i heard frm mechanic tat dont use coolant is better, cos coolant chemical will damage the radiator... last time i used coolant... now use water only... then change the water once a while...
Same reply as I did in another forum. Billion dollar car manufacturer states in the manual to use coolant and untrained mechanic says don't use. Who do you want to believe.

and how much are they?
even ur spare tank uses the coolant?
Moon, it is not a spare tank. It's a spillover tank or some just refer to it as a reservoir (to store water). It does not function as spare. When your engine is cold, the radiator is full. When it gets hot, our basic chemistry knowledge will tell us that the water will expand. So where does the water go to? Back to the water reservoir/tank. When the engine cools down, again the water will contract and water from the reservoir/tank goes back into the radiator.
So even if you don't put coolant in the reservoir, eventually after a few engine start, the content of the tank and radiator will be the same as the coolant and water mix together.

yeap, i was refering to tap water..
btw, some say use mineral water can avoid rust corrosion.
You use distilled water. NOT mineral water. Mineral water will have more 'minerals' in it than tap water. Mineral water is not distilled water. 2 very different types of water.

have u guys check your radiator tank & spare tank water??
does the spare tank go down? n the water of in the radiator tank? izzit clear or bronze in water cos of the rust?
i notice mine is like brownish..
i tink its the water le.. got some chemical. cos i usually refill water inside the bottle. and after some time, the water inside started to have some brownish thingy growing or some sort like tat.. not sure if those are the thing causing my themostat to jam?
Have you sorted out the radiator leak yet? The 'spare' tank will always mix with your radiator when you drive so it's normal to see it become the same colour as the coolant in the radiator. BTW, do you use any type of coolant at all? If you don't then the brown colour is the colour of rust, coming from your radiator. If I'm not mistaken your B16A should have an aluminium alloy block with cast iron cylinder linings and it should not rust. So the rust has to come from your radiator unless you are using an aluminium radiator.
