Since the Unifi hardware works and the Maxis one gave this fault, just call Maxis to troubleshoot. Most likely their hardware problem.

QUOTE(watashigundamu @ Aug 29 2018, 12:46 AM) just today alone i called them twice. non-able to solve the intermittent internet dc issue. For me, no need deeper diagnostic. It obviously WiFi router. You can easily confirm by connecting direct to the BTU or/and WiFi LAN socket using cable. The wireless side if the router is usually the problematic one.the last one that help me troubleshoot is very helpful and know what his doing. but unfortunately even after that the issue still reoccur. The tech guy did mention suspect is hardware issue, and looking at the current situation, high chance that's the case. i actually spend my evening at lowyat and looking at various router over there. any recommendation from your side, or maybe the model you're using now? thanks in advance. also, do you meant router or modem? cuz from what i know when survey at lowyat, they say they no sell modem only (aside those 2 in 1 type). sigh.... not these type of reply at serious /k.... the answer is NO to all your above question, this is not about hate , and im not anti-maxis or pro-TM or Axiata (<<<what is this Axiata anyway, not aware until you mention) I'm just a user that paid for the service, and expect to get at least a stable and usable internet line. The Axiata was known as TM International, which operate separately. Basically it is Celcom. |

QUOTE(watashigundamu @ Aug 29 2018, 10:27 PM) to both of you, THANK YOU SO MUCH! I was on Unifi and got the wireless AP changed once due to something similar, though not as frequent. The technician did not ask much. i really glad i took you two's advice and go purchase a new router myself, cuz this router actually solve the intermittent internet disconnect issue. went to lowyat this morning and been ping to gateway and google.com until now, heck, no more those multiple line of request time out or general failure !!! at this point i dont even bother with their contractor to come and swap another maxis provide router, since they might provide the same thing and with same issue. I was using the TM router for so long until recently I decided to change to Asus. TM called to offer upgrade with discount RM230 for 100Mbps (mine include unlimited landline call). They said they will upgrade the router too. Well, I declined stating that my laptop is old and can only connect to 54Mbps The reason I chose Asus is because you can mix with other Asus models and upgrade their firmware to form mesh network. |

QUOTE(watashigundamu @ Aug 30 2018, 10:54 PM) its like, 1000 times better than the maxis provided router. no kidding !! The Unifi ready is just the one that can support VLAN. The Asus router and selection in menu to set to Unifi setting thus easy for customer. Maybe no Maxis setting, but if you know the setting, you can still manually configure but yet need to know all the setting parameters for some one that been with Unifi provided hardware for 6 freaking years , I'm now a firm believer on getting a better network hardware = better experience , no more doubt. i bought an asus ac1300 ac58u. when setting up, i notice at the asus router setting there mention "port 3" = VOIP, weird cuz the sales person say this router no VOIP function. so out of curious, i connect the Maxis router to asus router at lan port 3 . so now, the asus router that does not comes with phone port can use maxis provided wireless phone to receive and makes call , through that Maxis router ! seriously did not expect that feature !!! and the 1st thing this sweet sweet router did when connected to the internet is download and update its firmware ! so smart !!! totally no idea a router is capable of doing such !!! not yet into the mesh network thou, but that some how sounds very interesting !! YEAH !!! no freaking way !!! |
