How to identify you're in 100mbps or 1gbps cable. Just look into the number pin of your cables.

4 wires = 100mbps cable no matter you're cat5 cat5e or Cat6

8 wires = 1gbps and in even cst5e are 1gbps connection too. Not necessary to cat6. Cat6 is to lower down the latency in long distance. But in distance of few meters cat5eis good too. We're not in mission critical connection actually.
