i'm not sure how accurate is accubattery but my OPO 2014 with ori battery still shows degraded 20%. i only practised keeping battery between 20-80% this year( i know its too late) , all 4 years i've been charging to 100% overnight.

Well, like I said, as long as there are parts for it, shouldn't be too hard to find someone to switch the thing out if your batteries have worn out too badly.

Though when it comes to "sealed" devices like the OP6 with its water resistance, I'm not so sure about leaving my device under the care of "normal" folks (aka kedai corner Lowyat) for a battery replacement.

Like I know most Samsung SCs do water integrity tests after repairs.

ace-user It's actually entirely dependent on the quality of the cells used IMHO. At least with what I've seen in my own devices.

My old Honor 8 only got through less of a year of overnight charging before going cookoo completely (like going straight to zero from 20% and not even holding 100-20% charge that long).

My replacement unit H8 I configured for 90% max limited charging and its doing pretty fine past a year now (as my backup phone) with none of the "20% sudden death" crap.

Of course, it can just be that particular battery used in my initial H8 though. But I'm planning to use my OP6 for quite a bit so yeah, better safe than sorry (have it setup for 90% max also).

i sold my opo the beginning of this year coz the rear camera spoilt and could not be fixed..the battery still hold up very nicely although i bought in june 2014...i always start my day with 100%...give me 5 bro!

Battery health greatly depends on many factors, one of it would be your charge cycle. Its not being how long you have used your phone, its rather how many charge cycle the phone went through. If its not affecting your usage much, I dont see a need to get the battery replaced.
There is a gel type substance which is called the 'sealer' which is used to seal your phone once every part including the battery is put back in place. After the sealer dries up and settles on the internals of your phone, technicians will perform a pressure test on the phone to check for leakages. Im pretty sure outside repair shops wont be able to perform the same tests.

TBH it's 2018 and there's still a lot of conflicting information about the true nature of what is "good" and "bad" about batteries so I can't say I blame you for being unconvinced.

For me, if not for that little Honor 8 battery incident I wouldn't have cared either.

Even more so that you change phones often. On my end I guess I'm more of a buy once use until break in half type of guy so its probably a bit more relevant to try to stretch the cell lifespan like that.

Your battery life sounds normal to me if you could still get 5 1/2 hours to 7 hours SOT. Im not sure if Mihan has this policy of replacing a worn out battery. Samsung does as I have changed my Note 8's battery quite recently but it was a known defect on the Note 8's battery. Never heard of this on the oneplus 6 though.

Haha.. Nola... I bought or change a lot of phones since 2014..i just kept opo as collection actually until this year. Now my main daily drivers are op6 and note 9...with the rest of the phones lying around hehe.. Eg s8 plus, s7 edge, axon 7 etc

To be fair, I do think 2018 cells are smart enough to be overnight charged lol. I do it all the time.

It's just that I don't think phone Manufacturers are motivated enough to make phones that have sealed batteries that are charge limited to 90% of their "actual" capacity (or in other words taking a 3600mah cell and artificially limit it to 3340mah) for the sheer sake of cell longetivity (vs runtime).

Unfortunately, for a 2/3-year cycle upgrader like me that's a bit of a pickle TBH, hence my choice for artifical charge limitation - even if the science behind it isn't entirely mainstream.

Actually, the Zenphone 5Z actually comes with something very similar to a "charge limiter" as part of the AI Charge feature - probably the only modern (kinda sorta) "flagship" to even attempt this AFAIK.

Which is rather fascinating to say the least.

I'm still wondering about dual-sim battery drain though. Any input folks? Is it considerably worse then running single-sim or no real impact?

Apart from the bug i screenshot above, I also face intermittent keyboard bug like u mentioned. I have wiped the phone's cache and the oneplus launcher app's cache but the problem persisted.

Then i switched from nova launcher beta prime to oneplus launcher and so far they are gone for the last few hours. So i guess the bug has something to do with nova then. Now everything is smooth and 0 bugs touch wood

You can get cheap ones from Ninjaz or Login Gadget if you don't mind the sides did not cover full. Most of the times they gave free. I never paid for my 3T screen protector
