Yes. Around 10-20% depending on coverage. Your phone needs to constantly search for 2 networks the whole time and hence the increase in battery usage.

Thanks for that.

So by rough estimates it will be something like 3-4h SOT with Dual-Sim active (vs my current 4-5h average SOT). Shouldn't be too bad considering that's what I got on average the last time I was over there (with my H8 + broadband hotspot), and at least I now only have to stick my powerbank(s) up just one device lol.

Hopefully speeds and coverage would be decent though. Will report back a quick update once I'm over yonder if anybody's interested.

For hotspot tethering for the whole day during roaming. I would need to charge my phone at least once after unplugging in the morning. Are you going to Japan? Why not just rent one of those mifi devices and charge as much as you want without stressing our phone batteries.

But I don't think the 6T import set will be any cheaper, my guess will cost around RM2,399 for 6+128...

and 2 things the 6T lacks of, LED notification, headphone jack. headphone jack is not an issue for me, but LED notification will be..

I'll be staying there for about a month so a long term data SIM actually works out better cost-wise vs the MiFis TBH, and I don't really plan to hotspot the phone all that much either (I do most of my surfing on the phone anyway).

But we'll see. I've done the MiFis a couple of times previously already (and apparently Docomo is phasing out 3G so there goes the cheapest MiFi option, which is still about RM60 more expensive anyway), so I'm actually curious as to how a datasim setup would work out in comparison - especially considering the slightly lower cost.

The increased drain = increased charging need might be a valid point though. Remains to be seen if its worth the cost and load savings.

If it drains the OP6 too badly I guess I can always stuff it into my spare H8 and use that as a hotspot though.

Turbo VPN works fine. If you dont want the hassle download Oxygen Updater on playstore.

If you are not tethering the phone, the battery could easily last from morning to night. Its only when you tether that the phone battery gets drained pretty badly.

I'm in dilemma whether to get..

One+6 6003 ($2499) or 6000 ($2099) or 6013 ($2588) all at 8GB/128GB
or even get the lowest

One+ 6003 ($2299)or 6000 ($1799) all at 6GB/64GB

Actually 64GB is suffice for me...

No difference on btw 6003 and 6000 if using Malaysian networks. Get what is most affordable for you.

I'd say 6H is doable because I normally get about that on a good day doing the above without any BT music use, on 4G data alone.

Heck, someone here has even gotten 7H SOT before, but it's worth noting that SOT is highly dependant on your specific setup of apps, cellular coverage and use case scenario.
