See here for a list of routers and wireless adapter that can support the speed, scroll down to the middle section of first post: https://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopi...&#entry89949937

Hi, what will happen if i use RT-AC58U (which is recommended for 300mbps) on my Unifi 500mbps network?
Quoted from Unifi discussion
But RT-AC58U is using USB3.0 so should be fine right?

How about SRP for TP-LINK C5400X?
*
Bro, why are you asking SRP for TP-Link from Asus rep? sweat.gif

The Asus rep won’t know about TP-Link SRP lol. See here for the price: https://shopee.com.my/TP-LINK-C5400X-Wirele...0984.1433949296

Sad sad... Lyra only supports up to 300mbps...

Get Lyra Trio. It supports up to 500Mbps.

Omg haha paiseh.  I now feels like getting this instead of Acer hehe.

It is honestly overkill. You would be happy with the TP-Link Archer C3150.

Hi,
I'd like to enquire on how to maximize my speed to achieve the possible 800Mbps speed, wirelessly.

I'm using an Asus RT-AC88U and I placed it on the 2nd floor of my house, while my PC is on the 3rd floor. I'm trying to avoid using net cable from 2nd floor to 3rd floor because it will be messy.

Thinking of purchasing the Asus EA-AC87 (which will be placed on the 3rd floor), but I'm confused between the Bridge mode & The Access Point mode. If I were to use EA-AC87,
which mode would bring me closer to the 800Mpbs?

1). Bridge mode as in connect the EA-AC87 to RT-AC88U wirelessly, then connect EA-AC87 to my PC via Wireless USB adapter capable of theoretical >1Gbps?

2). Same as 1), except I connect from my PC to the EA-AC87 using Wired cable

3). Access Point mode, where I have to a pull-cable from my router to my EA-AC87 (connected via LAN port), then either connect through wired or wireless to my PC?

Thanks

Forget about getting the full 800Mbps on wireless, if your device does not support it, even you have a good router or AP. You need a device that can support 4x4 MIMO and the devices that support it is very limited. For the best result, you can go for No. 3. Read my signature for more info.

Yup I read it. Thanks for the input! Makes sense now.

I guess the only 4x4 MIMO is the PCE-AC88 Adapter (PCIe Wireless Adapter). Maybe I should get that Adapter first.
If it's not sufficient enough, then only I should consider the Wireless AP.

Yep, and make sure your router is capable of 4x4 MIMO too. If it is, then you will get the best speed possible.
