First and foremost, congratulations!!

u must be very thrilled!

anyway, u plan to get the baby delivered with the same doctor?
if thats the case, please find a place thats easily accessible from ur location.

mother can give birth any time, so do keep in mind about traffic situation as well.

im not saying u should judge base only on accessibility in these terms only, but do keep this as one of the points when making a decision.

Because me and my partner, we went to both private and government, and because giving birth in Kuantan, we go to private there as well.
in total 3 clinics during pregnancy, but u only want to know about KV.

backstory, went to try and get appointments with many famous (and expensive) clinics. Some i get, some still need to wait. Because cant sabar (some need to wait for 3 months) i googled and found out about Dr Asokan from KPWC. Klinik Pakar Wanita Connaught.

Not that many people, convenient opening hours, and great doctor.
price also cheap.
nice photos of baby (compared to KKIA) and the doctor dont rush and really takes time to explain.

whats most important is both of us very comfortable with the doctor.
Dr Asokan delivers the baby at Pantai Cheras and Lourdes.

We dont deliver in KV, so i cant tell u the delivery experience with Dr Asok, but pregnancy checkups are good.

Hi quebix,

That is in Cheras which is abit far from Kepong. If I decide to go that far to cheras for a doctor, I would choose Dr Tan Ee Ping as her clinic in Sri kembangan and a visiting OB in Pantai Cheras.

Currently I'm exploring and have made an appointment with Dr Lam at Kpj Sentosa. Hopefully my wife approve
*
so u from Kepong?

Anyway, i was born 37 years ago in Sentosa Medical Center. They were not under KPJ yet then/
Sorry, but i cant remember much about my birth. lol

I bet it was OK, because after that both my younger brother and sister were also born at Sentosa.

Haha good to know ! I must admit I was tempted to send my wife to the same clinic I was born in lol but it's a small size maternity clinic only. It may look sufficient then but definitely not now as we all gain more knowledge than our parents back in the day and know a better equipped hospital is best.

Few days ago me and wife went to those Gov clinic and get ourselves sticker..closest open appointment..October 😐 Next week go see Dr Lam dulu to put everyone at ease 😂

wah? i thought its not really according to empty slot for appointment but more to how far into pregnancy the mother is?

must be ur KKIA at a very dense/heavily populated area and most people go to this KKIA.

That I cannot be sure but while I register with the nurse, I can see their log book full as she was flipping it. KKIA is location base I suppose, they repeatedly ask for housing address to see if our are falls under that particular KKIA. I'm sure if my address is outside of their scope, they would've refer me to the KKIA designated for my address.

Funny thing is me and wife both too the day off preparing ourselves to wait hours in the KKIA..end up registration took all but 15min and we spent the day jalan jalan 😂
*
yeah KKIA is based on ur home address.

mine was a quick stop to the KKIA to get appointment. available next week, not in a month like urs.
KKIA tip when u already have appointment. dont care what time ur appointment is, just come at 7:30 or earlier, take ur number/pass the pink book and by 9 u can go back already.

we also went to see private doctor in kl.

coz wife delivered in hometown, when she stayed there like few weeks before EDD, KKIA in KL transferred her files to KKIA in hometown.

Also after delivery the KKIA at hometown will send nurses to come and look at mother n baby.

delivered in private hospital though.

so far both KKIA and Private is satisfactory. of coz have differences though.

🤔 Thanks for the heads up. 730am it is !

How KKIA know if your wife delivered or not as you choose private for it? Was there any phone calls follow up? I hope nurses will drop by for mine like in your case. Puts everyone at ease

owh, after delivery, need to inform them.
Also, need to bring baby for their Baby Book (something like the pink book).

the reason why they assign areas for different KKIAs is for the nurses to come over and visit.
KKIA nurse in Batu Caves wont go to PJ house.
Thats why they need ur address.

Also, back in KL, we follow up our baby in KKIA. Same, 7:30am there.
They are quite good actually, when my son kena HFMD and was hospitalised (private) the KKIA nurses called my wife to confirm, and special officers will call and investigate.
I guess its the law on contagious diseases, so the private hospital informed the KKM and KKM managed to get KKIA to call us.
Then again, it depends on ur area i guess.

The nurses at our KKIA is satisfactory, and outside of work bumped into them, they recognised my son.
Suddenly a lady mention my son's name and commented on how he look. Its the nurse at KKIA.
Much have been so many babies in KKIA but still remember my son by name. Hebat!

I hope we get the same kind nurses as you ! The KKIA is about 1.5km from my house only. Do you call the KKIA up and just inform them wife's name had delivered ? Do you make appointment thru the phone for the 'baby pink book' ?
*
i think the nurses call us up nearing the due date and we informed them.

then after delivery they called again and we said already delivered.

Consulted Dr Lam for the first time yesterday. Appointment's at 1215pm. Reached at 1130am. 235pm baru our turn to see the doctor 😒

Everything went smoothly I guess. Did ultrasound and can see heart beat 😍. Appraised the doctor on which supplement wife is taking and what we should add on. Total time with Doctor 25min. Total damage $160.

If you ask me I would say Dr Lam is ok so far. But it's my first time so maybe I was expecting more 'talk' with the doctor..like telling you what to avoid etc..
*
So are you going back to Dr Lam? 2.35pm, didn't stop for lunch? RM160 with supplement given?

If tt helps yes why not? Things like elevated body temperature during pregnant is normal should be conveyed. Like what to expect during the next few weeks/months. As you know it was our first visit. A good chunk of that 25min was us making sure everything is spelled right in our forms and menstrual cycle timeline. After that it's the ultra sound. You understand 'consultation' right? We sat down and consult the doctor for all but 5-8mins. But oh well, me and wife agreed to 'get the doctor next time' 😂😂😂 Gonna log our questions in the mean time.
*
oic. i thought 25 minutes of consultation time as you mentioned "total time with Doctor is 25 minutes"
