That's really expensive for just getting braces done. I've finished mine with half the price. I could have finished it within 2 years but I went overseas to study so for one whole year I had to tie a rubber every night until I went back for summer holiday. I'm satisfied with mine!!
The pain was worth it. I had to have porridge for the first few days of each appointment I attend to. I didn't quite bother about decoloration. I had almost any food but I tried avoiding chewing gums and gas drinks. The acid in gas drinks might dissolve the glue.
A strong reminder to fellow bracerians is please use the small toothbrush of Oral B to clean the gap in between brackets. You don't wanna have your gums swell and look horrible after finishing your term. My teeth became yellowish after having braces but now it's whitening again. So nothing much to worry.
No pain no gain. smile.gif

i didn't knw the that gas drink can dissolve the glue.. anything else that cant eat or drink with braces on?

Try not to bite anything too hard e.g. apples without cutting them into thin little pieces. Chewing gum might stick to your brackets so try your best to refrain from it. Some people avoid curry cos it might decolour your brackets but I didn't bother.

I just went for my 3rd visit yesterday. Dr. How refused to remove my bite stopper sad.gif And... he put separator for me. I counted, there's 17 of them. I have 17 separators in my mouth sad.gif(

It's quite painful as compared to previous 2 visits to put on the brackets. Sigh... even more difficult for me to eat now...

ohmy.gif 17 separators? Why so many of them?

I didn't put on retainer for 2 days and I felt like my lower jaw teeth has moved a bit. And when I put on yesterday, it felt quite tight. OMG. So advice for all of you is to put on retainer even after you've debraced. I've seen many people's teeth went back to the original state cos they didn't put on retainer.
Good luck all. Bear with the pain. It'll be over very very soon. smile.gif

how do you get it done at a government hospital? Can you just go there and say you want braces? I hate my teeth but my parents are against getting braces for me even though we definitely can afford it, because they refuse to pay for something unnecessary :'( so I want to try to fund it myself!

Wow. Tell them it's definitely necessary girl. For my case, both my parents insisted that I put on braces although mine wasn't that serious. My dad said it's important that one's teeth is presentable. It makes a difference somehow. And I'm happy with how my teeth looks like now. You have nice teeth ---> you become more confident ----> you smile more -----> people perceive that you're friendly and sweet (just some sort of philosophy to convince parents). lol

I'm from Penang. any bracesians from Pg? any recommendation?

I went to Looi Orthodontics. Right opposite Tanjung Hospital. Near PCGHS. Very famous orthodontist. smile.gif BUT long waiting time each appointment. The outcomes are good though. Almost all my high school friends went there for braces.
