Just perform a hard-reset. Without any software installation, program memory should be around 29MB (with the HTC Home plug in)

The patched mapking is good, your Kaiser will be more sensitive and accurate. I tried Garmin QUE and although the map is good, the sensitivity is terrible. Now I just installed Garmin Mobile XT, need more time to test its usability. Unlike Que, you dont need to have GPS Proxy running wink.gif

MadMan,

Yea, I got the Garmin MXT running on my Kaiser with built-in GPS. Good thing is that it doesnt require GPS Proxy. But one of the cons is that you can't set the GPS ID. PM if you wanna know how coz it involves some workaround & cracking. I don't think its appropriate to describe it here.

jmunchar,

1. From my experience handling GPS on Kaiser, it doesnt really take that long to get a fix on the GPS. I once beat my friend getting a fix on our GPS, he's using external GMXT GPSr. The cons having internal GPS is that your GPS built-in antenna need to be under the windscreen. So in daytime, its kinda hard to see the Kaiser PDA screen (as it is very dimmed & reflective). If you have an external GPSr, you can just put the receiver on the dashboard and your PDA elsewhere. Kinda hard to explain but I think you get the idea.

2. Map provided by MapKing is quite good. If you buy Kaiser, pls download the patched version for Kaiser, as the one provided in the CD have some issue with Kaiser.

3. The Peninsular Map contains the other cities as well. But don't expect it to be as detail as KL Map.

4. A very subjective question. Depends on who you're asking. Overall, I like my Kaiser.

For the R12 version, there's a map for East Malaysia. There's no separate map for each state. You have to depend on the Peninsular Map.

Don't worry too much on it, you can use Garmin on your Kaiser.

daceman,

IMHO, the latest GMXT really beats Mapking 2007. Glad to know that I am not the only 1 running it on kaiser. biggrin.gif

Yea, the route is way better than Mapking. And the overall it is huge leap from garmin QUE. But the recalculation is too slow. I think it's not with the software, guess the Qualcomm chipset is not sensitive enough to work with Garmin.

I read in some other forum it does support 6 GB SDHC though I'm not sure whether patch is needed for this.

Well, why don't u try driving around town and switch on your GPS. Put in on your dashboard and start your stopwatch. Initially, it would take longer than usual. Once you managed to get a fix, it should take a minute or two the next time (even after you close the app).

However, based on my experience, if you soft reset your Kaiser, you're back to square one.

what's the best price to purchase this at the moment ?

You can also try Freshgear shop. Although they sell at the same price (3,288) they give u extra 1-year warranty, and of course, the same freebies. I just happened to be one of their customer.

Hi guys,

need some advice, new to the tytn II.

From the user manual, connection to the company e mail is for microsoft exchange 2007 and above and since my office uses the microsoft exchange 2003 how to get it running......... please help. tq
*
Well, it's not that hard or easy. If your company using private WIFI, you need to contact your IT admin and get your device to be able to connect via the WIFI. Normally they'll give you the password and the connection encryption type.

And then you can change the exchange setting in your Kaiser, you can just follow the one in your laptop (the outlook setting).

If you're using 3G, you'll need to dial VPN access to be able to access your Exchange.

Anyone pls correct me if I'm wrong.

i get mine online at doml.com.my, with the shipping takes about 1 week the most so far, as i've bought a few items from them before. i got a pdair pouch from them also, very worth it IMO, better than my krussel for sure!
*
I wanted to get the Krusell the other day at freshgear, RM148. They offered me RM130. I dont mind the stitching and the colour. However, I dont like the fact that the keyboard is covered with the plastic. It makes the tactile feedback even worse.

Still looking for a better leather case now.

Guys. I am having a migraine figuring out how to install garmin to the tytn. So many  things have to install issit?
*
Not really. If Que, u have to install GPS proxy first, and the Garmin Que. But for Garmin MXT, u don't need the GPS Proxy.

Que is the old version. GMXT is the latest one available for Pocket PC.

GMXT is more user friendly.

With Que, u are limited to 2D navigation, you have to manually set the power management not to switch off the screen.

So in almost every aspect, it is recommended to use GMXT over Que.

Eddie, I dont think your GPS is not working. If u keep soft-resetting your Kaiser, it will be harder to get a fix on your location.

There are times when I found it hard to get a fix, but usually it takes less than 5 minutes.

While driving, put your Kaiser on the dashboard, once you got the fix, you can put it somewhere else. Or better yet get a mounting kit.

Hope this helps.

I need some convincing factor to tell me that Tytn II is a good buy... Should I?

I care about the:
1. GPS feature
2. The camera, at least decent enough to take shots of the food I eat when I travel so I can post it up at my blog.
3. Push e-mail
4. System stabilitity
5. Will the keyboard and tilt function loosen up after much use?
*
Hi,

The GPS I would say is average. Some reviewers in Europe rate Kaiser's Qualcomm GPS chipset as better than Sirf Star III. If you need GPS device for daily navigation in Malaysia road, Kaiser can deliver it.

The camera, although it is 3.2 Megapixel is only good enough for outdoor shoot. If you wanna use it indoor, make sure there's enough lighting or else, you'll suffer the lagging viewfinder (slow refresh rate). However, Kaiser has better camera capabilities than most other PDA's camera.

Push e-mail I believe is being used for e-mail with Microsoft Exchange, like blackberry devices. So far, I havent heard any problem with this feature. And sadly to say I haven't try it yet.

System stability is quite good. If you're looking for a Pocket PC running WM6, be sure to check the ram is at least 128 MB. And I hardly encountered system crash, though not to say it never happened before. Keep in mind the etiquette when running WM6 devices, keep running processes as minimum as possible.

The final question is more on build-quality. I have compared Kaiser side by side with Zinc, and Kaiser would have won the build quality test.
Even Dopod 838Pro owner would agree HTC has put in a better build quality for Kaiser.

One gripe with Kaiser is the build in keyboard. Zinc has better. Hope my explanation helps.

And one more thing, the best pocket pc i ever had is O2 Mini aka HTC Magician. Kaiser only comes 2nd.

Yes u can.

For the shortcut, try Resco Explorer. You'll love it more than your standard explorer.

For the default soft key, you can chg it using many 3rd party application. There's a way to change using your registry. PLease google for it.
