"FI" enough for 800Mbps ? ASUS routers definitely can do more than that.
Thank You UNIFI for the free upgrade! But , is your router good enough ?Two weeks ago, Unifi has launched affordable plans and upgrading the existing customer’s internet speed to 10X faster than the current speed. ASUS routers has the ability to run at 100Mbps even right before Malaysia internet speed can be compatible with it. Finally, TM has made the call of upgrading its series of internet plans and ASUS routers can be fully utilize today. The new announced Unifi Turbo can run up to 800Mbps and our routers is completely ready to be utilize. Here are the list of routers that can support from 100 Mbps, 200 Mbps, 300 Mbps, 500 Mbps and 800 Mbps : Disclaimer: The actual performance may vary as a result of network conditions and environmental factors. Control your network anywhereIn your increasingly mobile-enabled life, having control over your network via an app is more important than ever. The new ASUS Router App is built from the ground-up to be both intuitive and robust, allowing you to setup your router, manage network traffic, diagnose connection issues and even update firmware, all without needing to boot up a PC.AiMesh – The Unrivaled FlexibilityMost modular mesh systems are limited to a single SSID, whereas AiMesh offers seamless roaming with either a single SSID for the entire AiMesh coverage area, or alternatively with separate SSIDs for each frequency band. This allows increased flexibility, for example by allowing them to dedicate the 5GHz band to gaming devices or a smart TV. Unlike off-the-shelf mesh systems with a fixed feature set, AiMesh is designed to give users unrivaled flexibility, allowing them to tailor the functions of their whole-home Wi-Fi system to suit their individual needs. AiMesh-enabled routers retain all their original networking features and capabilities — including ASUS AiProtection, Adaptive QoS, Parental Controls and more — so users have no need to compromise their individual networking preferences. Additionally, the features of the primary router are shared with the entire AiMesh network, regardless of the models used. Setup and management is flexible too, with the choice of using either the intuitive ASUS Router App, or the powerful and easy-to-use ASUSWRT web interface from a PC or laptop. All settings and preferences are centrally controlled and synced to all routers in the AiMesh network. Full Coverage and Powerful PerformanceOff-the-shelf mesh networking systems are often more focused on improving overall coverage than on delivering raw performance, leading to frustration for those users who demand both full coverage and extreme Wi-Fi speeds. ASUS routers are widely acclaimed for their high performance and outstanding reliability, and with AiMesh users can harness their power to create an unbeatable Wi-Fi system. In actual laboratory tests using the latest dual-band ASUS RT-AC86U router we measured Wi-Fi speeds that were 5.5X faster than a router from a dual-band, tri-hub mesh system.P/S : Feel free to ask us anything if you have worries in your home/work network This post has been edited by ASUSmy: Sep 3 2018, 10:25 AM

Hi, what will happen if i use RT-AC58U (which is recommended for 300mbps) on my Unifi 500mbps network? QUOTE To enjoy the maximum achievable speed on WIRELESS connection, you NEED to be connected to the 5GHz AC band AND have a suitable router AND a suitable USB Wi-Fi adapter. Your USB wireless adapter needs to be connected to USB3.0 for the best speed achievable on 500Mbps and 800Mbps, as USB2.0 max out at 480Mbps, which makes it only suitable for 300Mbps, and USB3.0 can support up to 5Gbps, which makes it suitable for both 500Mbps and 800Mbps. Quoted from Unifi discussion But RT-AC58U is using USB3.0 so should be fine right? This post has been edited by kyxxx: Aug 30 2018, 02:20 PM

there are 2 different things in regards to the speeds. You have WAN and wifi. A lot of routers will support those speeds on WAN using hardware NAT if they have it, but wifi is another question as what speeds the router reports for wifi is totally far from the speeds you'll get. For example the AC3200 will not give you 3.2Gb/s of wifi performance, but at best will give you 700Mb/s+ of practical AC wifi speeds if your device has 3 channel wifi too, but most devices only have 1 or 2 channel AC wifi so at best will get 500Mb/s practically on wifi AC. The main question however is, which routers will support those speeds when you need to do QoS, running a multi user environment which would be typical (families, people sharing house, etc). So your use case is very very important in picking the right router. I use software NAT and QoS performance when picking a router (no ubiquiti edgerouters for me ) because the best ubiquiti has to offer costs $1000 for around 1.6Gb/s of QoS performance while the same price of mikrotik will give you 10Gb/s symmetrical of QoS performance. Moving down the ASUS line, if you need QoS, the AC86U will do 300Mb/s of QoS performance, so ASUS you dont have any gamer router that can actually offer full 1Gb/s performance for gamer use (QoS, VPN, etc) that costs less than my router .
