QUOTE(clement5949 @ Aug 29 2018, 09:47 AM) Hi guys, I realise my mid-2014 MacBook pro retina got heat easily. So far never clean my MBP 2010 before. But i stop using it since 2016. No issues up to then. So i just wondering whether i should i clean the dust inside? as i always like to place my laptop on top of a pillow should i clean myself or send to some professional service centre to clean? If you want you can follow some youtube guides. Looks pretty simple. As long as you are careful shouldnt be hard |

QUOTE(clement5949 @ Aug 30 2018, 09:38 AM) kind of. read from article. it's pretty straightforward. get the right screwdriver, normal screwdriver for my glasses work for my mbp. unscrew all, remove the bottom plate and you get access to the fan. i do not disassemble the whole fan unit to clean, just a general surface clean. |

QUOTE(clement5949 @ Aug 29 2018, 09:47 AM) Hi guys, I realise my mid-2014 MacBook pro retina got heat easily. Hi, I too was having the same dilemma with my 13" 2014 rmbp. Thinking it was the dust accumulated in the chassis, I went an ordered the correct tools for DIY. You do need the 'Pentalobe' screw driver. I got one of theose from R'deer No 9236 where it comes with the philips, slot, pentalobe and torx bits. Its built quality is impressive and for RM25 am not complaining. You also need a soft paint brush and a lens blower. Its not hard to DIY as it just dismatling the lower chasis cover and the fan is exposed. Anyway do youtube as there are ample videos on this subject matter. So i just wondering whether i should i clean the dust inside? as i always like to place my laptop on top of a pillow should i clean myself or send to some professional service centre to clean? At the end. I thouhgt it was the dust, but in fact it was more because of 'High Sierra'. Then I realise that the fan speed started to hear more right after updating to High Sierra. High Sierra uses alot of the co processor and all other bits and pieces thus making the cooling fans work harder. On the 15" model, not much change as they uses a pair of fans. For 13" only a single fan. Save some cash and DIY. |
