? yuasa? gs? yokohama? 18" tall suv tires. How many people you know that drives SUV wheels that big? In fact Korean tyres seems to be nearing European brand quality already. I have been seeing a company who uses performance cars as a taxi ride business on the Nurburing and they are liking Nangkang performance tires compared to the Pilot Cup that costs more. But that is because the cost and almost comparable performance for business usage. That info may or may not be useful to us. But that is a general idea what quality Korean tyres are today. |

Actually i hate signal on left.
Im one of the guys who actually use signal. If signal stick on right, i can just use my right hand to drive and give signal. Left stick means i need to use my left hand to turn it. |

Signal on the left is big turn off.
Still have people rush to buy car without waiting for reviews? For me, i will wait to see the market feedback as this is china made car with a not so popular logo. I wouldn't risk my family life driving a china car. |

Many european cars are very bad to convert to RHD. Some even left the push start button on the passenger side like the audi. But the worst still french cars.

Those who can't afford to spend 10 mins to get use to the different stalk arrangement probably can't afford one with money anyways.

It doesn't really matter which side as long as it's consistent....
The problem is, the bulk of cars in Msia have the signal stick on the right.....and it becomes reflex when driving.... When I drive a conti rental, takes a bit of getting used to at first....keeps pushing the wiper.... Then come back to Msia....push the wrong stick again.... |

There is being principled about important issues, and being a whiny pussy about every little thing. Guess which end of the spectrum you are? |

Guys,
Signal stalk at left or right, depends on the person. Most can adapt, but some cant. If they own one, surely they have to. If just renting or borrowed, sure they will curse. I noticed some of you mentioned abt conti cars. But, do u noticed that (some?) of the conti cars, it has only one stalk at left side? No stalk at the right side? That is because the cars do not use stalk for lamps (headlights and fog lamps). They uses a rotary switch for that. To switch on the headlights, u can set to auto or manually by turning them. If you want to switch on the foglight, you have to PULL it. If you want to switch on the rear foglight, pull it another step. For me, if Proton want to have signal stalk on the left, remove the right stalk and implement the rotary switch for lights. This is to avoid idiot drivers that constantly switch on their foglight at all time. Nah, if really want to discuss abt the location of signal stalk, please make a new thread or discuss with Mercedes/bmw/audi UK car forums. Dont forget to introduce yourself as Malaysian and let me know so that i can see the responds after that. Abt the X70, do anyone of you here noticed the Proton's statement, when the CKD begins, they will do more changes. Not just cosmetically. I think, i read somewhere that they are allowed to tune the suspension and handling. I hope this is true. I also read somewhere that Geely has tested the car reliability. They even drive a fleet of the cars to UK to prove that. I think we also need Chinese speaking friends from here to find forums from china, and find any issues regarding Boyue and share it here, please. That would be helpful. Cheers |

Guinea pig should only be used if the product is all-new to the market and completely untested outside in the real world. Lol, those defending on the left side signal are most likely poorfag proton salemen. Just ignore these rude arrogant bias comments that seek not to improve and couldn't accept critical comments. No wonder all their car models sucks.

Use the signal stalk on left or right also need to adapt ka? Where did you get your driving license? There is being principled about important issues, and being a whiny pussy about every little thing. Guess which end of the spectrum you are? Now i see which end of spectrum you are. |

QUOTE(dares @ Sep 10 2018, 11:31 PM) Just because it's an inconvenient/issue for people like you doesn't mean it's an issue for everyone. No offence, but it cuts both ways. I have Japanese, local and conti cars at home, never once was I "inconvenienced" by the different location of the stalk of each car when I drove them. I guess some people are more easily confused and "inconvenienced". Just because certain people are never inconvenienced by left signal stalk does not mean everyone else is the same. Some drivers can get used to driving a different car within minutes, while others may need longer time to adapt. I'm one of those poor sods. Owned a conti with left signal stalk for four years, hated it. Still got confused especially when using wipers and windscreen washer. Found myself high beaming people when I wanted to wash my windscreen. So, while it's good you have high adaptability, perhaps we could try to respect other people's shortcomings and individual preference of those with less capability to adapt? |

Now Geely also has the ambitious to conquer SEA and the rest of the world. So, left side is logical. Can buy car at lazada or not? The signal stalk on the left is 1 of the hint of a half-arsed right hand drive conversion job. I still have not seen the glove box yet. Later turn out like a lot of those French cars for right hand drive . Fuse box occupy the space of the glove box.

Proton took the time to move the important bits on the center console such as the parking brake+auto hold buttons to the right side. Less important buttons like eco/sport and parking sensors are moved to the left. Heck, they even split the rear AC vents from just one big vent into two smaller vents with individual controls to suit local demand. There are much more established companies that did half-hearted jobs like Ford keeping the handbrake on the left for the RHD Mustang, for instance. |

QUOTE(ceras @ Sep 12 2018, 04:18 PM) Not really, China still receives the same model as we are until 2020 and by 2021, the X70 will be 3 years old.Which means when the time comes for Proton to update the X70, it will likely be based on the 2nd facelift Boyue. Just a positive thought. |

Is it fair to compare price of 1.8L Turbo with 1.5L Turbo or 1.5L non Turbo
If China 1.8L Turbo car same price or lower than non China 1.5L Turbo, still not worth it? |

Bookings now have reached 5,000 units apparently. Again, without loan approval just yet but still shockingly high.

Merc, BMW, Audi and Lexus owners rushing over to check out a Proton car made in China.“They are not our typical customers. The model has captured the market of other brands. This could make a difference for Proton as it has suffered from a trust deficit setback among the people,” the dealer said. interesting X70 has transcended the "Proton" brand, something that not even the Perdana managed to do and that car was based on a Honda. Proton claims that the prices will be revealed once bookings reach 10,000 units. At this rate, it's only a matter of a couple weeks. |

I guess the higher the number Of bookings ... The higher the car price. Proton just waiting for the booking numbers for them to finalize their pricing... Its a simple supply and demand theory. But since this is the turn around model to proton...they have to be cautious with their pricing cause they know people is not confident with China made quality and their bad track record.

Second preview session, now open for general public invites. Notice how the people being interviewed look like the type that could realistically afford one.....or two. |

I think the voice command feature that start by saying "Hello Proton" should instead change to "Hoi/Oi Proton" or "Abe Protonnn..." Or something like that. More Malaysian sound.

the specs looks good. I wonder whether our new third national car can afford to beat proton or not.. Probably, gomen need to pump much more money for it to stay competitive...

I think this car would be only as popular as the perdana; or maybe the inspira if they price it right
It’s beyond the affordability of most Malaysia especially the high spec (600/tyre? Volvo engine parts?) But still just wait for the car to launch first. Don’t know what’s taking proton forever Tease tease tease 🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️ |

Binyue and VF11 MPV are confirmed to be part of Proton's new launches in 2019 and 2020 respectively following X70.
https://www.carlist.my/news/geely-license-3...til-2020/52733/ ![]() ![]() Also. In China, it's reported that the 2nd facelift Boyue will ditch the 1.8T and utilize a mild hybrid powertrain for better fuel efficiency. Something to look forward to for X70 facelift. |

Surprise!! Look what we have here...
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Gone is the 1.8T+6AT and in goes the 1.5T+7DCT. Apparently, some variants might even get a hybrid setup as well. Also upgraded are the safety features which are now capable of semi-autonomous driving(Level 2), previously it was only level 1. Just as Proton has opened online bookings for X70, a new version of the donor car is leaked. Oh well, let's hope they see this and bring it as the facelift X70. |
