Hello guys... I'm a P20 owner from Jakarta. I bought Malaysia set as this model is not officially available in my country (only the Pro model sold here). May I know what is the latest version of EMUI 9 available for Malaysian set? Currently, my P20's build number is 9.0.0.168 patch01.

Yup, that's exactly the same as mine, I just too lazy to type all of those letters biggrin.gif Anyway, thank you for your clarifications.

Do you all have 2 themes app? Coz i have 2 exactly same theme apps.
*
Nope, I only had 1 Themes app and it's from Huawei itself. Maybe you can try to investigate the package information with app such as App Inspector and see which one is the official Themes app.

under "apps", there is only 1 "themes".

but under the app drawer, there is 2 exactly same app, both with same version number.

Maybe try to clear the cache from EMUI Recovery would help or try to clear the Huawei Home app cache.

just found out something new after playing around with my phone:

open camera app -> go to more -> go to download

can download "Good Food" mode. laugh.gif
*
Haha.. Checked it and I downloaded it also, not so useful but nice to have it la tongue.gif

BTW, do you guys got new system update yet? A user in XDA Dev P20 subforum just reported that he already received a new update with January 2019 security update and a fix in RAM management.

Trying to figure out whether to buy used p20 or new pocophone for 1200
*
Quite a hard choice between these 2 phones. Personally, I'm thinking that Poco F1 is more smooth and feel so fast compared to P20 (already compared this side by side with my friend's Poco F1), but if you are concerning about camera quality, it's no brainer since P20 is the clear winner here!

Also, I think the P20's build quality is way more premium than Poco F1 polycarbonate build. Also, don't forget that majority of Poco F1 owner also reported the typing inaccuracy, I'm not really sure whether Xiaomi has managed to fixed this issue or not.

So, it's up to you since everyone's preferences for their phone is different after all.

Finally the software update give the option to adjust the brightness with the quick setting pull down from the top.

Dude, really?? As far as I can remember, I had this same exact functionality since I unboxed my P20.

None at my side. What's the update about
*
I also not received this update yet. The XDA forum member said this update contains some improvement and Jan 19 security patch.

ah, just noticed yours is p20, mine is p20 pro, nothing yet even in XDA.

This is what I hate most from Huawei & Honor devices. We know that other users already received some updates but we aren't yet and no workaround to force update other than sitting in the corner and waiting for the update to come.

To be fair, Samsung also like this, but of course the bad thing about Huawei is that they have so many different regions for software, and some regions are really slower in receiving updates than others.
You can try "Developers Option", set "Stay Awake while charging", not sure if it works.
*
However, with Samsung when the updates are available and you haven't received OTA yet, you can manually download the firmware file from sites such as Samfirmware and do the manual flashing to your phone. Huawei simply did not allow this since they aren't publicly released their firmware files.

What sort of improvement?
*
According to a post in P20's XDA sub-forum:

Update 9.0.0.197 changes - 1st February 2019
- Recent apps navigation when using off-screen nav is fixed (no more problems with opening the apps one the sides of the navigation vertical list)
-January security patches

for huawei, you can try firmware finder, but there are some feedbacks that it's not compatible with emui 9, not too sure.

last time my old huawei phones can, but now lazy try and play around anymore.

because of this slow update issue from huawei, someone started the service called funky huawei, but damn expensive.  laugh.gif

LoL.. I don't want to shell out any money just to get an update for my fully paid phone biggrin.gif

Yeah, I think we can just sit back and wait for the update to finally come to our phone icon_rolleyes.gif

Personally, I like my P20, it's the camera that makes me don't wanna change this phone yet (usually, I get bored within 1-2 month of phone ownership) IMO the camera results are so outstanding brows.gif

yes... the screen is dark (like when u are not using), but if people called me, it will ring and if I swipe properly at the area to receive call, I will be able to pickup the call.
*
Maybe can try to turn it off completely by holding on the power button for 15 seconds or so. If it still cannot light up the screen, I suspect your LCD screen is damaged by (maybe) bad power bank unstable output.

Wah... finally got a new update 9.0.0.199 for my Malaysian's P20 unit. Downloading it now...

EDIT:

Anyone here rocking their P20 without any protective case? Do you experience any bad luck when carrying around your P20 naked? Currently, I had the Spigen Rugged Armor & RhinoShield SolidSuit but got boring with them as well as these cases makes my P20 more bulky.

I'm finally traded-in my P20 with Galaxy S10 about 2 days ago in the Samsung Experience Store near my office. I don't want to sell it through online ads board since my P20 display had 2 bright white spots in the bottom part of the LCD.
